I scanned the product page, not HDCP compliant? I know Apple doesn't support Blu, but how about a little future proofing.

What's with the no HDMI port? And if they would have included DHCP as well I wouldn't of had to buy someone else's monitor to watch blu-ray!

Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol ? Why would I want it on my monitor, it doesn't even have a network port. :p

I think you meant HDCP.

Bought a 24" last week. Am I entitled to a $100 refund now the price has come down to $799 within the return period?

Also, apart from the screen real estate/resolution, is there any other spec difference? Same (short) cord? Same connectivity, etc? I think I prefer the 24" from the point of view that it matches the format of my Macbook Pro screen.

This is an incredible price for the expanded resolution from the 24" model. I own three of the 24" LED ACDs. I plan to upgrade all three to the 27" model. I love this setup... stunning and got so much better with much more desktop space in not too much larger desk space. It is almost as much desktop space as the 30" ACD too. I believe this is an incredible deal for $999, and I am shocked more people aren't happy with this deal. I figured this would get 90% positive ratings.

I have a 30" and an old iSight, and I wish I had this new monitor instead. About time they reduced screen size and added a camera. I'm not so sure where all the naysayers think the tech can go. 3000 x 2000 30" perhaps?

Hdcp

I thought the displays had it? I can watch a Blu Ray movie on my MacPro with Windows 7. Hmmmmm. Thoughts?

And yeah, I may get another 24" for that price, especially shaving off $100 for an education discount. Seems like a no brainer, plus I still have a 23" DVI CCFL LCD, three displays would be sweet.

However, where the f is the display port ability to daisy chain displays??? Isn't that one of the key features??

I had that happen to me a few years ago with an Apple laptop. I just called them up and they sent me the difference in cost. It was no problem.

I just hate that all that space on the back is wasted on three USB 2.0 ports. It really needs FW800 at the very least.

Truth is though, I was expecting to pay $1100 for the Dell 27" (still may given the port options and non gloss) but the Apple one does look enticing.

Agree. However the 24" with $100 off for an education discount (just order from the apple store online, or in the store, they never check the date of a student ID :D ) isn't a bad price, especially if you have one already.

I think this an excellent deal. I plan on getting 3 27inches myself. I run a lot of screen greedy programs (Maya, Unity, Photoshop, Painter, ZBrush, etc) and could really use the screen real estate.

The Apple site, under the Mac accessories section, mentions and shows photos of only the 27" display. Should we assume the 24" will be discontinued the moment the 27" is actually available?

Probably I'm going against many people's thinking, but I feel it about 200 USD overpriced if compared with the iMac. The base 27" model is priced at 1699 USD, but it's a whole computer.

you cant be serious? that thing has been superseeded about 20 times now  :p

i am very happy with this release. means i now have the choice between a C2D 27" or 27" Cinema as my 2nddary monitor :D

Superseeded about 20 times?? Not quite. Sure there are slightly better specced 30" screens out there now but the difference isn't all that. In terms of overall looks, resolution, pixel real estate etc I still think it's great. I would rather have this screen than one of the new 27" display screens. The loss of pixels and 3" of screen size really isn't worth the LED backlight to me. They can hype it up all they want but I won't be interested until they release an LED display with a resolution and physical size superior to the 30" ACD. I'm not looking to downgrade thanks.

It's cheaper than the Dell equivalent.

True, for list price anyway. I'd be feeling remorse, but I got my U2711 new and warrantied for $900, and it has height adjustment, loads of connectivity, and a matte screen. No LED backlight, though, which is too bad.

I'll swap what the U2711 has what the ACD 27 doesn't have, any day.
