Hahaha. Poor little Apple doesn’t get to decide what is legal over a whole continent. Really sad.How anyone can reasonably take the view of Epic, or the EU's ridiculous desire for control, in this case is mind-blowing.

You mean ULTA, Sephora is inside Kohls stores.Sephora does.
But more on point, you _can_ set up a stall right next to Target and still capture the target customers.
They have a choice and it's called Android. No one is forced to purchase an iPhone or iPadThat is completely irrelevant.
Consumers deserve to have a choice and plenty of options to pick from.
You just wait until companies kill their apps on Apple Store and move to Alternative Stores in order to save 30% and offer their services at decreased prices and almost no BS from Apple.
You are probably right that vast majority will stay where they are because apple users are mostly simple people and not tech savy.
But users who want cheaper prices for things they spend money on monthly basis will probably be glad there is such an option.
I know il be the first person to move and encourage my coworkers to start developing on Epic or any other store that comes out for the EU market.
How is an alternate App Store setting up shop in Apple’s App Store? It’s a completely different store. Last time I checked I can buy whatever I want in a web browser without needing Apple’s approval, having to use Apple’s payment system or having to give a cut of the transaction to Apple. Why can't I just walk into Target, setup a booth and sell some stuff?
Wow, I’ve never seen somebody misspell “Apple” so differently, twice in the same sentence. How anyone can reasonably take the view of Epic, or the EU's ridiculous desire for control, in this case is mind-blowing.
This is IN the courts (in the EU anyway). Dust is in the air. We don't know who is in compliance with the law. Nothing either side is doing is final at this point. What Epic fans here are not reading but should is Apple leveraged the EU to get assurances that Epic will comply with Contract Law and if they do not they are gone.
Public Second Chances always fail and the EU will have to admit that once Sweeney again shoots his mouth off and breaks the contract. When that happens the EU will be forced to abstain from negotiating on Epic's behalf.
if you don't know this happens then you don't know politics.
Apple should have the right to decide what app stores are allowed to operate on the platform they created and spent billions developing and maintaining. Those blindly defending Epic because they can't get to take free advantage of proprietary technology for their own gain are really sad.Hahaha. Poor little Apple doesn’t get to decide what is legal over a whole continent. Really sad.
Being in the US, I am really jealous about this. Yeah, we can "change" our browser but with it still being webkit, it sucks. I want to use Firefox WITH extensions on iOS but no, Apple is being dumb about it.EU to the rescue! All of this reminds me of Microsoft, when EU forced em to let users choose a browser. It looked exactly like this: (and history repeats)

You joke, but the people who mess up their phones because they installed shady apps from shady app stores aren't going to be asking for tech support from the owner of the shady App Store. I mean, lots of users already don't understand that Apple doesn't make every app in the App Store. So I can just use Targets infrastructure and millions of customer and not have to pay them a single penny? I also plan on using their water, electricity, employees as well.
Absolutely not.You mean ULTA, Sephora is inside Kohls stores.
That's a deal both companies made, along with Disney and even Apple to have a "mini-store" inside. Do you think Target allows them to do so for free?
There is no way the government even had time to file any paperwork. What Fantasy world do you live in that government works that fast? Apple wanted in writing that Epic would play by the rules, guessing they got it.Wrong
They were forced to backtrack by the EU.
Embarrassing stuff from Apple. PATHETIC even.
I wonder if what we read the other day and now this is the truth?Apple today reversed a decision to shut down Epic Games' developer account in the European Union, and the account has now been reinstated. In a statement to MacRumors, Apple said that Epic Games has committed to following the rules, allowing Epic Sweden to be reaccepted into the Apple Developer Program.
Why are you here?Apple and Epic are both pathetic and annoying.
Are you an American? because that reply is hella ignorant, but then again i dont see why i should argue with someone who doesnt understand or respect the laws of some other part of the world. They have a choice and it's called Android. No one is forced to purchase an iPhone or iPad
No they don’t get to decide ****. They’re just a business. If they don’t want to follow the law then gtfo out of EU.Apple should have the right to decide what app stores are allowed to operate on the platform they created and spent billions developing and maintaining. Those blindly defending Epic because they can't get to take free advantage of proprietary technology for their own gain are really sad.
The EU have previous for overstepping and this is nothing new.
How long before Epic breaks their promises and Apple gets to dump them again?
Why can't I just walk into Target, setup a booth and sell some stuff?
The only reason Epic couldn't bring its own App Store the iOS was because Apple required them to go through Apple for it and subsequently banned them for rules Apple made up. That was never going to stand under the DMA. This is pretty much a case of "we should settle this because if the EU actually starts to investigate, the gig will be up".Tim Sweeney tweeted so it must be true!
Bets on how fast before Epic breaks some rules and gets banned?
This is Apple throwing a tantrum over the DMA, the corporate equivalent to kicking and screaming on the floor. Not a lot of reason going on here. This is embarrassing. Surely there was someone inside Apple’s legal department who knew what would happen here. 🤦🏼♀️
By far the funniest outcome of this whole thing would be apple deciding "the EU market isn't worth it" and then watch the politicians scramble at Apple users all over the continent scream at the EU bureaucrats for taking away their iPhones. Will never happen, but would be hilarious. No they don’t get to decide ****. They’re just a business. If they don’t want to follow the law then gtfo out of EU.
They own the software that makes your iPhone an iPhone. When you buy a phone you pay for a license to use that software the way they say you can use it.Absolutely not.
But Apple does not own my iPhone either.
So if Target built a store ("platform") in a part of town that was dead and turned the area into a booming shopping center, you feel Target has the right to determine if you can open a store across the street to capitalize on the shoppers coming to that part of town? And it's reasonable and fair that the business has to pay a Core Tech Fee to Target too?Off the backbone of someone else’s platform, so the Target analogy is still accurate.
well it's not like you town is setup so that Target is the only place to buy stuff at.Why can't I just walk into Target, setup a booth and sell some stuff?
