Since you like Evi so much, why are the reviews for it so bad?

Well, then Apple don't have much to fear then do they?

Of course, the scores for Evi are the same as... well, say, the official Twitter app, and Apple thought that was so good they built it into the OS...

I am neither pro nor anti Evi; just happened to be reading about it this past weekend, and found it interesting that someone posted here about it.

I have Siri, so don't really need an Evi too.

However, like others have said - I like the idea of Apple having competition, and think that would definitely potentially lead to a better Siri.

OP, I'm totally sure its extremely easy to make a case for one's cause by pulling up a few issues that Siri provides you that don't answer your question the way you want it to.
But I notice that from the reviews that your EVI also has many many problems as well.
If you'd like, I bet the masses could also post many comparisons where Siri out performs Evi.
So please don't come here and present skewed data. It makes the case for Siri, not for Evi.
It does seem that you are really pushing this app.

And also, when Evi said the 18th amendment is the 18th amendment really makes it sound like its about as useful as mud flaps on a turtle.

Gimme a break! You tell someone to not come in here and post skewed data and you post none? Not a very convincing argument.

Oh wait, you "bet" the masses "could" find a better comparison. Closed case!

Jailbreak and download Sara

I didnt know about this thanks... I tried adding the repo in Cydia but it didn't work... I'll try to install the deb file when I get home, unless someone here knows about a different repo adress that works?

Pulling an App because it competes is weak and sets a bad precedent.

Thats probably a more legit reason... however it was cited that Evi would confuse its users being a similar product. I think since dating back to the Google voice app being pulled (and since let back in) for the same argument Apple has allowed many "similar" style apps thats duplicate Apple default function or apps. I dont see how they can reall make that claim today with a straight face. I dont have Siri nor even if i did would really use it often. Personally i'm not the type that wants to talk to my electronics.

Are users that stupid that we dont know the difference?? thats fairly insulting upon Apple's behalf IMO.

Bolded above would be my response too... TBH, it sounds like an excuse - "because it may confuse the user".... Sigh.

What about the all the other apps that duplicate built in iPhone functionality?! Such as Notes, Contacts, Calculators, Reminders etc.

If Apple were going to be consistent, all apps that duplicate built in iPhone apps should be pulled as well.

I like Evi, I don't have Siri (my gf does) but from what I can tell...Evi is better for facts and information, and Siri is better for "doing" things, and Evi is marketed as such.

It would be a shame if it got pulled, because it's a really nicely put together app and as Apple are refusing to port Siri to < iPhone 4S handsets it's the only decent alternative I've found without JB.

That being said, at times it's absolutely useles "I'm having trouble connecting to my servers" Aargggghhh!!!

Can I share kindle books?

Can I share my amazon kindle books?

Siri is useless. What about evi?

I like using both. I asked Evi what was on TV now and she came up with one show. I asked what was on TV tonight and she came up with a nice long list.

You just gotta remember what each one is good at. I doubt that Evi is getting pulled from the store any time soon.

Jailbreak, Spire, £10 Siri Server Slot. Works a treat.

Thank you, roadblock and all, for your replies and advise. I'm new to :apple: after twenty some years of MS use. The ios is what got me, particularly the great ios apps. I apreciate the diversity of the app offering and each app for what it does. I just wish the App Store offered a "preview" feature so one could fiddle with the app for a day before buying it. I've had to throw away a couple of pennies deleting paid-for apps a few hours after purchase. Evi was the latest, although I'm against the thought of pulling any app for the stated reason.

What gas mark is 220 degrees centigrade?

Siri - sorry I can only look for business in the US

:O

Evi - I'm having trouble with the server right now.

Oh hang on EVI is on it and says approx gas mark 6.

EVI win siri loser

I like EVI. The inbuilt browser results are cool.

I know OP is just a troll but there's no reason for anyone else to be misled...

In case you missed it, the first picture the OP posted is obviously fake. The closing quote mark overlaps the question, and Siri doesn't tell people to "Go to google." At its worst it will search the web for you. The whole thing about Siri "not having access to the internet" is also complete garbage; Siri is closely connected with WolframAlpha and google maps. OP doesn't even know how to troll.

Who cares. End user and only care about a cool product. EVI does things Siri doesn't. And the extra step Siri uses ie would you like to search the Internet is unnecessary and not there in EVI. Plus EVI doesn't say I can inly look for businesses in the US. EVI does not get confused and misunderstand the context of the question and pulls the correct information.

EVI wins in so many ways. I wish it weren't so. But it is :)

Wake up

Siri - what time shall I set the alarm for

Evi - I never sleep. I want to be available for my users when they need help

Rule Britannia and all. Well done chaps. Great program you have there.

If need be. I'm a stickler for correct granmar and punctuation. By the way, misled is the past tense of mislead.. right? Misled just doesn't look right to me, but I think I'm wrong.

Too bad you focus so much on correct "granmar" and punctuation that you forgot how to spell.

If one were to ask, "What is the birth date of George W. Bush?”, True Knowledge would reason from the facts “George W. Bush is a president”, “George W. Bush is a human being”, “A president is a subclass of human being”, “Date of creation is a more general form for birth date”, and “the 6th of July is the date of creation for George W. Bush”, to produce the simple answer, “the 6th of July”.

Siri can't do any of that. If Apple had bought TRU Knowledge, they could've added in the voice control that you currently have, and thus they would have to do less work. They wouldn't be "in beta".
Siri's ability to understand context and natural input is far more important than whatever Evi can do, and it's only the start. Siri is in Beta right now, and as services get added we'll be able to access more and more information.

It's not like Apple wouldn't have been aware of this company, but they chose to buy Siri. It's got a lot of potential, because it's got a very, very solid foundation, which will only be built upon further over time. All other voice control lacks that same kind of foundation, that is, the ability to understand context and natural input.

It's interesting that you would say that, seeing as a large quantity of responses Siri gives are indeed, "I don't understand."

I would challenge that.
