Apple needs a proper OLED mini. They've been slacking off. I'm like give people what they want.
How about some focus on Macs?
What are they going to do with Macs? Add new ports? NO. did they have some new battery tech that is ready for prime time? I'm honestly not sure what they could do with macs that they already aren't doing but maybe I'm limiting my imagination. If anything I'd like to see them drop the price $200 bucks and watch those things fly off the shelf.

If Apple is “finally” going to release a new Mini 5, make it a Pro level iPad, not a budget version! I have 2 Mini 4s already but I would be intrigued into buy a Mini 5 Pro.

I love the Mini form factor. I agonized so long over 12.9 vs. 11" iPad Pro. If I'd known exactly what the Mini 5 was going to be like I might have gone 12.9 + Mini but I ended up deciding on the 11" because the 12.9 was no good for lazy couch and bed use or for carrying around daily in a purse. But now that I have the 11" I'll probably pass on the Mini for now. If it is amazing (laminated screen, etc.), I could see selling my 11" down the line and getting a 12.9 to accompany the mini.. 12.9 for purely desk work (taking notes, writing, etc.) and mini for everything else.

Count me in for a new mini, largest capacity in black, my old mini 2 was working well after IOS 12 but since the last couple of updates it back to being a slow crash festival.
My pro is fine but its a pain to hold, mini is perfect.

… and too expensive for most users' needs.
Yep. My iPad is purely a consumption device. I have no intention of using it for much more than that. I am not paying $799 to do that, and the $329 iPad makes compromises compared to my Air 2. I wish they would use the Air 2 build for the $329 iPad and I would get one.

I don't understand the point of wanting a mini. I just find the 10.5 version of iPad Pro is just what you need, thin and light, yet powerful display technology with 120Hz screen included.

The iPad mini is just the right size for many, many people and vertical markets where a 9.7" iPad or larger is too large and/or too heavy. Restaurants, aviation, specialized in-house monitoring tools where people are on the go, smaller children for whom a larger iPad is too much for them to hold or too expensive...the list may be more varied and specialized than the average iPad user, but there are plenty of people who would benefit from a new iPad mini. What works for you, does not necessarily work for others...viva la difference!

I would expect that Apple will stick with the original iPad Air chassis for and further iPads simply to keep costs down since the non-laminated display assembly is cheaper and easier to repair. Regardless, it would be great if Apple moved to the iPad Air 2 chassis for the 7th Generation iPad. I guess we will see.

It would not surprise me if the new iPad mini falls back to the iPad mini 2/3 chassis to reduce costs, but we will have to wait until an announcement to know for sure.

Watch them put an A10 in the mini and call it a day.

Also, introducing yet another iPad size (10 inches) is stupid. Make it 9.7 or 10.5.

Unfortunately definitely gonna be 2 year old specs in an ugly bezel package.

Apple thinks small devices should be old and outdated.

Very irritating.

Does anyone know the typical length of time it takes for a product to be introduced after it showed up in these kinds of documents?

Apple has a line of products in development like any other manufacturer! It really up to Apple to release it to the public. I think a 3-5 month time frame reasonable.

I am excited that there may actually be a Mini 5, given how neglected that line has been. However my Mini 4 is still going strong and doing everything I need quite well; so I don't see myself actually updating it for a while yet.

Not sure based on the documentation, but a late-March-ish timeframe (same as last year) doesn't seem an unreasonable bet.

Ive been dying for a mini 5 for years , but with my 2017 MacBook 12, and iPhone 8, I'm unsure if id still want one, id def skip if they went the cheaper route and just did a cpu refresh and crappier screen. If it got the iPad Pro design with faceID id consider.
