Any one else getting this when trying to edit a post just done here?

Edit: Seems to work now again. I just got it 5 times in a row.

If one can’t update via their phone then this update is worthless to most. Apple removed many of the features that one could do via iTunes in the past when the phone was connected.
What gave you the impression that he couldn’t update the phone?

Isn’t all of that basically in Finder now? I honestly don’t know what’s different than the last version of 17.6.1, I just like to have the latest software…

Yes it's all just in the Finder now. Don't know what I am not able to do anymore what already some iTunes version got rid off before.

No second update for iOS 16.7.10 until now.

P.S.: It's downloading almost 7GB for just a build number update. 🙃

Doesn't work. Could be a 15.1 bug. The download is always just interrupting without any error message.

And OTA says it's up to date. Strange...

My Mac said that update is a fix for something about Fitness+ or so.

Too much hassle, I'll wait for OTA 17.6.2 or iOS 18. I guess only 10-20% will update their iPhones using the finder.

I did this just for demonstration now. Couldn't care less about such an update. If it was able to, that iPad already had 18 on it.

All okay here using Finder, which is the way I like to update anyway, somehow and maybe that's just my imagination but it feels less buggy than OTA updates, same goes with macOS boot into recovery and download the latest update as it also updates the recovery partition as far as I remember. This is how it used to be done years back and I still like doing it this way. Don't forget to nip into storage and delete the iPhone and iPad 8Gb uploads 8.12 and 8.17Gb on latest M4 iPad for me, to get space back.

Could also be my VPN disconnected for a second while downloading and the update downloader doesn't like that. That's happening sometimes when downloading larger files but mostly the download just continues automatically.

I normally don't update iOS via Mac but I also use rather a full installer for macOS updates. There isn't any for 15.1 yet what is really bad because the Recovery Partition doesn't allow a re-install of 15.1 over an existing installation, with the message it's a downgrade.

Geeeezzzz second time they’ve had the advanced data protection bug in a row now!

How is this update so big for one small bug fix? It's round 850 MB for me updating from the old 17.6.1 to the new 17.6.1. Didn't they implement incremental updates?

My situation: iPhone 15 pro iOS 17.6.1 build 21G93. Windows 11 Pro with either itunes and Apple devices (latest version from Microsoft Store.
No one of the two apps can detect the iphone attached via the original cable to the WORKING usb-c port with 10gbps and charging capability of my pc.
OTA does not show up the 21G101 build.
How can i set up fot the 101 build? do i have to DFU then start from scratch, or may i simply update via pc (if it sees my phone?)

Help needed, all hints are welcome.

You might just want to skip the update. This rerelease only fixes a problem with the Fitness+ app according to the release notes.

Ah ok so the build 101 is nearly useless.... the watchos tells me to update.... will go ?

The Apple TV updated without problems via OTA, but the iPhone 15 only updated via Finder because the update did not appear via OTA.

Says my phone is up to date but doesn't have this release with different build number that came out yesterday. How does it know a new version if version number is the same? This is over the air with iPhone an iPad

So this update does *not* appear over the air, but curiously with a usb-c (thunderbolt) wire connected to my mac, the mac updates it just fine. Not sure why OTA isn't working.........

No over the air update for me for this re-release. However, when I plug in my phone and iPad to my computer and sync, it indicates there is an update and ask if I want to update. I clicked YES. Let's see what happens ;-)

(Really looking forward to iOS/iPadOS 18 general release! )
