finally...

iTunes 64bit
OS XI (or 10.7 or whatever)
new AppleTV
new iPhone
improved (FIXED) MobileMe

that's my laundry list.
I wouldn't be expecting that until Apple's next iPod event which will likely be in September again.

New apple tv would be nice (1/4 the size, better graphics for bluray rips, leave the wired network connection and let me turn the damn thing off).

A faster itunes (huge freaking library).

Better upload speed on mobileme.

Nothing with the ipod because of the back to school promo.

An iphone for another network announced, to be released in 6 months (so the FCC doesn't leak it) would be nice, but I doubt it.

I'd be happy with the first 3.

Was the first iPod touch introduced at this event? Just asking because I remember pre ordering it that day. Gives me hope we can order then on the 7th????? Hmmmmmm. Although I pre-ordered the touch I didn't get it till weeks later I think. Just like everyone else here, I'm anxious for new phone. Going for white this time. :D

AMEN BROTHA.

Although with MobileMe I think they should make it a free service.. Ad revenues would probably be higher than current subscription revenues.

I hope they at least mention thier progress with moving iTunes to the cloud.

Immediate release of the AppleTV would be swell.. I'm waiting for one.

Same goes for the iPhone.. gave up my 3GS under the agreement that I'd get a HD when it comes out.. til then I'll be on a LG Prada 2 (if it is ever delivered - I'm currently phone-less)

Oh, and iPhones for Sprint, Verizon and T-mobile.

iPhone 4G. Or is it iPhone G4?

The all new iPhone — featuring a PowerPC G4 processor, system-on-a-chip. With liquid cooling.
Think different.

(Keep an eye out for those black, covered banners! I'm telling ya!) :crossfingers:

When I was in an AT&T store, I was told that it was the iPhone 4G. It might have been just what they had thought- or the real thing?

my cousin works at telekom (the german iPhone provider) and they got holidays blocked for the week of june 22 like last year when the 3GS came out

Should be a good day for us all.... except for those people that seem to complain about something no matter what Apple releases.

It will be a good day for them as well; they will have something new to complain about. Everybody wins when Apple announces new products.

ok yes i want to see a new iphone but i would really like to see a new LED Cinema display. make the price low and make it good.

how about this

Guys the Iphone 4G will happen when I say look at when apple are going to open covent garden there new flag ship store iv e heard its going to be on July the 11th. Thats when they will release the new Iphone. :)

Nah, retail line employees are typically the worst source of pre-release information. They are basically the last to learn about anything.

The person was making things up.

No, the iPod touch has been announced in September (or maybe October one year) each time in its three years of existence. That's when Apple typically refreshes its iPod line (in preparation for the holiday sales season).

If you want the specific dates, please search Wikipedia for "ipod touch." You're welcome.

A new iPad, "ha ha suckers.your is obsolete already"

Was that called for? Yes technology is almost obsolete the day you get it. If they announce a new ipad, who cares. I just got mine a few weeks ago and I love it. I still use my 2008 macbook white and have not upgraded yet. But then I say why, when my BTO through macmall pretty much has the same specs. ok the new one may be a little faster and running snow leopard (I am still running leopard as some 3rd party software still is not compatible). But it works great. 2.4 ghz, 2gb ram, 250 hd. I do wish the logic board would accept 4gb ram though -that is my only drawback as I need to run a virtual PC.

my hopes for this year's WWDC:

1) New beefier iwork 10. I am running iwork 08 and find the iwork on the ipad only will recognize files saved in iwork 09 format, unless I save them as a .doc first and import a .doc I did not upgrade to iwork 09, as I am a heavy MS office user due to work. iwork is just a little light and still some compatibility issues with converting between iwork and ms office (mostly with fonts). I am not sure I will upgrade my MS office now that upgrade pricing is going way, and you need to buy the full version and pay full price. That would jump the price about $200-$300 for me to upgrade...

2) iwork on the ipad to be updated to allow importing of templates. Right now to get around that, I had to export all my templates from MS office and iwork 08 to .doc files and them import them into pages on the ipad. it is an ok work around, but.... Now I have over 100 documents to swipe through, instead of just picking the one from the template menu that drops down. Pages on the ipad needs template support much like the desktop version does. Give us the option of importing as a document or importing as a template. if importing as a document - work the same as now, if importing as a template - put it in the template drop down.

3) Open up the API to the ical calendar. I would love to have tasks with dates showing as an appointment on my calendar. Also all the app developers can then update their todo apps to allow appointments on task list, rather than having to manually drag an appointment from ical to the task section, then sync. Here I am specifically interested in this in appigo's ToDo, as I use that heavily and sync between my mac and my ipad/iphone.

Other than a direct printing from iwork instead of having to copy /paste or email to my self to use a printing app - that is all I can think of. The printing apps are good work arounds for now.

Edit: I did think of one other one....

Please bring iweb to the ipad. I need to keep my website up to date and it would be nice to sync iweb between my mac and ipad and update it and publish while out. Very shortly I will be at a point of not traveling with my macbook, only my ipad.

If it comes out Friday 11th I'll be damn happy...

a) its my birthday
b) world cup starts!

Roll on Monday!
It is unlikely for the iPhone to ship on Friday the 11th.

That would basically require Apple to deploy software and service updates throughout the week (iPhone OS 4.0, new iTunes to support new functionality like folders, Mac OS X 10.6.4 update, service upgrades, etc.) before a massive hardware launch on Friday.

I'm skeptical of Apple being able to handle all of that during the week of their major public event (a tech-resource heavy developer conference) capped with a major hardware release.

Most likely, the iPhone would ship a Friday later in the month or early July. It's a logistical/operations thing. I'm sure the hardware has reached steady state production level and is now rolling off the manufacturing line.

As a side benefit, by shipping the iPhone a different week, they get more publicity. If they shipped the week of WWDC, it would just be part of that week's ongoing coverage. By staggering the ship date, they get another discrete media event at zero additional cost.

Gives me something to be hopeful for though eh! This will be my first iPhone since the the first one. I've been putting off getting a 3GS for a few months now.

Even if it isn't released on the 11th, watching the USA beat England on the 12th should make up for it :D

For people who are asking about release / shipping. If you look at history:

New iwork / ilife - immediately following event.

New iphones and new Mobile Me - First or 2nd week of July

New Ipods - September or early October after the back-to-school event (although did they not start that event earlier this year. I thought it usually started in July or August - this year they started it at end of May / early June, this could mean we could see something up earlier with ipods and macbooks)

New Macbooks - September / October after inventory is reduced with the back-to-school event. Although could be earlier since they started the back-to-school very early this year.

As for the back to school earlier - I wonder if that is because more and more school systems are switching to year-round schooling where instead of 1 week vacation, you get three; but the downside is you get out in May and back to School in July (only 3 weeks in the summer instead of 3 months). they say it saves costs, but not sure how. Gas / diesel is usually higher in the summer, plus now you have to run the A/C in the schools in the summer.

I think the only costs it saves is daycare for the parents - but that also puts a hurting on those who run summer camps.

Please, new iPhone in June!

If they don't release the new iPhone in June, I am screwed! My 30 day "buyers remorse" loophole won't work!

I too think the 11th is unlikely, but not for the reasons you describe. Rolling out a small iTunes bump is trivial, and 10.6.4 won't be needed. Apple will probably give developers the GM seed of 4.0 on Monday, and they will want to give them at least a week to test it out with their apps. So I think the 18th or the following friday is more likely.

And to everyone wishing about iLife/iWork updates--don't count on it. Those are consumer products, and this is a developer's conference.

Wish I could be there on June 7 for my birthday... Anyone wanna give me a nice present ?! :p
