No kidding, I'm working right now with my iPhone....and by work I mean sitting on the can!

Apple has bet the farm with the new iPad so don't see anything new coming out of Apple before May at least. It's just good marketing, if they release any new products they risk cannibalizing their iPad sales.

and maybe apple will put it in these new 27 inch displays.
acting as if it's happening today. It's just ANOTHER RUMOR. And even if true, it isn't until JUNE!
June would mean either doing something that "revolutionary" ( something other than CPU or current standard interfaces ) that didn't quite work right or some other major change. If Apple is throwing the MacPro announcement under the bus to align with LightPeak that is kind of whacked (from the consumer perspective). I could see them trying to do that though. It isn't necessary since could just sell some sort of LightPeak PCI-e card. Doesn't have to be built onto the motherboard if having birthing pains.
It's all about grabbing the undivided attention of the tech press. Nothing must interfere with the iPad. There must be nothing else "Apple" to write about through April.Right, because someone might buy a $3,000 Mac Pro desktop or 27 inch monitor when they originally wanted a 9inch ipod
This makes a lot of sense. The sooner the better.
They've got to reduce prices, too, right?
At the moment, the 27" iMac is such a better deal than the Mac Pro. You really, really have to have a need for the expandibiliy or 8/16 cores to justify the hugh cost increase.
The 24" LED LCD is $899 (as I stated) so no way they would place the 27" LED LCD any where near that price point.
Since you know Apples upgrade cycles from the past, you also know that Apple got pre release Xeons in the past,
and even anounced a new Mac Pro line before Intels announcement in the past.
you might also know that some businesses might care for VALUE for their MONEY. Something that the Mac Pro right now doesn't offer.
USB 3.0.about freaking time. Now what else will be in the new mac pros except for a 6 core processor or 12 whatever one you want?

OK. I'm the Pro that this is aimed at.
I will NOT buy a glossy screen. Period. I have a problem with the 27" iMac that I just bought - I cannot dim the screen to match what my big printers will be printing. The LCDs are too bright.
If Apple can make a non-glare 27" monitor that I can calibrate to match my printers, I'll buy one - otherwise I'll stick with NECs.
We will have the mbp's update at wwdc, like the mac pro and display cinema.
We have wait 102~106 days.![]()
I have a feeling it's going to be an eventful WWDC this year.YAYAYAYAY ABOUT TIME!!!
NOW, can we get 64bit, Cocoa, Grand Central, Open CL Final Cut Studio now so we can actually UTILIZE all of this power Apple PLEAAAASSSEEEE?!?!?!![]()
Isn't the 27-inch iMac display exactly the same as the Dell U2711, meaning same manufacturer (LG, as I recall)?

The Dell even has a Mac-friendly DisplayPort connector. Not to mention a ton of other connections (hdmi, 2xdvi, component, bunch of USBs, card reader, speaker attachment, etc.). More than the Apple version is likely to have.
OK, it's plastic, not metal. And the Apple one will have a little camera. But Dell frequently lowers their prices, so this is likely to realistically sell for under $1000 very soon.
I can't see Apple pricing theirs at more than $1200, especially when for $1700 you can get a the same screen attached to a computer with $200 of RAM and a $140 wireless keyboard/mouse and $129 1TB hard drive and a $129 operating system and $79 iLife and a $99 printer to boot.
