Updating to ios11 on my iPad Air 2 forced me to do a factory refresh and of course I didn’t back up first.

Is there still a way I can offload it the app from my iPad Pro to iTunes and install from there?

ProTube no longer shows in my purchased apps even though I do own it.

It really doesn’t matter. Apple has kill switches now. The app won’t work at all.

The app works fine, I just want to transfer the app to new iPad.

I’ve researched this quite a bit because I have the same issue. Due to something called app thinning since iOS 9(?) the entire app isn’t downloaded to the device if downloading through the device App Store (can’t transfer app purchases to iTunes anymore either). So basically the ONLY way is to have iTunes download app purchases automatically from devices when they happen, but if you didn’t set that up then you’re basically screwed. So you and I are screwed and I’m not updating my iPad to iOS 11 until I can figure something out.

I found a desktop app that probably will work called iMazing but they want $30.
I’m not paying $30 To recover a single app.
Apple should have a process to allow you to redownload apps that you paid for.

Just had my iPad replaced under warranty and ProTube is disabled... never had this behaviour for any other app

It’s not disabled, just no longer available - however this is probably new behaviour, and also what can happen if you enable the new iOS 11 feature ”Offload unused apps”. In iOS 11.0 the description for that feature specifically stated that apps will be reinstalled when you need them if they are still available on app store. In iOS 11.0.1 the wording has changed and this bit is no longer mentioned.

As I recall, they only use the kill switches in cases of data security/not simply Google or some company changing how they want things to work.

and where is my money now? I have paid the app for two weeks ago.
If you just bought it, you can probably get a refund. Just explain why.

I tried a little experiment that should have worked.

I found the latest ProTube file online.

I launched an older version of iTunes that displayed the Apps section.
I added the file to iTunes.
I hooked up my restored iPad.
I choose to install the app locally from the list.
Synched and disconnected.

No go. Apple has gone out of their way to not let you use apps they don't want you to.

The app is on my home screen buy grayed out. Trying to launch just shows an error.

Curious, is this on iOS 11 or still 10-whatever?

So the replacement that I was using.. Musi, officially was pull as well. Awesome discovery after unboxing a thousand dollar phone and restoring from a backup. /s

It's much nicer outside of the walled garden where you can actually use your devices as it bests suits you.

The fact that YouTube doesn't even support audio-only or background playing is just dismal.

Indeed, and that's on YouTube / Google / Alphabet, not Apple.

Sure, but at least when you're free of the walled garden, you don't have to deal with software being removed from the one and only place you can get it.

It's too bad for everyone that paid for it. I was thinking of getting it recently so it's just as well it got pulled now and not right after buying it.

Works fine here.

Then again I am using the new modded Protube someone uploaded for free that fixed it for us! You can only use it if you already paid for Protube previously on the app store I believe. I am not 100% sure on that but about 90% sure.
