Stock has has alerts, as I’ve gotten them, eg. rain in 5 minutes, smog alerts, frost/freeze alerts. I’m using 4 weathers till the end of Dark Sky just to compare & contrast. The alerts do not pop-up at the same time though, so you’ll want to try and find the best for your area.So maybe I can ask all of you. I never used the stock app and always used the Weather Channel app just for severe weather alerts alone. Now the Weather Channel app has been pure ads, buggy UI, and begging for money. I thought well the new Stock Weather app is supposed to be great let me switch to that. I get an alert from Weather Channel about severe weather click the banner and it doesn't open (been a bug lately with the weather channel app) but I get nothing from the stock app and when I open the stock app I see no severe weather alert.
Does the Stock app not do severe weather alerts? I feel like something so basic should be easy lately the only way I get a decent weather alert is Alexa if I'm at home.
Right now we are under a freeze watch. Weather Channel popped an alert and has a banner in the app.Stock has has alerts, as I’ve gotten them, eg. rain in 5 minutes, smog alerts, frost/freeze alerts. Totally agree. Dark Sky still has a much easier way to show when to expect rain and by what percentage is the likelihood. In the revamped Apple Weather, you have to make several clicks to get that information. In Dark Sky, that information is just right there.I still like Dark Sky better, but the new weather app is loads better than the old one.
The Dark Sky API is now rebranded as WeatherKit:Will the Dark Sky weather source shut down as well?
Dark Sky in its heyday was an astounding demo app, with very accurate hyperlocal precipitation notifications. But its accuracy gradually declined and the app's UI was neglected.
Despite few flaws, Apple's Weather app is one of the best built-in apps on the iOS, iPadOS, and macOS, with tons of details and snazzy UI. Its precipitation notification is not up to snuff and Apple really needs to improve and open up WeatherKit to high volume use.
anyone know a good alternative that works like dark sky on the watch and the phone? the stock weather app is trash on the watch. its so annoying they’re retiring this app. 🤦♀️
Dark Sky isn't glanceable either. It actually shows less information than Apple Weather and requires MORE scrolling.Apple’s weather app is one of the worst user interfaces imaginable. Information should be attainable at a glance - open the app, have readily quick access to everything at a glance. It’s not even close, it draws your eyes all over the place, you have to scroll, click, transition between tabs and windows to get a clear understanding of all the necessities of weather.
Truly awful. Laughably bad.
It is. I’ve asked Siri if it’s rainin, she said no….but it was, and continued to rain for 30 minutes last week 😳🫣Rain prediction is dreadful in the Apple app. It frequently contradicts itself. Daily summary will say no rain is expected in the next 24 hours, right next to a chart showing rain at specific times in the same period.![]()
I wonder if that's the private relay moving your location to a different placeIt is. I’ve asked Siri if it’s rainin, she said no….but it was, and continued to rain for 30 minutes last week 😳🫣
I know right!? all the information should be on the page that you can scroll and the drop down menu can be a filter. Best of both world.I’m finding it annoying to have to drill down several layers to get any kind of information on the forecast, such as wind chill and precipitation amounts.
Do they both use the same data sources?
