Getting very old on this side of the equation. Apple uses our time and resources for free. Not even a response saying thanks for the help. All the thousands of hours of debugging tasks that no longer work properly. That’s not including the Beta free time many on here are willing to give. What I am wondering, what the heck are the 164,000 paid employees doing with their time. We pay them top dollar to put out products we need to fix for them. Maybe we are not the sharpest knives in the drawer.

I’m really shocked we never got a 16.2.1. I wonder if the logs picked up anything about that before it became clear we were only getting 16.3?

I’m more likely to install a 16.4 beta than 16.3.1 at this point.

We definitely need an update. HomeKit is broken for many of us and we haven’t been able to control our homes or share control or a combination of the two. Moreover, many features promised for iOS 16 haven’t been released yet. Considering iOS 16 was a meagre update even with this features, it’s quite embarrassing for apple than many months after the initial release they are still missing.
Yeah I’ve had to leave my HomePod stereo pair unplugged because once I plug them in, every device in my home goes to “Updating…” and is stuck there until I unplug my HomePods again.

Let’s get that HomeKit architecture fixed please, Apple. My HomePod fleet is a hot mess and I’m not spending a penny on a new one until I know mine work as intended.
I had to downgrade mine back to 16.2, luckily before it became impossible.

Unlike many, the upgrade to 16.2 and new architecture went smoothly for me, but as soon as my HomePods upgraded to 16.3, everything stopped working. So I went back, and everything has been fine again.

I'll be very nervous when it comes time to upgrade to 16.4 or whatever...

Who says we don't need it? There are multiple features Apple touted for iOS 16 but are yet to release. 16.4, and maybe 16.5 are warranted and it is valid to question when they will be out.

Among the features yet to come:

- Apple Pay Later
- Apple Card Savings Account
- Web Push Notifications
- New HomeKit Architecture
- iMessage Contact Key Verification
i'm not saying we should NEVER get 16.4. read my comment again?

when those features are ready then apple can by all means put out 16.4. it'll be a great update for sure!

Agreed. They better release a damn update for the HomePod alongside this. Everyone with the Original HomePod has to repeat EVERY command issued to Siri twice in order for it to take place. Second time works every time but you literally have to ask twice. How does this BS get through QA?

UPDATE/CORRECTION: This is happening to OGs where the architecture was updated to 2nd gen.
This is a known issue?! I reset both of my 1st gen HomePods earlier this week because I've been battling this. After that didn't help, I figured it was a firmware update I did to my APs.

Glad to know it's not just me.

Stretched too thin working on new services, rather than fixing what's already released but broken.

I agree with the one person who commented about the anticipated 16.4 features basically being a nothingburger.

Scrap this Pay Later nonsense. Nobody needs another service to help them spend money they don't have. Same with Apple saving accounts. There are a million banks and credit unions with savings accounts and liquid money market accounts. Nobody asked for this from Apple.

You know what many of us have asked for, though? Our existing products to work as advertised. And with the number of new bugs popping up in what should be stable releases, it's absurd that Apple is even considering wasting developer time on these new "features" when basic stuff that's been around for years is actually becoming less functional and more buggy -- like this HomePod issue with having to ask for everything twice. That wasn't a bug in 16.2. Or the completely botched HomeKit architecture upgrade that has no backout/downgrade process. That needs to be fixed ASAP before any iOS 16.4 betas come out with nonsense like savings accounts or another loanshark-esque payment service.

My bad. Everyone who has updated to the 2nd gen architecture, when it was previously available, has to issue the command twice to OG HomePods.
I intentionally held off upgrading to the new architecture since the risk of bugs was too high when balanced with the fact it didn’t offer any compelling new features. I’ll do the same when it’s re-released.

That's nice.

bruh people doesn't really care and this is only you thinking like that

They’re always “prepping” for the next version. Why not let us know when it’s actually released?

We’re all experts if this is what’s considered news.
You uhm, understand that this is Mac Rumors not Mac News?

Apple is always prepping some updates, but this is what they're likely, you might even say rumored, to be prepping now. There may be no 16.3.2 before 16.4. The *rumor* is that there will be a 16.3.1 before 16.4.

If that's not what you want, cool I guess. But it makes a lot more sense for this site than the actual release notification in my mind. I have Apple for that, my phone will tell me just fine.

I would be happy with 16.3.1 and even 16.3.2 if it removes most of the bugs. Then you can add more features in 16.4

Yea, ummm, understand sarcasm when you see it… I don’t add a “/s” to verify mine. It’s either get it or don’t with me.

I’ve been running betas long enough to know how they work and where to find them. But I am truly grateful for your unnecessary clarification though. Apple is always looking for geniuses of your type.
