Where do you get 3 years from? My iMac was bought the day the design prior to the current one first went on sale and it'll be 8 years old this Fall... If Apple were to release a new iMac design it would be the 2nd redesign in 8 years, suggesting that they do it once every 4 years.

Honestly though, I don't expect new desktop designs. Laptops and mobiles are the future - desktops are a dying breed and the current designs are fine. The people who still need them care more about what's on the inside than what they look like.

He is correct. Apple removed the optical drive, and made the iMac much thinner in December, 2012

Fascinating. I can't tell if the "gold" aluminum would be a terrible mistake or a genius move.

It's true that unexpectedly, the Edition looks really great with the Sport bands.

I hope they drop the price on the the Apple Watch 2 as they do for many new devices. Getting the Sport to $299 would do a lot for sales.

iMacs have typically seen a ~3 year case design refresh cycle. This fall will be the 3 year mark (crazy) since the thinner iMac was introduced in 2012. My late-2013 Haswell 27-inch iMac is my favorite device, but could be tempted to pick up a 5K version in a case redesign which minimizes the chin and bezel a bit. Would love a space gray, silver, gold option with a 512GB SSD in the $2K ballpark. Bring it on.

They will never get rid of the chin! NEVER I tells Ya! Bwa-ha-ha!

How is apple going to have real rose/yellow gold apple watch and anodized aluminum at the same time? This will undervalue the the 10k+ version.

Thats what I thought at first, no way would they do this, but when you think about it, rose gold aluminium is matt and rose gold watch is shiny and smooth. You can tell them apart.

What they won't do is release gold plated stainless steel watched where you couldn't tell the difference.

Dear Apple,

Please no Yellow and Rose Gold options on the iPhones or Apple Watch.

Sincerely, Everyone
I could see a rose gold anodized iPhone but I'm skeptical we'll see gold colored aluminum watches.

- August 2007 - iMac gets aluminum/glass enclosure in 20" and 24" configs
- September 2009 - iMac gets new wider look in 21.5" and 27" 16:9 IPS displays
- October 2012 - iMac gets new slim profile, laminated displays in 21.5" and 27" configs
- October 2015...???

As to your other point, Apple will continue to make iMacs as long as they sell and make them money. If the Mac is now a "truck" with the capabilities of iPads and iPhones, they actually serve a nice role in the product line - providing a big screen OS X experience for those who don't require portability.

I don't see a redesign happening. If a complete iMac redesign was only a year away, they would have waited to release the Retina 5K iMac until the new design was ready. The fact that the retina 5K iMac was completely unchanged from normal iMac made it pretty clear that no major redesign is happening for awhile.

At this point, any update will be purely internal and new I/O.

It makes ZERO sense to make fake yellow and rose gold sport models.

If they price the "fakes" at a big enough fraction of the price of the 18k Edition Watches, and enough people actually pay such, then it might make a lot of sense to Apple's profits. Apple knows how many at what price far (their demand curve) more accurately than any of us do.

The other possibility is that it's a planted leak so that they can catch and fire someone who talks to Ming without authorization.

I'm shocked (shocked, I say!) that analysts are predicting production delays for a new Apple product.
Don't know why you would be shocked, there have been many new Apple products that were in short supply at launch. Apple watch is only just now catching up with demand.

no one talks to kuo,

iMac's with Skylake? Any chance of it gaining a 2TB SSD, similar to the one Samsung just released? What about a 4k 21.5 inch?

I think 4k 21.5 inch will be happening, and 2TB ssd, no that would cost over $1000 premium for that.
And skylake? no, we still have to get the iMac broadwell first. Skylake iMacs could arrive like q3-q4 2016.

Kuo does have a pretty respectable track record and his sources seem pretty accurate. https://www.macrumors.com/guide/ming-chi-kuo/

that means nothing, I do like reading kuo's predictions they are worth considering for sure. but his macrumors reports of what he has predicted means nothing. I can't think of anytime kuo has correctly predicted something, where he reported his prediction before it was already obvious to be that something was going to happen.

Is anybody else dying for new rMBP in black with skylake?

and I am a MBP redesign will be awesome, and probably isn't too far away. I don't think this year but maybe 2016. and I feel it will almost definitely have space grey, not black though, I wish. or redesigned MBA w/ retina would be sweet too. And skylake for MBP won't be available until late 2016

I'd like an iMac is rose gold please. It will go well with my iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch of the same color.

I know you are joking,
but honest question. Why do people want their various devices to match, their watch their phone, ipad, laptop, etc. Isn't it more fun to have a different color of each device for variety

Mac with Intel Skylake and Thunderbolt 3 and USB 3.1 type C (reversible) as well as new Apple Thunderbolt Display 5K 24-inch with such ports and new wired keyboard with USB 3.1 type C hub?

Does a purchase of a refurbished iPad count for Apple iPad sales? I bought a refurb one last month. Very happy with it. Just wondering.
If everything is done correctly, that iPad did count as a sale when it was originally sold, was counted as -1 sales when it was returned, and if you bought it, it would be a sale again. Not sure if they count it if you buy it as an "out of warranty repair"

Economic daily news says no new iPad Air: I convince myself that they are wrong. Ming-Chi Kuo says it: ****...

They talk about other color options while Apple can not even get this piece of **** to all the markets. I mean at least all of the god damn european union.

By the time they put their act together and manage to deliver the damn thing it's already time for the next generation and even if there was 1 crazy person that wanted to buy it it's smarter to wait for next generation by that time.
