If they keep 4" they would capture basically everyone who wants that size. The question is not if there are people who want 4", it's is the amount of people worth the attention and the added costs? Only Apple can answer that. And I think almost everyone will get used to 4.7" soon after using them. So the need for a 4" is probably a bit overstated. Most people will probably adapt, and people who absolutely need 4" will be ignored, but that's what happens when you're in the minority.

They may just keep the 4" around for the low end as a tradeoff people need to make if they need to have that. The same way they kept around the iPod classic for so long. They didn't make any improvements, and charged a lot for what it was, but the few people who had to have it bought it anyway.

I think a 4.5" would have been sufficient. The 4.7" is just slightly too big for one handed use 100% of the time. Apple is eventually going to have to do something about the size of the bezels.

Why would you limit the storage on the classic to 64gb. Many of us need the storage for music etc but don't want the size of the 6+

Also 4" screen is a thing if the past once you get used to the 4.7 you'll love it

Apple nowdays is a company that follows market and profit. There will be actually more and more people who will try iPhone 6 and realize 4.7 inch is too big for comfortable one hand use. My bet is that we will see it together with iPhone 6s

Well when are the next quarter numbers announcement? While they won't break down the 5c/5s numbers, hopefully there will be some indication on sales of them.

I think if they continue to make 4" devices, it'll be "one step" below the bigger devices, much like how the 5S is today (and how the MBP 13" is compared to the 15" and 17" versions). What I'm curious to see is what they do next year. If they make an iPhone 6C, it wouldn't surprise me if that ends up being essentially a 4" iPhone 6.

I'm under 5 feet so you can imagine my hand size. If I got the 6 I'd need Reachability constantly and that should not be a requirement on a regular non-phablet phone. I have to contort at the risk of dropping to reach the far left of the keyboard (even so still hit W half the time instead of Q). But it's just small enough I'd *want* to use it one-handed like the 5. Recipe for frustration.

So I'm also hoping Apple comes out with a 6 mini that's comparable to the standard sizes (and not hobbled with just 16GB, that'd be an instant dealbreaker worse than not releasing anything at all). Happy my 5 runs well for now but really wish I'd been on the "s" release cycle. :(
