Me too. Disappointed by lack of Dolby Atmos on the release note.

Hopefully, 14.1 also fixes HomePod occasionally "Not Responding" in HomeKit and requiring a restart and/or reset.

I wonder if intercom feature can be triggered from other devices like iPhone, or whether that would require iOS 14.1.
Dolby Atmos is a feature that is coming, so why are you disappointed that it is not released yet? Better to get it right than get it soon. Intercom is a new feature, not fully rolled out yet. But it does work between HomePods.

Why don't they make a mode where the HomePod is the bass and the HomePod mini is the tweeter? Do people even know what basses and tweeters are anymore?
This is EXACTLY what is needed especially if you have additional AirPlay2 speakers. Why not allow EQ functions or setting of frequency cutoffs for F/C/R speakers and a sub. Hell, Homepod/ATV could probably set the delays and cutoffs automatically.

Seems like this would help sell an awful lot of Homepods and makes Sonos extremely uncomfortable.

It sucks that I can’t ask Siri via HomePod to play on all my “AirPlay 2” enabled Sonos speakers. You have to manually enable via control center or the airplay button then you can give Siri request that will then play on all the speakers. Seems like walled garden BS to me.
probably at your Sonos, they would need some software that they don't have. If you are talking playing Apple Music through a HomePod and connecting to other HomePods, appletVs, it doesn't actually stream from one HomePod to the others

Hmmm I might be going crazy here, but the Intercom section within HomePod settings momentarily appeared after updating both iPhone and HomePod then disappeared?

When prompting Siri on HomePod - “hey, Siri make an announcement” she replied, “looks like intercom is turned off for my home” how does on turn on intercom?

But surely there's no point in having Dolby Atmos unless you've got the speaker configuration to deliver it, or am I misunderstanding your point?

What about HomeKit Secure Video activity zones?

HomePods will virtualize Dolby Atmos, just like most modern TVs. Yes, it is much better to use dedicated discrete speakers for each channel. But some soundbars and stereo speakers do decent virtualization, provided you sit in the sweet spot.

Am I the only one without intercom? I have a HomePod, but there’s no option for it anywhere. If it’s only for multiple HomePods, that’s kind of ridiculous. In the presentation they clearly used other Apple devices (iPhone, Apple Watch, CarPlay) to send announcements. I don’t see why multiple HomePods would be a requirement for this feature.

I’m experiencing the same, but with a twist! https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...nd-homepod-mini-support.2262079/post-29073660

Intercom only works from
Homepod to another one, how do you use iPhone Apple Watch etc, also the setting on some YouTube videos doesn’t have the icon to set it

But they clearly showed using intercom from CarPlay to HomePod. Is this coming later?

I am really confused by the Atmos support being offered on the original Homepod. Do I need 13 Homepods or can it work with existing speakers? All the reviews claim it works with 5.1 and 7.1 audio... but that's not Atmos content. If it is simulated Atmos than why is it limited to the expensive model. You just need to tell the Apple TV how far apart the speakers are.

I don't know the story here, but all Dolby Atmos support means is a device can take a Dolby Atmos encoded input, process it and output it. That output could be a simple down-mixed mono or stereo output.

iPhone to HomePod intercom works well for me

Not working from my iPhone

In Home > Settings > Intercom I turned on the toggle next to my name and it all started working. Just say “Hey Siri Intercom” say the message and hey presto.

Hmmm, these settings don't exist, I haven't had the popup in the Home app, yet I can Intercom between HomePods. Doesn't work from iPhone, running the latest software, all devices. Have restarted everything!

Is that 'Home...Settings.....Intercom' in the 'Home' app? I don't see it.....
