I'm curious as to how Apple deals with payments for pre-orders. Do you pay the full amount of the phone with your credit card the day you pre-order? Or does it just verify you have the amount on your card at the time of the pre-order, then charge you once it ships? I'm assuming some of you may know this from past iPad/iPhones pre-orders.

I'm one of the unfortunate ones who isn't elligible for an update until 2011, so I will have to spend at least $399 on the iPhone 4.

My experience with preordering anything from Apple is they charge your CC one penny the day of the order to make sure the card is legit... then charge the balance the day they ship.

Does anyone know where the pre-orders ship from? Is it from an Apple distribution site or from CA directly?

UGH Dang this sucks. I'll be leaving for a wedding on June 24th and will be gone for a week and a half. The new iPhone 4 would be PERFECT for my trip as I'm going to be taking pics and videos.

I'm tempted to having it shipped to the hotel that I'll be staying at, but I'll only be at a hotel for 2 days, then changing hotels after that since I'll be visiting some friends in another nearby city.

What do you guys think? Too big of a risk having it shipped to my hotel or do it?

I'm thinking of doing the same thing. Gonna be a hotel till Sunday tho. But shah I'd watch tracking n sit in lobby till Fedex came thru.
