Yep I needed this one, Safari would quit on my banks website, now I can pay those bills.

Updated.

After reboot, my MacBook (2.16 C2D) hung on grey screen for ~5 minutes.
I finally unplugged a 4 GB nano (the only thing connected to the 'Book, save power supply) and the darker grey Apple logo instantly popped up in the center of the screen, followed by the Login screen.

Nothing seems snapier and my iPhone update (cough - Disk Mode - cough) still isn't here. :p

--edit--

I just realized other user experienced the same prolonged grey screen that I described. And I think they were also running MacBooks.
Did any of you "grey screeners" have any peripherals connected?

Installed fine. I would be happier about Safari and all if I hadn't of just tried out the new Firefox 3 (beta 2). Flash actually runs smooth with it! It's incredible.

This update also hung my computer (I left it at the blue screen for about a half hour before heading for the on/off button). I had a USB mouse connected, but I disconnected it about 15 minutes into the hang.

I did a safe boot, only logon process was itunes helper, unchecked that.

Everything seems fine on restart, the update shows as installed.

My Mac Pro (running Leopard) would not boot up after installing this update. Would just sit on the :apple: logo. Had to do a hard reset 3 times before it finally got unstuck.

I still can't browse around on IMDB.com. This happened after the first update, and is still a problem after the second one...

After this installation, core image related items are MUCH smoother than before. I'm not sure what is going on, but now when I minimize windows, its like I'm running tiger again (very very smooth). Hopefully they stay that way!

Yeah! They've smoothed out on my 3Ghz Quad Mac Pro too, they were not smooth at all at 10.5.0 or 10.5.1.
Thanks Apple :D

The second security release hung my G4 iMac 17" flat panel running Leopard for over 30 minutes. Power switch off to the rescue - restarted w/o issues that I know of. This is the first problem I have had with an update in a long time.

I'm glad they fixed this. I actually had to use Firefox once, because Safari crashed every time when I tried to download a Canon scanner driver. Oh well, let's hope this restart fixes it.

Updated both my iMac 1.83 Core Duo (Running Tiger 10.4.11) and my 2.2 SR Core 2 Duo Macbook (running Leopard 10.5.1) just fine. The iMac only took slightly longer to display the Apple on the load screen, but not much longer than past experiences with updates. The Macbook loaded almost instantly (like normal).

Any update that makes Safari crash less is fine by me!

I've read this thread carefully, and I couldn't find the answer -- what is the difference between the two version of the security update? My rarely-used Safari accesses IMDB.com just fine as it is.

The first one just didn't address the issues as well as Apple hoped...the second hopefully perfected it :)

This update sucks. After reboot I kept getting the setup assistant, now when I do get into Leopard on both my Imac and macbook it's giving my the spinning ball all over the place.

Ran update on both tiger 10.4.11 and Leopard 10.5.1 with no problems on an original iMac Intel Core Duo.

Not sure why others have issues, but I always repair permissions before and after any updates. Been doing that for almost 2 years now and never experienced a problem. Yeah I know many say permissions don't mean squat. BUT, all I know is that my experience in doing so has been very positive.

There's also many variables involved, like hacks, poorly written programs, memory issues, hard drive issues etc..........

I just know from my personal experience Apple updates for me have been smooth and just work for the last 2 years!

Only thing I wish for is for Apple to fix the permissions speed issue in Leopard. In Tiger it flies, in Leopard it just sits there for about 10 minutes before slowwwww progress begins. Total time in Leopard to run permissions for me is about 18 minutes and in Tiger about 2 minutes if that.

Yes...with an Ipod Nano 3G plugged in the Apple dock to USB port. The Apple logo only appears and the computer boots once I unplug the Nano.
I have a Mini CD. But that thing occur for a while and in Tiger way before I installed Leopard. Nothing to do with this last update.

Doh! Okay, the menus are back to being a little choppy. Great. For some reason, they were silky smooth when I was running SixtyForce (N64 emulator). How much sense does that make? Oh well.

From reading some other posts whee ppl reported similar problems booting up after the update, it seems that the reason in my case was that I had a video camera hooked up to my mac via FW. That the OS can't deal with this after an update is plain lame
