hopefully they will fix slow shutdown times.

Is it just me or (unfortunately) somebody else is having same problem?

I was having this issue. Would take 20 seconds or so to shut down. Lately it has seemed to be much faster. Not sure why. Only takes a few seconds now.

How long is too long for you?

I've got no issues on my Mac Mini but then it's new (and my first Mac) so I'm not sure how long it's meant to take... that and I've had to get used to the quite epic 5 to 10 minutes it takes my work Dell Latitude takes to shut down - Vista really is a steaming pile of turd....

The Mac Mini boots up and shuts down far faster than any of my windows machines including my similarly specced Core i5 laptop (win7 64bit)

Because you'll then have 0 security when using your Mac...

What do you mean? Could you explain more and recommend what should be done instead? I've never had any issues when having only 1 account. Are you suggesting that I mac another account/user and use that instead?

I've timed shutdown time at 19 seconds. Sometimes it's couple of seconds (can't really tell but comfortably under 3 seconds).

There's a major difference between enabling and using the Root account and simply using the default Administrator account. It sounds to me like you're using an Admin account.

I hope this fixes issues Im having with my iMac after installing ML. I must constantly restart it after it wakes up from sleep mode…Airport gets disabled, Safari and Mail are always freezing:eek:

I had that issue, but for me a "clean" install did the trick. I cloned my drive, reformatted from the recovery partition, reinstalled OS X, and then migrated from my backup. It's been smooth sailing ever since.

Something like this happens to me too. Not constantly, but I had to force shutdown (holding the power button) at least 5 times already.

Overall I'm very pleased with Mountain Lion, love the new features and it definitely feels faster than Lion. But I hope those terrible system wide freezes will be fixed ASAP. I almost feel like back in the good old days of Windows computing. :D

same issue. i upgraded my mbp with an SSD a while ago and it always used to shut down almost instantly. now its taking quiet some time on ML. almost as if i still got my old school hdd inside

I'm having trackpad gesture issues, swiping between screens and swipe for notification stops working on wake. Though at least it is going to sleep on it's own for a change. I've also had half a dozen major crashes. Hope 10.8.1 fixes all that.
Also Little Snitch wants €15 for an upgrade...

Bizarrely, ML fixed my no Airport on wake problem, broke other things though.

Hopefully they fix the Top Sites page thumbnails not indicating when updates have occurred for the web sites on the page in Safari 6.

Nothing serious here, but under Lion (as well as ML developer previews), my system knew that it was running on battery and lowered the screen brightness and brightened it once I plugged it in. It doesn't anymore. It leaves it the last way it was. Not a big deal, just something minor.

What else....ummm....I got nothing.
