You are correct. I tried to buy a Macbook for my daughter and have it shipped to her home, and my CC company put the security smack down on my CC. I had to call them and provide security info etc and explain, then they approved. I went back to Apple.com and clicked to resubmit the charge and it worked.

Thanks for the response. Yes...it is very often the credit card company itself.

I think that electronics purchases create great big red flags for credit card companies.

I wonder how many orders for computers a company like Apple gets per day to be shipped to Nigeria using (stolen) US credit card numbers?

Thanks for your help, I think I'm just gonna pre-order than go to the AT&T store on the 24th and have them do all that stuff for me, So when I pre-order I can't have it delivered to me right? I have to choose the pick up in store option?

AT&T is saying (at least TODAY LOL) that if you pre-order for pickup at an AT&T store, it will not be guaranteed until the 25th.

I'm upgrade eligible, and will be pre-ordering. My question is, will the system allow me to pre-order a second phone for a new line that I want to add to my account for my girlfriend?
Or will she better off pre-ordering it herself with a new number and porting over her Sprint number a few days later, then being added to my account?

Sorry if this has already been asked, didn't read the entire thread. Does anyone know if you can have the phone shipped to an address besides your home address? I'll be visiting family in Tx and won't be home.

Thanks!

I'm getting mine delivered straight to my house. I had my 3GS delivered last year on the release date and activated it with no problems. Even if it takes a couple of tries to activate it this time because of overloaded servers, etc., I would still rather have it delivered.

Paying for gas to and from an Apple or AT&T store, then waiting in line for hours, or even overnight, and having to deal with large crowds of people rushing you just doesn't appeal to me.

I have the same question, basically. My wife is upgrade eligible, and I want to add on as a family plan. Can we do all this through the pre-order? (And sorry to mix threads, but she can keep her unlimited plan and I have to get one of the new ones?)

Thanks for the noob help.

Same problem here. I'm getting the iPhone but my wife is not. Porting our numbers from VZW.

You will not be able to preorder to either add a line or open a new line of service. Preordering is for customers with current AT&T service.

UGH Dang this sucks. I'll be leaving for a wedding on June 24th and will be gone for a week and a half. The new iPhone 4 would be PERFECT for my trip as I'm going to be taking pics and videos.

I'm tempted to having it shipped to the hotel that I'll be staying at, but I'll only be at a hotel for 2 days, then changing hotels after that since I'll be visiting some friends in another nearby city.

What do you guys think? Too big of a risk having it shipped to my hotel or do it?

Last year, there was a line for the 3GS at launch time, but it was gone after about noon. Our store got another shipment in around 5 that night, so they had them all in stock for the evening rush.

That's a big risk right there.

I'm curious as to how Apple deals with payments for pre-orders. Do you pay the full amount of the phone with your credit card the day you pre-order? Or does it just verify you have the amount on your card at the time of the pre-order, then charge you once it ships? I'm assuming some of you may know this from past iPad/iPhones pre-orders.

I'm one of the unfortunate ones who isn't elligible for an update until 2011, so I will have to spend at least $399 on the iPhone 4.

Store. Why?

If they release the phone at 10AM, your phone could come before UPS / FedEx stop shipping which is 7 PM.

That would suck.

Yea when u pre order they ask if u want to upgrade a current line then when u get the new one just connect it to iTunes and it will activate ur new one and deactivate ur old one. But if u want to change ur plan u have to go to AT&Ts site or go to the store

If you reserve you pay when you pick up the phone. No deposit/payment needed until you pick it up. You basically have to pick the phone up on release day by a certain time, if not it will be sold

And to do this I need to go through the apple website, correct??

Since I'm porting two numbers over from Sprint, I pretty much have to go pick mine up at either the Apple store or Best Buy.

What is the difference between pre-ordering and reserving for in-store pickup, if any? Pre-ordering sounds like you order, pay in full, and then choose where you want to pick it up. Reserving sounds like you don't actually pay upfront and would probably have to stand in the longer of the two lines on launch day.

EDIT: nevermind - it looks like someone answered my question about payment.

So even before you get the phone it already knows what line you want to upgrade? because I am a little confused how just connecting it to itunes works, I have multiple iphones on one itunes account, and the computer that i usually sync my iphone to (the iphone broke about 3 months ago) broke a few days ago, so i will be connecting it to another computer which my sister uses to sync her phone to itunes (which uses the same account). Is this going to mix up anything, am i going to have to specify which number i want on the new iphone at the time I am syncing? Sorry im a little confused and will like to know all of this before the phone arrives, thank you.
