Apple introduced a new iMac today with the M4 chip and more, but that's not all, as it still has two more Mac announcements planned this week.

"This is a huge week for the Mac, and this morning, we begin a series of three exciting new product announcements that will take place over the coming days," said Apple's hardware engineering chief John Ternus, in a video announcing the new iMac.

Based on rumors, those two announcements are very likely to be new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max chip options, along with a redesigned, smaller Mac mini with M4 and M4 Pro chip options and two front-facing USB-C ports. Just like the new iMac today, press releases and YouTube videos for the new MacBook Pro and Mac mini models are likely on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.

Below, we reiterate what to expect from the new MacBook Pro and Mac mini models.

MacBook Pro

Apple is expected to announce new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, including an entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M4 chip, and higher-end 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with M4 Pro and M4 Max chips.

No major external design changes have been rumored for the laptops this year, with improvements such as an OLED display and thinner design not expected until 2026 at the earliest. However, the entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro is expected to gain an additional Thunderbolt port compared to the current model, based on alleged leaks earlier this month. Those same leaks revealed that the MacBook Pro lineup might finally start with 16GB of RAM, instead of 8GB, which was rumored even before the leaks happened. As another clue, the new iMac has a minimum of 16GB of RAM for all configurations.

Apple last redesigned the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro in 2021, and the latest models with the M3 family of chips were released last October.

Mac mini

A concept of a smaller Mac mini

The next Mac mini is expected to be available with M4 and M4 Pro chip options. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman expects the next Mac mini to be smaller, making it closer in size to an Apple TV, and he said that the computer will gain two front-facing USB-C ports. All in all, the Mac mini is expected to receive its biggest redesign since 2010.

Like the new iMac, the next Mac mini could also start with 16GB of RAM, instead of 8GB.

The new MacBook Pro and Mac mini models will likely be available to pre-order starting this week, and they are expected to launch in November. The new iMac became available to pre-order today, and it launches on Friday, November 8.

I wonder if they will announce a new Apple TV one of these days as well? USB-C accessories were a bonus announcement with iMacs today.

Didn't I see somewhere that Apple are also supposed to be updating the Apple TV box?

Nobody really knows

The things they could upgrade on an ATV may not be worth doing right now

There haven't really been many video/content spec changes worth chasing, so it would just be a CPU bump, which is of very little utility to most ATV users I suspect

Mac Mini has my attention

Would love for it to be able to work with a Siri Remote for under TV usages

Sort of an Apple TV Pro
Can you explain how / where you gonna use it for on your TV? Seems like a good idea and reason to keep my M2 Mini and get the new one soon.

Well, I would use it as a full blown Mac at my TV (with wireless keyboard/mouse too)

But -- ideally, we could get them to release "tvOS" as a standalone Mac App that you could launch to turn that Mac Mini into an Apple TV on a whim

Way back when we used to have this exact thing .. it was called "Front Row" at the time

Ternus and Joz are working really hard to set clear expectations about this week’s roll-outs. Most excited for tomorrow as I’m pretty sure it’s when we’ll get the mini.

Looks good so far. $1,499 for 10c/16gb iMac is a pretty solid deal.

That's right, everyone, this is a HUGE week for the Mac. This week, Apple will announce the BEST, MOST POWERFUL, MOST CAPABLE Macs that Apple has ever released. This takes things to a WHOLE NEW LEVEL. And Apple didn't stop there. These are the FIRST EVER Macs built FOR APPLE INTELLIGENCE! This changes everything, all over again.

I reckon...
Tuesday - MacBook Pro with M4 / M4 Pro/ M4 Max.
Wednesday - Mac Mini M4 / M4 Pro

I think they'll leave a 'brand new' product until last as a headline act / one more thing and wouldn't want to introduce the M4 Pro chip before the MacBook Pros introduce both it and the Max.

That would mean the Mac mini announcement can concentrate on the design rather than give the M4 Pro a huge introductory fanfare because we learnt about that the day before.

I think barring a spec change, yeah, it'll be updated when it's more cost effective for Apple to stick a new SOC in it. The second gen 4K was the last device on the A12, the A15 in the third gen is still being used in the iPhone SE and both 14 models.

Yes I want to use it in the same way, but using my iPP M4 Magic Keyboard whilst sitting on the sofa to control the Mac Mini completely so that I don't have to use wireless keyboard and mouse.

I think that sounds about right. MBP's tomorrow, Mini's Wednesday. We'll see...

Agreed.

Will be the specced bumped MacBooks tomorrow, and the all new mini on Wednesday followed by a hands on session.

Where have you been past 2 months? This has been iterated 2x a week for past few months

Was so disappointed with today's reveals until I watched the keynote and realised that the MacBook Pro is coming Tuesday or Wednesday....
