Surely we'll get an iPad refresh? If nothing else, they need to bump the RAM to 512MB so it matches the iPhone and presumably the fourth iPod.

They still haven't caught up to demand of the current models, so why would they introduce something so soon. Don't expect anything, except maybe the rumored 7" version, until next year.

Maybe, but I just can't believe they're selling this $500+ device with a 10" screen but worse hardware than the iPhone and soon the iPod. Seems like if nothing else they'll bump the RAM to equal it. Heck, I was shocked it didn't LAUNCH with 512MB.

EDIT: I'll still be fairly surprised if they don't at least quietly bump it around the same time they introduce iOS 4. Heck, I wouldn't be shocked if they already have but no one's noticed yet.

I went to my local BestBuy to get an iPad for my wife. They had MANY iPads available, so I don't know how real this supposed demand / lack of supply is.

FWIW, she loves her iPad. I am annoyed that you have to plug it into a computer at least once to get rolling though - that is dumb dumb dumb.

hoping apple gets with the times and get the cloud starting. Hate on microsoft all you want all thier major products work on a cloud based system that works perfectly. Main reason i only use zune for TV and movies.

Well I know one thing for sure.. I'm gonna be absent from the iPod forums from September 1st to about November.. :p

Oh, And @Peace: Check the registrar: It's just some company that buys any kind of associated domain name for large enterprises so someone else can't get it.. Hell, I'm sure apple aren't bothered about paying $8 to register it each year ^^

Better check my post zgain

As long as we don't have to suffer John Mayer again....

Whats wrong with John Mayer?

This is going to be a big event for Apple's music-related activities.

Has anybody speculated that there might be an iPad equivalent of GarageBand coming out?

I wonder if it could have anything to do with music?

About the main picture, somebody already mentioned '******'. It might have been me...

Anyway, I still dream of a simple software like Winamp to play my music without even launching iTunes or relying on the library iTunes creates. I also dream about drag-and-drop on my iPods and iPhone. But it's not going to happen.

Finally, I wonder which artist will appear on stage. I expect someone boring, like Jamie Cullum, Norah Jones, Jack Johnson or a few artists whose names I can't even remember now. Anything for the baby boomers to look cool!

Wow that seems kind of extravagant for a 1 hour or so media event.
Do they even go that far (covering the front of the building) for WWDC, it's a week long at least.

I hope you're right, that Apple still has its eye on Nike+. Unfortunately, Nike+ doesn't work on iPhones or iPod touches running iOS4, and neither Apple nor Nike have officially acknowledged the problem.

It works fine on my iPhone 4 with iOS 4.02. Can't speak to older devices, but if you have iPhone 4, it should work.

Dunno if anyone has mentioned this yet or not, but Moscone/Yerba Buena is going to be an unbelievable zoo on the 1st. Between VMworld 2010 and the Apple media event, that area's gonna be packed. And anyone with an AT&T smartphone (myself included - will be there for VMworld) is gonna be 100% SOL for any kind of 3G data service that day. Last year, AT&T couldn't even keep up with VMworld alone, let alone that crowd PLUS a sea of media bloggers. Gaaaah...!

Should be fun. ;)

What about manual sync? That's drag and drop right there....

Also, could it be Lady GaGa? She was at Apple HQ a few weeks ago...

Finally, hello! 6 strings+4 dots = iTunes 10! *note my sarcasm, you really can't draw much from tat image other than the fact that someone had a great idea for a promo for this event*

what is this "64 bit" Everyone is talking about it.

64 bit is a technology for CPUs. A CPU that supports 64 bit, can do tasks twice as fast as 32 bit. So Re-writing iTunes in 64 but will increase the speed, but to make it 64 bit, Apple must re-write iTunes in cocoa. iTunes is written in Carbon at the moment. Carbon is an old fading tech. Apple even want developers to use Cocoa and not Carbon, but Apple is too lazy to re-write iTunes in Cocoa

Yeah. A promo promoting an IPOD event for laddy gagga? So what? Your saying we will have lady gagge branded ipods? perhaps all iPods will come in the shape of lady gagga?

Umm, not exactly. 64-bit refers to the length of a memory address. A longer address will allow you to address more memory. Using more memory can speed up some tasks. Making iTunes 64-bit would likely yield a speed increase, because it could benefit from more efficient memory usage.

The rest of your post is pretty accurate, except I don't think iTunes being written in Carbon is necessarily laziness. I have a feeling there's a good reason, though I'm sure it will be Cocoa finally in the next release or the one following at least.

iTunes won't be carbon free until the underlying QT is pure Cocoa.

it will take longer since they have to make sure the current itunes eco system will work well with the new one, and even then if they rewrite it. it may be given a new name since itunes is more then just "tunes" now.

Ok, thanks for the correction. I could have sworn i heard from an Apple Keynote that 64 bit allows the CPU to do math twice as fast than 32 bit. A CPU doing math is the same as the CPU processing info right? I was aware that 64 bit allows more than 4 GB to be used, but iTunes doesn't use 4 GB anyways.
