I am very glad they did this and WAYYY more glad that they freely admit to much more work needing to be done and have committed to doing it. MoblieMe is really lacking right now and the fact that they realize and admit this is a good thing. Perhaps this platform will not end up stagnant and defeated like .mac after all. YAY!

The potential is there and I am glad they realize it.

Mobileme has worked fine for me. Getting 90 extra days is great. I use it more for syncing contacts and calendar than for mail.

I just got this email as well. When I went to check my expiration date, they had credited me with the previous 30 day extension. I'm sure it will take awhile to register the new extension.

I think this is a good move on Apple's part. 90 days of free service should help compensate for all of the problems that MobileMe has experienced.

Ummmmm... What do they mean "MobileMe problems"? I have yet to have any problems whatsoever with my Mail or MobileMe service. Everything is running flawlessly for me.

Was Mobile Me having troubles?

Weeeeeeeee, I never had any - plus a 90 day extension, sweet.

at least something. mobile me works now for me. it pushes almost always. emails arrive almost always within a few minutes after sending. deleting mails on my iphone doesn't work. the mails reappear within seconds. i have to delete everything twice:rolleyes:
ical seems to work fine. addressbook as well. seems they are getting there. in about 60 days it will be all fine.

I just wish I could get an iphone. I can't get one at the 'member price' until February! AT&T won't let me 'upgrade equipment' until them...:(

Still wondering what purpose it serves to deny your customers the ability to upgrade their phones...

just got the email, can't complain. This came at the right time as my membership was up Saturday. :D Now hopefully apple will release new MBP in september and i get the discount price and wait to activate it.

Pushing calendar changes to the cloud still seems a bit flaky but everything else is generally ok. I still haven't paid for MobileMe yet, so I'm not complaining.

Say what you will about the launch, but once the dust settles, Apple takes care of their customers. I am happy that they have extended the service for everyone. Kudos Apple.

I guess Eddy's already started mending things up!:p

But this definitely is great since I for one wasnt having (m)any troubles at all!

P.S.: What excites me the most is the viewpoint through which the whole mail was scribed.... it simply emphasizes that we can expect many more features in the coming months!:D

this is awesome. my account would have ended back in the beginning of august but i keep getting these little free time. :)

i haven't had any mobileme problems but i guess i should knock on wood...

shame

i am sorry for all those people who are having trouble. i haven't had 5 minutes trouble since day one of the rollover, and i am impressed that they keep updating people and adding free days.

all in all while it seems a nightmare for some people, it has done nothing for me but impress me more and more on Apples part......

That is part of the deal Apple had to make with AT&T. If people didn't have to wait, than they would be getting new phones for dirt cheap all the time. AT&T would lose money.

As a late adopter for this particular CPU I am neither a victim nor a beneficiary of this event. The other CPU's I have have not logged on to this since the first anomoly was noted on this website.

I suspect they will be beneficiaries when/if I feel logging on is safe.

Here is a case where early adopters are punished by Apple. History repeats itself.

Steve, where is MacDraw with roundrecs for MacTel CPUs?

Gentlemen, I suggest treading lightly and backing up not only the primary sets but the backups themselves until further notice.

Remember Mac OS 7.0? Be scared. :)

Rocketman

Very happy about this extension and was thankfully spared most of the MoblieMe headaches. Actually MM helped me two weeks ago when someone accidently drenched my PB with Cote de Rhone. With the PB dead I was able to easily sync all my mail settings, Safari bookmarks (many years of them), calendar, and contacts all into a temporary iBook while I await the next line of MBP's to come out.

Good news

It's nice to now have a total of 90 days for free. I haven't had HUGE problems with mobileme, but then again:

-Push doesn't work for me at all (I only ever get email on my phone when I open the app)
-I have to delete most emails twice on the iPhone for them to actually delete.
-Email doesn't sync to the 'cloud' (such a dubious word/concept! but if fits so well with the ethereal non-working nature of the current service!) but strangely it does between my phone, iMac and MBP.
-I can only get calendar and contact updates to my phone if I turn off push, shut down reboot, then turn push back on.

I can live with all of these for now (after all, my phone company doesn't even provide Edge, much less 3G!), but I'd like to see them fixed for now.
