Some of us who received the app updates are on 13.4 so your hypothesis is busted dude.

No, not at all. 13.5 has caused the issue because of the tracking. People on 13.4 will get updates because of the problem, but they won't get tracked by the layers in the 13.5 API. It is a mess, but if you're happy with that, that's fine ... good for you.

Here’s the fix. I had this on both iPhone X and iPad Pro 10.5” since the iOS update prior to 13.5 Took me a lot of trials to find this.

Go to Settings > iTunes & App Store. Sign OUT of your Apple ID then sign back in. Fixed my issues, four times now.

Fun fact: those updates are installed instantly regardless of your internet speed. If that is a full size update, it would need time to download and install. So the expired certificate thing sounds reasonable.

Edit: some still take a few seconds to download. Interesting. Maybe some are legitimate updates while others are just certs issue.
That’s the case with all app updates isn’t it? The size listed is just the full app size, while your actual download depends on the version you currently have installed, your device, etc.
So if these download quickly that’s not different to a small update at any other time, I think.

While this is usually true, for some apps caught in this issue, their updates completely “almost instantly”, like, as soon as circle starts to fill up, it goes straight to 3/4 and quickly display “open”, whereas for a normal update, at least some data will be downloaded, causing noticeable delays. My internet speed is low so I notice that discrepancy.

Nice piece of projection there buddy. I never said I was happy or unhappy about tracking. Do you often come to conclusions based on no evidence whatsoever because that's the second time you've done it in this thread alone?

Anyway, I don't want to waste any more time on you. Goodbye.

I have using iPhone 7 Plus. My phone has been started to stuck time to time. According to me, Apple screwed up for upgrading iOS. I will never update anymore. All the time all the time so many bugs so many problems. That’s is really enough. Don’t bring any feature on iOs. Just fix bugs. Hey Apple don’t you see that iOS is NOT STABLE anymore. Offf

'This App is No Longer Shared' Bug?
Ooops... bug? Say again?
[Checking the three unpublished rules of the MacRumors Forum.]

1. It is never a bug, it is always a feature.
2. Since it did not happen to me, it never happened.
3. And, if I blame Apple's eroding quality control, I am just a malcontent, a rube, an Apple hater.

You forgot that maybe the app developers got caught violating some rules, like privacy again. Oh, that never happens

Over 300 app updates in 8 hours. I’m guessing every single app I have will update.
Wow, I don't even have near 300 apps period, and I didn't get any updates, feeling so left out. I wonder what the common denominator is? No one seems to be grasping for this. But I bet there is something the developers are doing, that they shouldn't be and they got caught, or they are using n a certain SDK that is broken or changed

Ah thanks, yeah, makes sense. a certificate change might just be like a few kB, whereas even a small update to code might be a few mb.

Apple has been very transparent here. They talk to billions of people an hour and they’ve never once heard of this issue. So, to resolve this known issue, engineering is recommending you keep your apps and iOS up to date.

Some transparency from Apple would be helpful. Last night I had about 20 updates and thought that was suspicious.

So, 13.5 and all that contact-tracing stuff is nice and secure, is it? Not buggy? Not letting every app track and trace you?

Roll back, if you can, because that is the root of the problem: shared apps and the tracking API not knowing which version of the shared app / device to follow and log. It is a clusterfuuuck.
You don’t seem to understand what “security” means. This bug, no matter how annoying, never compromised any security.

My explanation: we heard yesterday that unloading the app and loading it back fixed the problem. Apple tells your phone that apps need updating, achieving the same thing. Now _normally_ if you update say from 3.2.5 to 3.2.6 that might be a 10MB download but updating from 3.2.6 to 3.2.6 might be 0.0MB.

Still on 13.1.2 here. So, how's that whine about 13.5 being the issue working out for you?

You got any proof of this or this just an assumption?

This is a dumb take.

I never experienced that bug. That being said, I always check for app updates every night before going to bed (I am a bit OCD). Usually I have 2-3 of my 180 apps update. On Mondays/Tuesdays it is not unusual for that to grow to 10 or 12.

Last night I had 32. I thought this was very strange, so I am glad to hear it wasn't just me!

It’s hardly the first time I have to update the same apps twice with the same version. This time though it’s more than the 4-6 apps that require double updates (usually the “updates” are only 2-3 days old)

Yeah, MacHiavelli must have been influenced too much by his pseudo… or he learned this theory from the same “news” sources that explain how Covid-19 is caused by 5G, how Ukrainians spy on you through your fridge, how your teddy bear can kill you, etc. 😉

It would literally take me hours to go through every single app per day if I have 2000+ apps installed on my iPhone. Oh wait, I don’t event have 2000 apps bought under my account. :O

How many of those have been updated for you because of this certificate bug?

That explains the more than 60 updates in the last 12 hours!
