My opinion is there’s no need to update as long as your apps still work. I’m still on iOS 15. It is a fact at this point that iOS updates slowly degrade the performance and battery life of devices. I’ve seen it personally for ten years. So don’t rush into it if your phone works fine now. People talk about security etc. but just use common sense and don’t visit shady websites.
That’s akin to saying if you drive carefully you don’t need insurance.

Will it fix my 14P from overheating, too? For the first time, my phone stopped charging until the temp went back down (paraphrasing). Starting charging at 68%, 70F and usb. It’s not just the 15.
My 14 Pro Max is also overheating at times, even on iOS 16, and now my phone is recommending a battery replacement, on a year old phone. Battery life doesn't seem like it has taken a big hit though.

That’s very strange and bad. There are a lot of posts about strange behaviour of the battery especially in the 14 models.
I would recommend to go to an apple service store. They should fix this within the warranty and replace the battery.

My wife has this new iPhone 15 Pro model and she is having difficulties trying to get online in our cabin lodge, yet it works perfectly well while she is outdoors or driving. thankfully Iam sticking with my 13.....why replace it if it still works perfectly fine.

Just got my battery replaced. They ran apple diags and it failed battery health.

We will have to see how good the new battery is. Otherwise I'll be trading it in.
