I’m going to guess it will still have a butterfly keyboard.

I doubt they will have redesigned the keyboard by now.

I sure hope they've fixed the keyboard. They have a solution for the issue now so hopefully they were smart enough to put a fix in place for the new ones.

I'm waiting on a new Macbook and given the rumours of the keyboard issues, I'll held off.

No, they have had a redesigned keyboard for over a year now.
They didn’t choose to redesign if because of the durability issues, it was because of the divisive characteristics (loud, lack of tactility) among other things. However it should be more durable.
It’s such a shame that everyone will think Apple rushed to make this new keyboard because of the durability issues and lawsuits. I can already see that being the headlines on every article about it. Although there will be other talking points.
It’s quite likely that we may see it in the new Magic keyboards if they’re released this year as well, I’m hoping that they’ll offer a space gray Magic Keyboard (without numeric keypad).

I’m still surprised that, 3 years after debut, Apple isn’t able to sell the MacBook at $999.

It's possible that they do a silent update via a press release this month for the Mac's especially if they are just spec updates and no new designs to announce. They have done it in the past, on some random Tuesday they have updated Mac's via press release.

The iPad Pro will probably be announced in September alongside new iPhone's and new Apple Watch.

They did a huge press release in 2010 (if I remember rightly) for new MacBook Pros. I could see them doing the same thing again with various Mac models.

Most of them only need speed bumps and maybe some I/O updates. After all, Mac mini fans aren’t desperate for a change in form factor, just a modern machine, right?

Thin and light are exactly what MBP customers want. And not just Apple’s customers, all the other laptop manufacturers offer a similar form factor.
Speak for yourself about thin and light. It's no anomaly that so many people are griping about the current MBP line. And other manufacturers have managed to create fairly thin and light products without removing most ports and raising the prices.

Probably because the Mac is no longer the primary means by which people enter the Apple ecosystem.

That had already changed with the introduction of the original iPod... The iPhone and later the iPad only put additional nails into that coffin. Meanwhile, the Mac has slowly transformed from their main business to a step child, then to an afterthought and now we have finally reached the point where Macs only exist to write software for the gadgets that have become their real business. Once iOS becomes completely self-hosted (or once they will release a "developer edition" of iOS that can run Xcode), macOS and the hardware for it will cease to exist. Everything points into that direction.

Might be a mix of iMacs and MBPs. Mojave’s emphasis on power user QoL touches makes me think that they’ll make a point of targeting the “promsumer & professional” market with this refresh...which, as the iMac Pro is still in its first cycle, suggests iMacs and MBPs. Curious to see what they’ll do on the graphics front this year.

From what i've read Apple's goal was for the MacBook to replace the Air eventually BUT the price has remained high because of components and a few different factors. Maybe they will announce the 13" version at a higher price but bring down the price of the 12" to around $999? not sure how they will play it.

Yes they have done it a few times, they tend to do press realises when they have spec updates as it doesn't require an event. Last year they announced the spec updates at WWDC because they were ready for around that time but they didn't spend much time on them at all, with it being a spec update i don't expect them to anyway. So i do think that this month (ie July) is very possible for a spec update to the MacBook Pro and MacBook.

The last time they held an October event was for the 2016 redesign of the MacBook Pro which they tend to do with redesigned Mac's. The only reason they might hold an October event this year is for the iPad Pro IF they don't want to announce at a September event but i don't see that happening, i think we will see iPhone's, Apple Watch and iPad Pro's at a September event, if that is the case then why would they hold an October event just for spec updates? they wouldn't, my guess is we will get Mac updates this month or next month.

Couldn't care less about laptops. New desktops PLEASE!!! By that I mean Mac Pro.

Mac Pro is a 2019 thing, Apple confirmed this themselves.

If no powerful Mac desktops are to be seen, not interested. I don't need or want an underpowered overpriced laptop without ports... My rMBP 15" (late 2013) is so far the best portable Mac product they've released for my needs. My clients have MB 12" (2016) and MBP 13" (2017) models, and boy have they regretted replacing their MB airs with them.

Is Apple doing all their Mac profits from dongles these days? Tim Cook must be so excited about a product category with above 90% profit rate.

And Apple better give us iPad Mini 5 (or rebranded iPad SE) or iPad Pro mini... otherwise there will be one iPad user less in our household.

Apple GPMs are around 38%.

FIVE new iPad models?! Thats a lot. Could one of them perhaps be an updated ipad mini? Hmm. A new cellular & a new wifi bezel-less 10.5” ipad pro with face ID, a new cellular & a new wifi bezel-less 12.9” ipad pro with face ID, and an updated ipad mini with pencil support. Thats five. Oh wait, shouldn’t it be SIX? A wifi & cellular ipad mini? Argh! Okay, scratch my theory.

Would not be the first time Apple launched a new product on an old OS even though an update was due. Didn't the Retina MacBook launch with a "special" build of Lion (maybe it was ML, I forget) but remember Phil Shiller specifically calling it out during the product reveal.

Come on Apple, you can do this.

This would show they are concerned for their users if they launch new macs with MacOS High Sierra.

High Sierra is the last OS that will handle 32-bit software and drivers. Those who still use older 32-bit programs will have one more refreshed system before their programs will not work (though Apple has given plenty of time for all to make the switch to 64-bit).

I for one would appreciate it, for I am interested in a new MacBook Pro and would be grateful to still use some external audio hardware that drivers use a combo driver of 32-bit/64-bit. Legacy equipment from Alesis (like the MasterControl) that will not see an update.

Audio manufacturers are slow to produce newer equipment to hand the more modern technologies (like USB-C), so pros will still need to use what they currently have.

Also, If they launch new macs soon, it will give those who buy now time with a stable OS, though MacOS Mojave May be a somewhat stable OS upon the first release in October’s it may look like so far...

Please, please, please listen to your customers. We don’t need vanity metrics like thinner and beautiful product hero shots which only please your design team and frustrate your customers.
Some people do want vanity metrics, and they can buy a MacBook. For us other users they should make a truly professional MacBook Pro that does not care about such superficial things and is a real power house again.

Asking Apple to not care about design is like asking Facebook to not care about collecting your data. Not going to happen.

Let’s see some iMacs and the Mac Mini please.

While it is great to read a potential Mac refresh, if they make an iPad Mini Pro, I’ll trade my 12.9” for that. BTW all the issues and the expense of that 12.9 iPP, not spending that much $ on an iDevice again.

Perhaps the most curious details in the EEC filing are the OS references, with macOS 10.13 [...]. It's conceivable Apple could refresh its Mac line before macOS Mojave is ready [...]
I have had exactly that very same idea in my mind this last week: If new MacBooks are released at the "back to school" event, would I want to buy one running the first release of 10.14? These years I usually wait until summer before updating MacOS, so that I get the same rock-solid quality that I was used to in the past. If the filings say 10.13, that's very good, for two reasons: First, release of new Macs would be imminent (September at the latest). Second, it's going to be possible to hold updating to Mojave until they polish it.

But, said that, it's still unclear if Apple is going to be able to beat the display/weight ratio that LG is offering with the 15inch Gram, and Acer with the Swift 5 (15.6inch at 1kg, which has no Apple equivalent in this moment: The MacBook is 12inch at 1kg, the MBA is 13.3inch at 1.3kg, and the MBP is 15inch at 1.8kg).

For replacing my 13.3inch MBA, I want a better display/weight ratio: I want both a bigger display, and a lighter weight. If Apple cannot achieve it, it will be the first time that Acer and LG beat Apple in the design area.

I really don't understand the "cheap MBA" fever. I don't want cheap. I want big screen, low weight. Price doesn't matter, because I'll make it last.
