Always most expensive models in stock.

Anywhere I've checked, there's always 64GB wifi and 64GB wifi+3G in stock. It seems that 16GB models are never stocked, and stores never know when they're coming in..

First Gen Owners Want To Buy Second Gen Too

Can't wait for the second gen iPad's to hit the market. :D
As a first gen 64GB +3G owner since May 5th, I can't wait for second gen either. I plan on buying every new top of the line iPad that Apple offers. I'm sure I'm not alone among many first gen buyers. :)

Most likely because more people buy the cheaper models. That, or Apple make more of the expensive ones, in hope that when the cheaper ones aren't in, people will just go for the pricier option.

I love my ipad so much that it has kept me on ice without the new iPhone4. While not getting on the pre ordering list at first, then the whole antenna issue, Im now waiting patiently for the white ip4.

If it wasn't for the ipad, I think I would be going crazy right now without a new iPhone.

Believe the hype fellow mates, the ipad is awesome!

I honestly think Apple produces more of the expensive models. I don't blame them, at the end of the day they are a business making a profit.

Several stores in my area on launch day had an inventory list. Example of one: 16GB - 5, 32GB - 10, 64GB - 40.

...because even the most clueless person knows that the 64GB model is WAYYYYY overpriced...it's pure money for storage...no extra bells or whistles....$700 or $829 is nuts. The iPads should have shipped with 64GB or more from the beginning at the base price...nobody here can tell me that Apple couldn't have ecomonically fit a ton of storage is this device that is 4x the physical size of a 64GB iPod Touch or iPhone.

Mexico

Strange.
In Mexico it appeared in the Apple Store from the day it was presented. And a few weeks back it just disappeared.

I have my doubts it will be released in Mexico by the end of July. ...and I can just guess the exorbitant prices of data packages. :(

Very good.

I love my iPad, now that it no longer drops my wireless connection at home. The 3g connection is very handy when traveling. I have seen about 3 or 4 iPads on the subways/metro north train in the New York city area.

While using it in a restaurant I had 4 staff members looking over my shoulder. While using it on the plain, a stewardess asked how it was to type on, and then declared that she was going to buy one even though she just bought a netbook.

I think the more they are seen, the more they will be bought. And whether you "see" them or not, they are clearly being sold, and it may simply be that people are using them at home or in the car, and are not comfortable displaying them in public.

I was super pleased to see them giving away the uzu app this fourth of july weekend. That is going to be a huge hit with my nieces and nephews.

It seems like the iPad in the US has lost some steam. No one is talking about it anymore (especially after the iP4 release).

The iPhone has forged ahead of the iPad, with it having iOS 4, dual cameras, an incredible display, and more RAM. Not to mention the fact that tech geeks are always fixated on the latest thing, so that hurts the iPad as well (next gadget on the clock - the iPod Touch). I'm still of the opinion that the iPad will ultimately be more of a niche product than a ubiquitous one like the iPhone or MacBook, but we will see.

After having the iPhone 4 since launch, and seeing the iPad again, it looks OUTDATED.

The resolution/screen pale in comparison to the iPhone 4. Anyone who purchases an iPad from this point on is a moron.

Wait for the 2nd gen AT LEAST, and hope the resolution/screen is similar to the iPhone 4!

This production ramp will surely just exacerbate Apples long, slow, and sad decline in quality. Just a few years ago (around the time of the Titanium Powerbook G4, for example) an Apple product was almost guaranteed to last a lifetime with no faults whatsoever. Now, despite all their fame, technical innovation, and marketing success, we have products like the iPad which are just so glitchy and fragile.

I once read that Steve Jobs personally tests every Apple product before it ships. That was when Apple were shipping a few million Macs a year, and I'm sure even that workload kept him very busy. Now, with 2M iPads alone, per month(!), I just can't see how it is possible.

Overheard in local Starbucks in Derbyshire, UK ....

B.Gates: Steve ... how well is Intel doing with sales of its micro processors?

S. Jobs: Well Bill, theyre doing so well theyre thinking of moving into smaller premises!

Boom boom!!!

Meantime ... stop increasing production of the Kings Clothes' device (the iPad) and get yer arses in gear and ramp up the blimmin' iPhone .. I canny wait another three weeks y'know! :)

"Well wait as long as you feel you can ..." S.Jobs

despite Wi-Fi only models having stronger sales in the first half of 2010, Kuo noted.

Um...yeah...

The wi-fi model was the only game in town for the first few weeks. And according to the genius at my apple store, it seems to continue to have the quickest delivery time on units reserved at the apple store for pick-up. So there shouldn't be a surprise that the wi-fi units sold more during the initial 2 months of the products life.

I Don't Think The 64GB Models Are Overpriced

Not overpriced to me - and to most everyone since they are selling like hotcakes. These prices are fine. And all future models with even mode power, memory and features will be priced the same. I have almost nothing on mine and it's using 19GB of RAM. So I know the 16GB model is useless while the 32GB model is compromised. Only the 64GB model has enough RAM to get me to the next release without having to think about what I will need to delete to put something new on it. I happily paid $829 for it. Am I nuts or do I perceive value in the top of the line model like so many others that only you and a few other carpers do not?

Nothing wrong with the opinion that 64GB is not overpriced, but I don't think you can say the 16GB model is useless. Also, just an fyi, its not RAM, but flash (NAND?) storage.

What I do think is way overpriced though is the $130 markup for the inclusion of a $20 cellular radio module.

i live in south africa, ipad or iphone 4 not available here yet, a friend got an ipad 16g wifi from the US....... i was at first very skeptical about the ipad's place in this over "gadgeted" world..... after handling it, reading some book excerpts, checking pix, easy of typing emails on a larger screen, i realise how great this "toy" actually is........... my friend uses the ipad and his reliable iphone 3gs to do all his business stuff whilst abroad!

i personally do not consider purchasing an ipad or iphone 4 but...... the ipad just works! meanwhile my ipod touch and canon camera stuff are fine for traveling abroad...........

and the ipad....... you can't hold it wrong!

well done apple......... now, about iphone 4 & 5...................

It's just not intended for the same use at all... Why compare them? Deeper apps, different use, a larger screen, that kind of thing matters.

If you want the screen density to be similar (the resolution of the iPad is already superior to the iPhone 4 at 1024x768), you got to realize it will need a graphics processor at least 4x faster to move so much more pixels. And the processing capability of the iPad is already faster than the iPhone.
There isn't probably such a thing in sight for the short term. Even laptops can't easily drive a 2048x1534 display.

For me the lack of camera is even a bigger omission with the release of iP4 and Facetime. Also with iOS 4.x not due for it until November, might as well wait for v2.

I have an iP4 and I am yet to have a need for the front camera. The front camera is one of those things where everyone else has one, so we need to add one. But I still say its a gimmick thing...

I always skip a gen, so I will be getting a 3rd gen. My 1st gen iPad does everything I need it to do....

Availability in Denmark

Dang, I had really expected that Denmark would be among the next round of countries to get the iPad. The iPhone 4 is becoming available here in the next iPhone 4 round, by the end of July.

Does anyone have a more qualified guess than mine, as to when the iPad hits the next round of countries (almost guaranteed including Denmark)?

They will release iPad Photo in 2011
Then, the iPad Video in 2012
And finally, the iPad FaceTime in 2013

...

Heck with that!

To heck with pushing ipad production, push iPhone4 production! There's serious shortfalls in iphone4's.

I own both, and use both. The iPhone 4 hasn't taken over for much that the iPad can do, except when i dont have the iPad around. Different use cases. For example, it doesn't matter how dense the pixels are on the 3.5" iPhone, the 9.7" iPad is still more comfortable for web browsing... And faster typing.

The only thing that really looks dated about the iPad is that it lacks folders and the multitasking of iOS 4.

I'm right there with you. My recent iPad purchase is really easing my itch for the iPhone 4. My early upgrade isn't until the end of February so I might just hold off until the 5th Generation iPhone. It seems a little silly upgrading in March and then new version will be out in June.

Hopefully, the iPad and iPhone line will converge in June 2011 so we can see iPhone 5th gen and iPad 2nd gen. Crossing fingers but I wouldn't hold my breath. I'm sure Apple will space the product releases out so as to get people to buy both.

Hello......I'll buy both anyway. Haha.
