He had the dumbest logic on this. He says he's surprised anyone thinks Apple would be upset about this because it's helping iPhone users by making the experience better when you text Android users. Uh...hello? If Apple actually cared about that they would've released iMessage for Android themselves, not waited until some third party client hacked their ANS to add the functionality lmaooo.

The CEO was almost doing a press evangelism tour about how Apple wouldn't be able to touch his solution and wasn't morally justified in doing so. he poked the bear then twisted its arm.

I don't get the people that celebrate this. I want to be able to communicate with all users securely and welcome solutions to do this. It is a better experience for me (and other Apple users) if adding an Android number into a group chat doesn't wreak havoc. Of course, it needs to be vetted and proven secure, but I wish Apple would get around to making this possible as we now see it if technically possible and leads to a better user experience for all users.

For all those celebrating retaining the exclusive blue bubble crap and saying people should just buy Apple products, you aren't being very open-minded or realistic. If Apple did shut this down on purpose, I imagine it is just going to raise some regulatory flags. The momentum seems to be shifting on how long iMessage or messaging from Apple devices can remain a walled garden. Beeper Mini technically proved it possible, and combined with the RCS announcement, it seems like Apple is swimming against the current if they continue to fight this.

To be clear, does Apple have the right to shut this down?... Absolutely.

Is it a bad look for a company that prizes user security, data privacy, teens' mental health, and the best user experience? ....Absolutely.

This comes down to money, which will likely catch the attention of various regulatory bodies.

The ones celebrating are the same smooth brains who whined and complained when apple announced they are implementing RCS. They think they are superior by having an iPhone and the little blue bubbles.
Don't know about superior, however we know good value for money when we see it, we simply can't afford cheap 😊

Apple simply blocked an illegal connection to it's servers.
As far as being better for users, which users? I don't need Android users to have access to my iMessage, I have what's App for that and I'm happy for them to stay there, that way I know whose who 😊

This shouldn't be a surprise to anybody.

If you want iPhone features, buy an iPhone. I'll never understand this android obsession with wanting iMessage or blue bubbles. It's like the guy who puts a BMW emblem on his old Honda.
For the love of G-d, stop with the "all Android users want blue bubbles". Over and over again this is the standard reply from all you people.

It isn't about blue bubbles, which, oddly enough, only iOS users bring into the discussion 100% of the time. It's about easily being able to share high quality media with each other.

I frankly don't care one wy or the other, interesting though that it took Apple only(?) 3 days ...

That’s a shame. I don’t have an android, but it would be nice for them to have the option. Apple should just release an iMessage app.

I suspect they have one ready to go, though.

The developers of this app were covered legally due to laws around reverse engineering for inter operability purposes, I believe.

There's RCS now for that coming soon.
