According to a report from 9to5Mac, stock of iWork '09 is running low at retail Apple Stores. Meanwhile, Apple's online store auto-completes "iWork 11" as a possibility when searching for "iWork". While none of these findings are particularly conclusive, we have heard that Apple is planning on launching iWork '11 alongside the Mac App Store.

Apple has since given the date of January 6th, 2011 as the launch date for the Mac App Store. Last we heard, Apple was still debating whether or not they would also offer a retail box version of their productivity suite or keep it a Mac App Store exclusive.

Promotional materials for the Mac App Store have shown the three iWork applications, Pages, Keynote, and Numbers, available on an individual basis for $19.99 each, below Apple's current $79 price for the complete retail box suite.

I know I'll get hell for this :p, but I've never found any use for most of the ilife and iwork applications apart from iMovie and iDVD, but iDVD has always failed on me, at least for 80% of the time, I would always experience syncing issues where the audio and video wasn't in sync..

I guess its great if you can make use out of these applications..

Sod this release... Bring on the MBP launch date!

This whole Mac App store is a stupid idea.....all it's gonna do is....

....cost me money.

I always thought that was just google suggestions being used. With filtering that is.

Nothing to do with apple.

What would be new if true?

I completely agree. I've used Numbers once for a basic invoice template. I've always found Microsoft Office to be far more practical. iLife is great for some people but I only dabble in photography and prefer Aperture.

Hum, most people would guess yes.

3 iwork apps were on the iPad first, so of course it's also going to be on Mac App Store at launch.

well, the damn app store will come wether it's good for us or not.

we can only hope that iWorks 11 is an improved version and not a dumbed down app store version that we have to pay for if we want to "upgrade". the example of iLife/iPhoto makes me fear for the worst.

I really want this. I use Pages almost daily for both of my jobs, and keynote almost as often. Numbers is neglected, but I do use it when needed. Can't wait for an update.

I use Pages and Numbers extensively in my business and find their ease of use makes up for any extra weight that Word/Excel may (debatably) have. In fact, for 90% of what I do they are great; they just need a little more work on the business related side of things eg reading more csv file types eg semi-colon delimited files and better mailmerge functionality - as well as dozens of other small tweaks. The graphs could be heaps better too.

I will only be upgrading if I can get a DVD hard copy. I'll buy a non-essential software via download, but all my main apps must come on tangible media.

Please, please, please Apple, fix Keynote so the slides aren't locked to the top-left corner. It makes complex animation work difficult if not impossible. Give us 360 degrees of open pasteboard like *gulp* PowerPoint.

iWeb '11, please? Otherwise it's off to RapidWeaver 5 I go.

I am so with you on this one. In fact, after the latest, rather anemic iLife '11 update my hopes are now pinned on iWeb '11 and some form of iTunes LP/xTras app to be released through the app store.

I got a legit retail box of iWork '09 for a lot less than $60. If anything, the point of launching these apps online-only is to stop steep discounting.

I hope iWork '11 fixes the sillier bugs and feature omissions.

I've never had any use for iwork but im gonna leave a useless post here anyways because im sure all you guys care.

Real pumped for this. I use iWork almost exclusively on my Mac and I intend to keep it that way. That trash Microsoft calls a "productivity suite" is bloatware at its finest and I won't use it unless I really have to.

Hoping for a spruced up Pages and beefed up Keynote, notably. At $19.99 a pop too, would be slick.
