It is a very poor photograph. Poorly framed. Poorly composed. Poorly lit. Based on her longevity in a highly demanding role at a very successful corporation I would say that the evidence points to high competence and diligence in her job. Having said that, it appears that she is also a physically attractive woman, IMO.
The day any of you start working for Apple, in any really meaningful position, is the day I truly lose all hope for the company.
How did this thread end up about a women's photo, then about a women who served Apple well and is retiring?![]()
Really? She's pretty.
Also, gz on being sexist![]()
It's interesting to see how many MR posters are only able to see a female as an object. It was inevitable that there would quickly be comments about her looks. I guess computer nerds have so little interaction with real women that they don't understand that they have actual talents and abilities and don't just exist to give you a turn on.
Give this thread some time. Even with people now alerted to the issue, there will be plenty of inappropriate gender comments.
who ever took her headshot should be fired.
Edit: To quell all of the people that for some reason said my comments were sexist. Even though I didn't mention her gender or looks at all
Why this picture is bad:
1. It's a forced smile any good photographer can get a person to show their true relaxed smile and or look. Believe me I suffer from the same problem
2. It's shot upward just a tiny bit, which is never flattering.
3. The picture is too hard, too small of an aperture, or over processing. it should have been shot wide open 5.6 or 2.8 maybe even 1.2/1.8
4. ^ which is why there is some type of motion blur or focusing issues around the eyes. can't figure out what is wrong, but something is off
5. She's smiling in one direction and looking in another. Some simple composition could fix that.
6. I'd think that Apple would have better photographers at their disposal.
For the record she looks pretty to me, just poorly photographed.
I'll only say this one thing and that will be it. It's something I always notice about the liberal SJWs.
On topic like the one about Tim Cook, there were literally pages and pages of people talking about his awful forced smile. No mention of anything.
On the Carl Icahn topic, we had pages and pages of people freaked out over how horrible he looked. Again, no mention of sexism, but I do believe someone called him dracula.
Page 1 of this topic, same responses, and out come the SJWs to call people sexist due to it being a woman. Same responses, same argument, only difference is it's a woman. And this is when the SJW's respond.
It should be painfully obvious who the real sexists are. Because while they call others sexist, they also spend their time bashing 'nerds'. Because obviously, if you feel like somebody is being mistreated, mistreating others is the answer.
Interesting how articles with pictures of male apple execs don't get so much criticism for how they look.
I so much want the world to be a place where people can just be judged by what they do and not by their skin color or attractiveness. So, my response was more to a number of events that have happened recently rather than this particular story. And if if offended anyone, I openly apologize for being overly sensitive to this issue and over-reacting.

The photo (of the photo) is severely "zoomed-in" and then "cropped". Maybe MacRumors need to be fired?

Looks perfectly fine to me.

It's sexist that anyone is commenting on her looks (good or bad) at all in a discussion about her professional career as a VP. Her appearance shouldn't even enter into the discussion - it's not the slightest bit relevant. If the story was about a male, this conversation wouldn't even be happening.
...
ANYONE can have a bad picture taken of them.
...
One woman in. One woman out. Well done Apple.
