Is the 27" inch LED is going to replace the 30" inch? Or is Apple will come out with even larger display

After checking with my crystal ball, it says they will omit the 20", keep the 24", add the 27"....but wait! There's more. It also said that apple will revamp their 30", wait a minute....it is also saying apple will possibly add a 35" screen with a 120ppi display

/sarcasm

The Superdrives are horrible! All of them. Why did the one in my 2006 macbook die. Why won't a new 21" iMac read 1/2 my dvd's when an external drive is fine with it. What is so super about these drives?

They WON'T play or burn Blu-ray, and such dated technology pleases His Most High Excellency.

This is the hostile attitude I really disagree with. The processors just debuted earlier this week. I just think it is amazing that people think Apple can pull these processors out of thin air. Saddly it is an attitude seen far to much on this forum. The Mac Pros will come when Apple has all of it's ducks in a row. The processor is just one of those ducks.

I was referring to the 7 year lapse in their display line, easy champ :)

Steve-o's office at Apple is a windowless garrett where NO natural light EVER shines, and he keeps the electric lights off too, lighting his screen with a single candle placed BEHIND the screen. Yes it does happen to be a red candle, but that doesn't mean anything...

As Steve-o never sees ANY reflections on HIS jackass glossy screen, so you will not either, or else!

Paint your windows black!! Turn off all overhead lights to your rear, ye even the lights in front of you too, or throughout your entire office complex! Light your screen with a single red candle BEHIND it as Steve-o does, or banish thee yourself from Apple products, forevermore!!!

And Steve-o help and have mercy on you if you so much as bring a Blu-ray into the office or surf a website with flash in His holy presence...

I was one of the few who would agree the glass (not glossy) panels were a deal breaker. When my 24" monitor (non-Apple) blew after three years, I decided on the 24" LED LCD to sit beside my (still functioning perfectly) 2004 23" ACD, and I love it. I use the 23" for print work to compare to the glass front 24" and when doing online design as well. Further, I'm using this display now with the sun shining through the windows being me. No glare :).

Although I am certain Apple will offer a non-glare model, especially for the "Pro" market.

Mock up

I thinks thats a very sweet mock up.

Atleast a full work week of photoshopping had to go in to that "enlarging the pic 1.5x"

Mock up :p

Display port

Rumours of a new display and Mac pro?
lets hope they have some refreshed up to date graphics cards also.

Maybe it's time to replace my old powermac quad g5.

I'm keeping my 30" cinema display though ;-)

What about their laptops? The C2D debuted years ago.

Sadly too that's what they said about Blu-ray capability two YEARS ago.

Don't wait for Steve-o... biggest mistake you and your company can make.

Dell wants $1100 for their comparable UltraSharp U2711 27-inch Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor, so I would imagine the ACD 27" will be around, say $1399-1499 and Apple will likely phase out the ACD 30".

Exactly, no way Apple prices near Dell, just out of general principle. Though the Dell is non-glossy... Apple is in a conundrum. Too high and it's basically on top of the 27" iMac which will have the exact same screen. Too low and they'll be priced reasonably where the Dell is and we can't have that.

I hope every single display they make from now on is glossy.

I love hearing that matte-only people moan.

You shouldn't use it where that's bothersome.

Yes, even in photography. No issue.

;)

Maybe LightPeak on this soon to be released rev?

NO thats too late. I looking to buy one at around June so this would be perfect for me. Maybe then Light peak will also be in full swing. Mass production was suppose to have started in early 2010.

Honestly I think it is a possibility. If Apple is interested in LightPeak at all this year they would need to get the hardware into the Mac Pro with this coming release. Otherwise that would turn what is normally a mid cycle updat into a major release latter in the year.

In fact I wouldn't be surprised if one or more of the Mac Book Pros get LightPeak too. It won't be the super low power version expected late in the year but it would be good for early adopters.

For real Pro users there is more hoped for in this update than just shinny new processors.

Xeon makes more sense than Core i7. Looks to be WWDC for both updates.

It looks like from past updates and Intel roadmaps that the Mac Pro is on a little over a 1 year update cycle.

This makes a lot of sense. The sooner the better.

They've got to reduce prices, too, right?

At the moment, the 27" iMac is such a better deal than the Mac Pro. You really, really have to have a need for the expandibiliy or 8/16 cores to justify the hugh cost increase.

And here it is ;-)

The new matching Mac pro!

An old mock up of mine ;-)

Same as Dell?

Isn't the 27-inch iMac display exactly the same as the Dell U2711, meaning same manufacturer (LG, as I recall)?

http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/Displays/productdetail.aspx?sku=224-8284

The Dell even has a Mac-friendly DisplayPort connector. Not to mention a ton of other connections (hdmi, 2xdvi, component, bunch of USBs, card reader, speaker attachment, etc.). More than the Apple version is likely to have.

OK, it's plastic, not metal. And the Apple one will have a little camera. But Dell frequently lowers their prices, so this is likely to realistically sell for under $1000 very soon.

I can't see Apple pricing theirs at more than $1200, especially when for $1700 you can get a the same screen attached to a computer with $200 of RAM and a $140 wireless keyboard/mouse and $129 1TB hard drive and a $129 operating system and $79 iLife and a $99 printer to boot.

I wonder how much the price gouging will be. My 5 year old Dell 24" LCD (Samsung just rebranded) with 3 year replacement warranty cost me $699 back in 2005 and still runs perfectly fine.

New 24" Samsungs and Dells and others today sell for $299-$599 depending exactly what you need which is still far cheaper than any of Apple's 24" monitors.

My guess is the price will be $1599 with, of course, a weak 1-year warranty. And no, I'm not trying to compare this single 27" Apple with any single 24-27" non-Apple so don't reply stating "but Apple's is LED!" or "but Apple's has a Firewire port!"

I like the Apple monitors...but the prices are way out there.

Another crappy mirror display and NO Mac Pro updates until June? Big fail if true. Just put the new Xeons in the Mac Pro and add the smallest possible hd together with the weakest possible dedicated gfx card and a laughable amount of ram and call it the new Mac Pro, like in the past years.
