As far as I know, they don't know what's happening. I asked about getting refund and the rep stated that could be arranged, but I really want my iPad. I have waited for it this long so I guess I can wait a few more days. As long as it doesn't take another three weeks for me to get the thing.

Well it sounds like you are getting some satisfaction from the reps. I think you should be focused on getting 'the model of iPad you paid for' and worry less about 'the iPad that was in the truck and almost at my door'. Clearly someone made a mistake, nobody is actively trying to withhold an iPad from you (why would they do this?). I doubt it will take three weeks. Just think - if the delivery notice had said it was showing up two days from now, and you never had someone wait at the door, none of this would be an issue. And you might still get it two days from now.
 
If they're selling millions per month, then they should not have a problem compensating the guy for his frustration.

Sorry, but I am with the others... Drama much? It is just an iPad and not the end of the world. People and systems make mistakes and it was, for the most part, correct with a simple (and I do mean simple) phone call. The only thing you are entitled to is what you paid for when it gets to you. If you don't like the delivery method I suggest you buy them from a store next time. :rolleyes:

I completely empathize with the OP. He altered his schedule, made all the arrangements to have someone there to accept the package, and spent hours on the phone. And, he's not allowed to be the slightest bit frustrated? Time is money-- he deserved to be compensated in some way.

I work from home and I'm paid hourly. Each minute I spend on the phone trying to work out a situation like this, I'm literally losing money. I don't blame the OP for expecting something in return for fixing someone else's issues. I'd say that $100 is pretty fair!

I just received an email saying that a replacement iPad 2 had been issued to me and I would be receiving carrier info and a tracking number as soon as it ships. Hopefully it's soon and fast shipping!

It's on my order page as "Prepared for Shipment" which generally ships in 24-48 hours from that. I'm hoping to hear something tomorrow, and not have to wait all weekend. It does worry me that the order page also says "Ships June 23, Delivers by June 30" as it's a present for my girlfriend's birthday that is June 18! I'm sure it'll be ok.

Hope you get your iPad soon, I'm sure you will.
 
The Apple discussions are all about this right now. If you have a Verizon iPad it seems they are getting recalled or something.

I hope you get before her birthday! I would tell a rep about that. Mine were for my kids. We are not giving them to them until we receive the White one arrives . My wife is holding the other and setting it all up.

It is the MEID number associated with the device. When setting up the 3G service the device thinks it is another device and wants to know the username and password. New customers can't set up or use the 3G service from Verizon. It is the CDMA network on how the network activates devices. If it was GSM AKA ATT, put in a new SIM card and all is good to go. With CDMA you do not get this easy solution.

Maybe you are getting treated like everyone else...that's the point.

It sounds like a FedEx issue...or delivery issue...why would Apple withhold two of your iPads?
 
I read on the Apple forum that approximately 2000 Verizon iPads were recalled for some reason not disclosed. Not sure if this is fact or not, but from all reports, it seems that only Verizon iPads are affected.

Probably...I'd love to know.

I definitely have some issues with mine (early White 64GB 3G Verizon).

I don't mean to "poo poo" your pain...I'd be feeling it too, but it's alright to "shoot the messenger" if it was the messengers fault. fedEx is stingy on the concessions though.

Hope you get info soon, got kinda irritated with people being all not understanding. Trust me I would kill fed ex if it happened to me. UPS did something exactly the same but to a video game which makes no sense to me. I don't get this though if it was a bad batch why did you get one of them? Kinda sketchy I do believe it being a problem with their system but then you wouldn't have gotten the first one. What seems to be more logical is that they "lost it" and don't want anything with apple so they are trying to hold back as much as they can. I would just wait another three weeks and be a happy camper but get your money back. As for me I drove back and forth till I found it in an Apple store they seriously have to keep more in stock its so annoying for them not having any. Best of luck this is very interesting thread as the stolen iPad.
 
While I sympathize with you because I would have been upset (more so about the fact that I didnt have an answer as to what was going on, not that I didnt get the 2nd one right away) you need to learn what "intense frustration" really entails.

You should also really count your blessings. I don't think you were entitled to a form of credit or reimbursement at all. Try spending gas money when it's $4 a gallon to drive back and forth an hour each way to an Apple store multiple times the first month you own a product to get issues resolved because they want you to take it in to a Genius rather than shipping it back in. Apple offered me 2 free accessories for my 1st gen iPad when that happened. I hoped for some form of reimbursement - but expected nothing.
