On the contrary, now with the news that Apple switched some of the OS X team to iPhone OS development, which will delay 10.7, we'll probably see a Tiger like cycle on 10.6, over 2 years. So it will go well beyond 10.6.6.

Steve Jobs responded to this with an email. It seems OS X has not been 'pushed' back.

And even if Jobs didn't directly respond to the claims, the "news" was mere speculative if I recall. Hardly confirmed.

Ha, oh yea, I'm at a rumor site. This all makes sense now ;)

Is this likely just bug fixes, or feature adds?

I don't think there was ever a feature pack release in a .x.x updates, as far as I am aware.

So most likely 10.6.4 will be mainly bug fixes with some APIs clean ups/additions, Apple added the H.264 Hardware-Accelerated Decode API in 10.6.3. Also most likely to be released in June near the iPhone release with another iTunes update.

I don't think 10.7 will be a DP preview this summer but due to the nature of 10.6, it might be out faster if Apple's just focusing on front end changes like GUI.

Noooo.... Sure they are not planning to seed 10.6.5 instead? Or will 10.6.5 come only after 10.6.4 is released? I don't know.

1 fix needed for me

Sometimes pulling out a tab in safari to make a separate window jumbles the UI on Safari's top bar and you have to minimize it and bring it back up to restore the UI. I don't know if anyone else had that problem. Hope this update could fix that. It happened after the 10.6.3 update.

So can we start the speculation and guessing as to what will be in 10.7 already ??!! :D

I'll start us off on a few lol

* Full resolution independence (or at least an option to enable it for now)
* Column view in the bottom of Cover Flow for the Finder.
* 3rd Party software update for approved applications.
* Updates to under-the-hood stuff like CUPS, Webkit, Core____
* Quicktime 7 features implemented in Quicktime X (dropping Quicktime 7)
* Snappier Safari :p (and a checkbox that enables/disables flash)
* Better language management so you can slim down the size of apps and remove unneeded language packs.

Need Active Directory Password Fix!

I hope they quickly resolve a pretty severe bug in 10.6.3 where you cannot change your AD password via System Preferences when using a mobile account.

I was ready to deploy 10.6.3 across the business (due to the other fixes present) but this has stopped us in our tracks. Bug report filed but no response yet.

The problem is all the new laptops coming in are i5 (running 10.6.3 build) so we are stuck with hardware we can't issue until it's resolved!

The weirdest thing is that there were a bunch of fixes for mobile accounts in 10.6.3, but this has really surprised us. Apple QA is normally excellent in this respect..

I'd be very interested in this. I don't know how it would/could work but with pixel pitches becoming denser and denser something has to be done so that users don't need magnifying glasses to read menus.

Here's hoping to them fixing an issue transferring files to an SMB file share. While wired it works great. Wireless? Not so much. I can copy X amount of files and they'll be copied, but then it deletes a random amount of the files I copied when complete. 10.6.3 fixed the issue while wired, not wireless.

You crazy kids and your OS X, back in my day all we had was OS 7.6.1 and that was the way we liked it!

I stopped at OS 8 and held on to that for dear life until May 2002.

From July 1994 to May 2002 I used a PowerMac 6100/60 exclusively at home. The most I ever did to it was add a new monitor after a few years and up the RAM a bit. Added a CD-ROM drive (2x speed) in December 1994. I also added an external 1GB hard drive a year before I got rid of it. Looking back, I wish I had kept it. I loved that little machine.

You people are crazy were moving on to summer lions, snow leopard was pretty pointless in my opinion. Now go buy an iPad

I think Steve thinks differently... I bet it will not go past 10.6.6 the way they have been doing these updates. I wonder what 10.7 will be called?

Apple, please fix the issue with wireless keyboard and mouse! The mouse lags so much. It is also totally random, have no idea what triggers it.

Lets hope they fix the one fairly major bug they introduced with 10.6.3: They broke the ability to write files to any SMB/Samba networked drive. What the heck were they thinking!

Luckily I'd just added AFP support to our network the week before the update, but it's still been a nuisance.

:(

Well, 7.6.1 was a great system, what was not to like :).

As for 10.6.4 ... I guess my reports finally got through to them and they will fix the iTunes dashboard widget bugs. I kid, I kid, those bugs are 6 years old now, they will never be fixed.
