I too think the 11th is unlikely, but not for the reasons you describe. Rolling out a small iTunes bump is trivial, and 10.6.4 won't be needed. Apple will probably give developers the GM seed of 4.0 on Monday, and they will want to give them at least a week to test it out with their apps. So I think the 18th or the following friday is more likely.
Yes, I wasn't sure about the compatibility issues between OS 3.x and OS 4.x. If rumors are correct and the new iPhone is running at double resolution, the hiccups should be relatively minor since the existing apps can simply be doubled.

Gives me something to be hopeful for though eh! This will be my first iPhone since the the first one. I've been putting off getting a 3GS for a few months now.

Even if it isn't released on the 11th, watching the USA beat England on the 12th should make up for it :D

Hah, keep dreaming ;). In all seriousness will be a good game though, can't wait.

Shouldn't be a surprise to anyone, but Gizmodo has announced that they won't be there... they are begging for help from others to provide some sort of meta-coverage.

Serves 'em right.

Was that called for? Yes technology is almost obsolete the day you get it. If they announce a new ipad, who cares. I just got mine a few weeks ago and I love it. I still use my 2008 macbook white and have not upgraded yet. But then I say why, when my BTO through macmall pretty much has the same specs. ok the new one may be a little faster and running snow leopard (I am still running leopard as some 3rd party software still is not compatible). But it works great. 2.4 ghz, 2gb ram, 250 hd. I do wish the logic board would accept 4gb ram though -that is my only drawback as I need to run a virtual PC.

my hopes for this year's WWDC:

1) New beefier iwork 10. I am running iwork 08 and find the iwork on the ipad only will recognize files saved in iwork 09 format, unless I save them as a .doc first and import a .doc I did not upgrade to iwork 09, as I am a heavy MS office user due to work. iwork is just a little light and still some compatibility issues with converting between iwork and ms office (mostly with fonts). I am not sure I will upgrade my MS office now that upgrade pricing is going way, and you need to buy the full version and pay full price. That would jump the price about $200-$300 for me to upgrade...

2) iwork on the ipad to be updated to allow importing of templates. Right now to get around that, I had to export all my templates from MS office and iwork 08 to .doc files and them import them into pages on the ipad. it is an ok work around, but.... Now I have over 100 documents to swipe through, instead of just picking the one from the template menu that drops down. Pages on the ipad needs template support much like the desktop version does. Give us the option of importing as a document or importing as a template. if importing as a document - work the same as now, if importing as a template - put it in the template drop down.

3) Open up the API to the ical calendar. I would love to have tasks with dates showing as an appointment on my calendar. Also all the app developers can then update their todo apps to allow appointments on task list, rather than having to manually drag an appointment from ical to the task section, then sync. Here I am specifically interested in this in appigo's ToDo, as I use that heavily and sync between my mac and my ipad/iphone.

Other than a direct printing from iwork instead of having to copy /paste or email to my self to use a printing app - that is all I can think of. The printing apps are good work arounds for now.

Edit: I did think of one other one....

Please bring iweb to the ipad. I need to keep my website up to date and it would be nice to sync iweb between my mac and ipad and update it and publish while out. Very shortly I will be at a point of not traveling with my macbook, only my ipad.

It's called a sense of humor, get one

I hope there's a new iPod Touch.
September/October when they refresh the iPod product line.

Trying to launch the next-gen iPod touch at the same time as the next-gen iPhone would likely result in more shortages as part availability would be even more constrained (for every three iPhones Apple sells, they sell two iPod touches). Displays and silicon would be the likely shortages.

By staggering the two launches, they ease the bottleneck on the supply chain. We have already seen that issue crop up with U.S. and international launches, most recently with the iPad, but also with previous iPhone releases.

iPhone 4G. Or is it iPhone G4?

The all new iPhone — featuring a PowerPC G4 processor, system-on-a-chip. With liquid cooling.
Think different.

(Keep an eye out for those black, covered banners! I'm telling ya!) :crossfingers:

I agree its going to be called iphone G4 that would coincide with the new Apple branded processor. Sounds more sophisticated as well

I'll be there. And when I mean I'll be there, I mean I'll be sitting on my ass watching Engadgets live blog thousands of miles away.

No secret about Apple TV being there!

From the looks of the banner in the lobby, we'll be seeing lots of :apple:TV now that Google is making a play for a big chunk of consumer real estate!

Can you say :apple:TV app store!?! Give me the free Netflix app! :D

Leo LaPort used the camera in his MBP at the last SteveNote to stream. Funny too because the lights streaked across the audience and you could see him pointing the laptop at the stage. Funny stuff.

Dead in the water.

Can't wait, the only thing between me and the keynote is a job interview at the same time. I almost called the guy back about changing it

Its just a phone man! Get a job, you could buy one every month after that. Or you could read or view live feed from YOUR office! Come on!

It's bad enough having to wait for WWDC, but when they unveil the latest and greatest thing, be it OS4 or the next iPhone, spend 30 minutes getting everyone salivating about it, and then Steve says "And this is going to be available in early September" then that's the real killer! I think my 5 year old daughter has more patience than me.

Why can't Apple offer a service where as soon as they announce something new there's a UPS guy outside my front door with one for me?

And you don't care whatever the heck UPS guy is going to deliver from Apple?

How about Verizon getting its act together and moving off CDMA2000 for Christ sake - its 2010, get with the ***** programme!
They're working on it with their LTE rollout. Still, they will have to provide CDMA access for years for legacy devices as well as areas where LTE has not yet arrived.

Based on the speed at which the U.S. cellular industry operates, my guess is that Verizon Wireless will be running a CDMA network for at least ten more years. I'm not defending Verizon (I'm neither a shareholder nor customer), but simply stating what appears to be the situation here.

Ah, yes. Another thrilling 1 - 0, or dare we dream, 2 - 1, match with a few riots thrown in for good measure. Yep, a perfect day.

 Games don't need to be high scoring to be exciting, you know. And games don't pause every 90 seconds!

World Cup, final papers turned in, possible iPhone...yes, the 11th just might turn out to be the perfect day.
