since their original rumor turn out to be false then they decide to make another rumor to excuse the other rumor of being false and keeping their record of rumors up...

stay classy digitimes... ;)

I (along with many other people) have been saying all year that the iPad 2 would be the only iPad release of 2011. So for all you non-believers, I have this: Ha-ha.

I am not disappointed anymore. I eventually lost interest in the iPad because of its lack of required capabilities. Apple seems to have crippled this product so that it can't replace a laptop. Then I saw an ad for an alternative that met the requirements, cost less, and had a more accessible operating system. I was almost about to buy an iPad 2, but if it doesn't work, it doesn't work. The answer is not to go out and buy a new Apple laptop to make up for the lost functionality. The answer is to look for a product that does work, and that was the end of my interest in the premium priced iPad. It sure looked cool, but it's simply not good enough. Maybe the iPad 3 will change that, but that could be another year away.

Well at least whatever copycat brand you decided on there was plenty in stock.

I just can't figure out how something that was never planned is delayed.

This could have been used as a ploy by Apple's competitors so that potential buyers will wait for the iPad 3 to be released, and delay their purchase of the iPad2 thus dampening sales?

Can we PLEASE go back to talking about the Apple Television set rumors now!?

HAHHAHA Hilarious :)

...Digitimes must have the worst track record. Up until a few days before the iPad 2 launch they were saying it would have a retina display.

You know what they say, Throw enough ***** at a wall and eventually it will stick.

Either that or they use this method...

Blah, blah...better than iPad...blah, blah...iPad premium priced...blah, blah...more functional than IOS..blah, blah. Yeah, we've heard it all before. Every other tablet on the market is better than the iPad. That's what all of the competitions' commercials are saying, too. I suppose the 14 people who've bought the competition think so, also...

Yawn.

HAHAHAHA Gold! :)

326ppi on iPad display??

Does anyone else think it is crazy and unnecessary for the same pixel density as the iPhone 4 to be utilized with the iPad?? Certainly I agree the pixels should be smaller, but not as small as the iPhone 4... We don't hold the iPad as close...

Won't this just limit the graphics capabilities of the iPad (even with a faster processor) by increasing the amount of pixels by 4? I say they should just double the pixel density.

I don't post here often but I was surprised to see this not brought up in this conversation yet.

Thoughts?

Lack of Rumors

I really wish MR wouldn't post ever garbage rumor they hear...Thanks for all the "iPad 3 will be here in late 2012?"

Anything to get our views I suppose

There are a complete lack of rumors. Since this is a rumor site I tend to believe very few of them. There are certain times when Apple has had hardware or software launches & they schedule a press conference on that day, then is when I may start believing.

Apple has their schedules for releasing their computers & iToys. The iToys were on a yearly schedule lately. But the iPhone is the first break from that. The way Apple has of not letting new equipment run on old OS versions, it appears that they have stuff in the new iPhone (5) that will require the new OS. Or they don't want to release a new product only to have it not look so good with the old OS. The Sep Oct time frame is more believable currently. But when we are not able to have a new iPhone &/or iPod for for Christmas then don't say you heard it here.

Even though we were promised faster cpu changes with Intel things have actually slowed down. The Mac Pro is nearing its average ne model shipping time. So will we see a new model now or when the new cpu comes out late this year or the 1st quarter of next year. I tend to go with the the later time. My 1st gen Intel Mac Pro was not replaced with a new model for at least 18 months. That is another reason that I do not expect them very early.

If new cpus are available for the MacBook Pros & the iMac & 8-10 minimum has passed then the rumors of new models will have more of a belief factor.
I'm sure that they would like to have new models for Christmas but then again Apple does not like to make anymore models than they have to.

With Apple I usually believe the later date rumors. Then if they come in early I can have a smile on my face & decide whether this will be my new Mac or iToy. As they say, "under promise & over deliver."

Exactly. Steve loves messing with peoples minds.

Dudes and dudettes,

Please bite the bullet and simply increase the battery capacity and thickness to simplify solving the other engineering issues while increasing overall battery life, which is very beneficial for a lifestyle media device. Use the time to add Thunderbolt, LTE which can be enabled later if necessary, and of course a larger supply on release.

Just Rocketman

As far as Thunderbolt goes we have a very interesting item here. As it is an Intel patent designed for their chip sets to give a direct connection to the PCIe buss. As Apple does not use Intel chips in their iToys & none of the iToys are carrying a PCIe buss there may be a problem to do something like this. We need a cpu design engineer that knows both the ThunderBolt layout & the layout of the iPad to see if even such a thing can be done & if there is anything inside the iToys to allow such a thing. Then there would have to be a new name.

Why was this rumors even started? Why would Apple release two new versions of the iPad in the SAME year? Doesn't make sense to me.

I agree that it would be premature now but by the time iPad 3 comes out maybe the A7 processor will be up to the task of rendering graphics at four times the resolution. It is also worth noting that iOS 5 will let us mirror iPad content to 1080p televisions through the Apple TV so all that rendering power would actually be needed for smooth frame-rates.

Actually, none of these rumors seems to have much affect on Apple's stock price. Remember, the vast majority of Apple shares are controlled by institutional investors, mutual funds, and automated trading programs. There are relatively few retail AAPL investors. Lil' ol' Aunt Bessie and her investing club in Salina, Kansas aren't the ones moving AAPL shares.

It mostly appears to be a pageview slutfest by the various folks who propagate these inane rumors, attempting to eke out a few extra CPMs. You can put lipstick on a pig, but in the end...

Quite distasteful, really. But that's the way it is these days.

Journalism died in the Nineties and now we have this red light district of blathering tarts who try to outdo each other with the most ludicrous declarations.

So uncivilized.
