Really? She's pretty.

Also, gz on being sexist :)

Wait, he is sexist for saying a woman is ugly? Thats not what sexism is, i realize this is off topic but if i say a black person is ugly, i think they are ugly because they are ugly not because they are black, same thing with women.

Interesting how articles with pictures of male apple execs don't get so much criticism for how they look.

HAHA! You dont read enough threads, There are comments about the looks of pretty much every article about Jony Ive and Tim Cook.

Perhaps you need a lesson in reading comprehension. My post said some and you respond with all. If something does't apply to you then ignore it.

"I guess computer nerds have so little interaction with real women that they don't understand that they have actual talents and abilities and don't just exist to give you a turn on."

Where do you say some?

who ever took her headshot should be fired.

Edit: To quell all of the people that for some reason said my comments were sexist. Even though I didn't mention her gender or looks at all

Why this picture is bad:

1. It's a forced smile any good photographer can get a person to show their true relaxed smile and or look. Believe me I suffer from the same problem

2. It's shot upward just a tiny bit, which is never flattering.

3. The picture is too hard, too small of an aperture, or over processing. it should have been shot wide open 5.6 or 2.8 maybe even 1.2/1.8
4. ^ which is why there is some type of motion blur or focusing issues around the eyes. can't figure out what is wrong, but something is off
5. She's smiling in one direction and looking in another. Some simple compositions. could fix that.
6. I'd think that Apple would have better photographers at their disposal.

For the record she looks pretty to me, just poorly photographed.

Just wanted to support you in that the picture is in fact terrible, my first thought was exactly that. And those people blaming you of being sexist are rather ridiculous. For what reason anyway? You didn't even comment on her appearance but merely on the photographer's skills.

You're both wrong.

It's sexist that anyone is commenting on her looks (good or bad) at all in a discussion about her professional career as a VP. Her appearance shouldn't even enter into the discussion - it's not the slightest bit relevant. If the story was about a male, this conversation wouldn't even be happening.

How old is she? She looks quite young to be retiring. She's quite fortunate to be retiring at such an early age. Good for her.

I think he was being sarcastic.

Is it sexist when people comment on the picture that goes with Macrumors Carl Icahn stories?

True, up to the point where you say it wouldn't happen if this subject of the story was male. Any person's photo published in a story here will result in some (or many) juvenile comments about his or her appearance. Sadly.

My point exactly.

Wow. Sure is a high level of low self-esteem in this thread. I'm doubting the picture is even an official Apple portrait that she had any control over. But at any rate who cares. She was brilliant what she did and I doubt she is actually retiring. It's a nice way of saying she's <quitting> been at the Apple job for a long time and looking to do something different; like set up her own shop after a brief hiatus.

Tim Cook, Carl Icahn,Steve Balmer,Scott Forstall are just a few that have received the same feedback and they're all men....

It's just a picture.

I agree. The photo is badly done. The 'smile' almost looks like a grimace to me (if that's the only way she can smile, then apologies to the photographer).

It's hardly sexist to comment on a bad picture of anyone. There are other PR headshots I've thought were badly done as well. (from apple and other companies)

ANYONE can have a bad picture taken of them. I could point you to every selfie I've ever taken. :)

If not sexist, you should consider that it might appear to be awfully shallow.

Working in Apple PR is something like working for the minister of Peace in 1944 Germany.

Yes, flacking consumer computers and electronic gadgets is just like covering up mass murder and forced work camps. :roll eyes:

How moronic to write something like that even in jest.

Is the picture in question an official Apple PR headshot or is it just your assumption?

So, it's OK to because, "Boys will be boys." Gotcha

Geez, calm the ***** down. First of all, as has already been pointed out to you on this thread, the comments were about the quality of the photo, not her relative attractiveness as a female.

Second, yes, "boys will be boys." And "girls will be girls." It's probably safe to assume that the predominant gender of Macrumors members are male. To that end, they are largely attracted to females. When they see an attractive female it attracts their attention. I'm fairly certain that pictures of handsome men on websites that cater to women probably spawn comments.

You should accept that, and realize that it is, in fact biology, and that's what has caused our species to survive.

It is a very poor photograph. Poorly framed. Poorly composed. Poorly lit. Based on her longevity in a highly demanding role at a very successful corporation I would say that the evidence points to high competence and diligence in her job. Having said that, it appears that she is also a physically attractive woman, IMO.
