I am going to struggle in 2023 to deal with several weather apps and lots of screwing around to get the info DS gave me easilyThis thread is gonna be full of crying.
Why as Rene Ritchie said years ago "Apple hates you" does Apple keep on trying to prove this was not just a snark remark. But this truly is the most depressing thing that Apple has done to me.Dark Sky in its heyday was an astounding demo app, with very accurate hyperlocal precipitation notifications. But its accuracy gradually declined and the app's UI was neglected.
Despite few flaws, Apple's Weather app is one of the best built-in apps on the iOS, iPadOS, and macOS, with tons of details and snazzy UI. Its precipitation notification is not up to snuff and Apple really needs to improve and open up WeatherKit to high volume use.
is your simple wish asking too much. here in the frozen tundra would love to see wind chills more easily, but we are all stuck in Apples ecosystem where they keep on making things worse and charging more! Would be wonderful if someone from Apple that could do something would read these thingsI prefer dark sky. I acknowledge the improved weather app but I want to see precipitation at same time as the temperature in the hourly view and I just like the way dark sky does it.

Can we get someone from Apple to read the comments here?
Why does Apple hate us
Do they realize that people outside of Silicon Valley have different needs for weather forecasts than they do
Yup, this is a great example. I will greatly miss dark skyView attachment 2131150View attachment 2131146This is my side by side of the two UIs. On dark sky I immediately see the weather radar. It’s off the bottom of the screen on Apple Weather. The rain chart is worse in Apple, Dark sky is labelled heavy, medium, light. Apple wastes a huge amount of screen space at the top just to make it look pretty.
I live in Cleveland, Ohio where we get lots of snow (mainly due to Lake Erie's Lake effect). I find the new weather app largely useless in winter.I’m finding it annoying to have to drill down several layers to get any kind of information on the forecast, such as wind chill and precipitation amounts.
well - that's also partially because you're not reading the % chance correctly. meteorologists have different methods of coming at that number but in essence it's the confidence it will rain/snow a measurable amount and the likelihood of any given location within the forecast area.Really sad to see this go. As nice as the UI in the new apple weather app is, it is hard to see the detail like precipitation forecasts without a lot of taps. And even then it seems horribly inaccurate, especially with snowfall. We got 20"+ of snow last week, and all I could tell from the app was that there was a 60-70% chance of snow through the middle of the week.
They didn't even provide their own weather info. So you can still get it (and it wasn't very accurate).I am going to struggle in 2023 to deal with several weather apps and lots of screwing around to get the info DS gave me easily
Yes spelled $hitty Ad Bloated wrong.
Dark Sky, the weather app that Apple purchased in March 2020, is set to shut down on January 1, 2023. Ahead of the planned sunsetting of the app, Apple is reminding users of the closure and has also published a support document highlighting the Dark Sky features that have been integrated into the Weather app to encourage Dark Sky users to transition to the built-in options.

The Dark Sky app functionality was added to the Weather app in iOS 16, iPadOS 16, and macOS Ventura. Apple has introduced down-to-the minute precipitation forecasts for snow and rain, an hourly forecast for the next 10 days, and weather modules that provide expanded information on humidity, precipitation levels, visibility, wind speed, and more.
There are high-resolution weather maps available, according to Apple, as well as hyperlocal weather forecasts. Apple has been warning of the upcoming Dark Sky shutdown for several months, but information is ramping up now that there are less than two weeks to go before app support ends.

If you don’t mind, send Apple some feedback about that. I’ve never used Dark Sky so I can’t compare ios Weather to it, but those of you that believe they fell short in integrating it will be appreciated for dropping them a line.I’m finding it annoying to have to drill down several layers to get any kind of information on the forecast, such as wind chill and precipitation amounts.
Are you actually seeing news? My impression is that it doesn't show up unless there's some major weather thing going on. I haven't seen any news yet in Apple's Weather app.How in the heck do you get rid of the news feed in the weather app?
