Haha I bought a 16 GB two weeks ago and now they upgraded it...on the plus side I don't have 500 dollars for either phone or touch, so I am still happy with my purchase.

Thanks Steve for not making any goofy price adjustments!

Ouch, $500? No thanks.

Anyway, I'm still happy with my 8 GB touch, considering I have 1.5 GB of empty space on it. Though for an additional $200, if I had waited, I could have had 25.5 GB free...

I think it's more significant that the iPhone is now available in 16 GB, but as I've said before, they have to release the 32 GB touch and the 16 GB iPhone at the same time to prevent overlap.

But good for those with huge libraries! Choice is a beautiful thing.

I'm pretty annoyed that Apple saw fit to not mention these two weeks ago at MW. The logic really escapes me as to why they would not do this except maybe to clear out old stock in the channel.

Luckily, I bought from Amazon with a 30 day return policy. I have filled my up already and I don't have all the music I want to carry around on it.

SDK and Apps, here we go!!!

Why was there no word of this at Macworld? This actually pisses me off pretty bad. I bought the 16G on Jan. 15th right after the show and now this comes out...

Since when does Apple telegraph these changes ahead of time?

Not that we didn't know that they were coming sooner or later.

Yes, because Apple is SO well known for pre-announcing upgrades to their products.

The pre-announcement for the initial iPhone release was logical because word would get out via FCC filings, but remind of a time when they told us, "Oh yeah, we'll be updating iProductX in the next month?" It's Apple.

They sure made me look the fool with my boss, though. I spent 20 minutes telling him just yesterday that I didn't expect a 32 GB version for another 6-9 months.

Hmm..I just bought a 16 gb a few days ago. I can still return it. I have 30 gb of content but I just don't feel like I need to carry ALL of it around at once. Decisions, decisions...

I have a 16 gig Touch. I still have 2 gigs left over, because I put everything I could find on it. I don't need a 32 gig version. Come out with something compelling, like a slightly larger viewing screen, without making the form factor larger (there's space around the LCD I could do without), add a camera, bluetooth headset, etc. and I'll consider upgrading.

I'm really hating Apple at the moment. I was thinking of getting a macbook as well, but may just use the money on something else. They'll find some sort of way to put me off, or take more of my money.

If it helps any, that's probably an accurate time table for the 32 GB version to move into the $399 spot, which is what most people would expect to happen. So you probably weren't completely off the mark. ;)

$499 in the US

£329 ($647) in the UK !!

It is cheaper in the US, but not by as much as it first appears, because UK prices include VAT (sales tax) whereas US prices do not. US sales tax varies from state to state, so rather than list prices with all the varying amounts of sales tax, its easier and tidier for Apple (and most other companies) to list prices without sales tax in the US.

Roughly, its more like $70 or so cheaper, than the $147 cheaper it initially seems.

I just checked the New Zealand Apple store and it's available for 749.00 dollars. Maybe I'll upgrade at the end of the year, or not, but not now. After some of the stunts Steve has pulled lately I' m not going to go out and give him any more money than I've already spent. 16 gb is just fine.

IM SO SICK OF APPLE NOW,
I was so happy with them last year but im fed up with them

This really doesn't bother me.

I 'only' have the 8gb touch but I've still got over 2gb of space left. I have been more choosy about the music I've got on it, but still kept my entire photo library on it.

And the touch is still a fantastic iPod whatever capacity it comes in.

If you wanted more capacity then you should have bought a Classic.

Too bad that price is bloated to high hell. You can get a 32GB Flash Zen player for well under $300.

That does what? Surf the web, keep contacts really nicely, has an excellent email client, and will have wonderful apps in February?

I appreciate the reference but how can you compare such "Apple's" to oranges?

And then only if you spend US dollars, which last I checked, was not the currency used in Great Britain.

Man, I was really hoping for the 32 to replace the 16 at and the 16 to replace the 8. I'm still holding out with a 3rd gen 15 gig model that gets an hour of charge max. I can't afford the 32, but 16 is too small!

Any idea when prices will go down?

cause they are becoming like money hungry or something not for the consumer anymore. ya know.

No, I don't really follow. They're adding an additional iPod Touch to the lineup allowing those who want more space to get it.

IPhone or IPodTouch

would it be more economical for me (yeah:rolleyes:right) to get an IPhone with bigger memory for my music or an IPodTouch & a regular cell phone??? I never had an Ipod before :( but since i bought a new car which is Ipod compatible, i feel like i was compelled to get one, but at the same time, i'm shopping for a new cell phone- my contract with sprint is due next month-yippeee!:)

appreciate all your comments:apple:

Someone said this a few posts up, but...

What are the dimensions of the iPhone & iPod touch with the upgraded memory?
Is it on the holy Apple website?;)

EDIT: Never mind. There the same.
