I thought you could Intercom to specific rooms in the Home app. Doesn’t look like that’s the case tried it and it sends the audio message to all my HomePods.
You have to specify the room name .. "Hey Siri ... Intercom Office" "Hey Siri Intercom Bedroom". etc.. etc..

Is anyone else having a problem updating? It keeps going in circles. Download. Install. Spin. Download. Install. Spin. Ugh! I like my HomePods, but updating and keeping connected to network have always been an issue.

Does anyone know yet if Dolby Atmos works with Homepods if you don’t have a TV that is capable of Atmos processing? If you can that would justify an Apple TV update for me.
Yea, your TV isn’t part of the audio chain here. Your HomePods will receive the Atmos signal just fine.

Anyone not receiving notifications on the iPhone when someone send an intercom: > iPhone settings > notifications > enable notifications for Home App. Also you need to complete the welcome steps in the Home App.

I’m not seeing Atmos when I slide down while the movie is playing and I am not hearing a difference at the moment either. I can’t seem to find any setting right now in the Apple TV to turn it on. Anyone having luck?

I have two Apple TV 4Ks with two stereo pairs - one is allowing me to select “Immersive Audio” in the Audio Format menu but the other does not. Both attached TVs’ speakers also offer Dolby Atmos which are recognized when switching to that audio output (as they were previously).

Are you sure you’re seeing that when you have selected the HomePod as the audio output?

I updated my HomePods and iPhone X to 14.2. On my iPhone I only have the Never option to receive intercom notifications. My iPad has Anywhere, When I am Home and Never. Has anyone else seen this?

Did anyone find information wether the selecting a HomePod as standard audio output feature is also available on AppleTV HD?

Yes - I actually reset and set up the HomePods fresh on the other set and they are also showing that option with “Auto, Dolby Atmos Available” as it was previously with TV output.

I’m not seeing that on mine. I went and selected TV speakers and then reselected HomePod speakers as default, but am still not seeing Dolby Atmos as an option.

Do you need to have your homepods set as the default for this to pop up?
Asking because if I set mines as default it doesn’t appear as of yet but I used my tv output to put sound to my 2 ipod hi-fi, and if my homepods are set as default well I can no longer select my tv output through the airplay option

Yes, they can’t be selected as AirPlay so far as I can tell. They must be the default audio output in the audio settings. AirPlay does get a little weird when they are set as the default - the HomePod pair now appears with the same name as the Apple TV 4K. It is almost as if they become one AirPlay device from iOS/iPadOS/macOS devices without needing the TV to turn on.

My homepods not appearing in the Audio settings for default....any suggestions?

I think the immersive audio option that is showing is related to the tv he’s got and it’s not the home theatre via HomePod option we are all looking for. I suspect if I had my AVR plugged in (it’s being repaired) then I would see the same options too but I don’t think that means the HomePods in the above example are outputting 5.1 / 7.1 and also Atnos. I don’t think it’s enabled in the versions released asd today despite Apple stating it is.

I can be almost certain it isn’t my TV - as before completely resetting the HomePods, I saw the Immersive Audio settings when my TV was the default device, but when I switched to the HomePod pair, it did not (and showed only Auto, not Auto, Dolby Atmos Available in the A/V summary screen). Once they were reset, re-paired, and set as default again, the option appeared. Furthermore, this wasn’t an option at all with the 14.2 beta I tested.

Rebooted my HomePods, re-paired and set as the default audio output devic.
Still don’t see the option in audio format .. :(

So can I check. Nobody is currently able to set their homepods to default audio and nobody seems to be able to output atmos through their homepods?

Did you re-boot or reset? A few reboots didn’t do it for me either... very un-Apple setup process (but very Dolby 🙄)

Most of us seem to be able to set the homepods as the default. The beta tvOS allowed this and so does the release version. Have you got both devices on 14.2, the HomePod and AppleTV? You need both on 14.2.

I set the homepods to the default output to Apple TV etc and couldn’t see the Atmos option in Netflix. I closed the Netflix app and opened it again and now can see atmos listed with the title. Not sure if it’s outputting in atmos though 🤷🏻‍♂️

edit. Before it said 5.1 whereas now it says atmos.
