...power adapter and cables.

So I guess you must have some kind of power supply other than the Touch's battery, or a computer. If that's the case then I guess I can see why you'd be pumped over a Touch with a larger storage capacity. But for me, the only power supply is my iMac, so the extra storage doesn't do me any good.

I'd do it. 32 gigs is WAY a lot of movies/tv shows/songs/applications.

I have a 16 gig Touch. I have over 1200 tunes 4 movies. 240 picts, etc. Now I look at the Apple page on the 32 gig Touch. I could put on an additional 10 movies and 400 for tunes. Probably more.

Lets see according to Apple I get 5 hours of video time. What real good is the extra space. I have to recharge. I take a 4 hour flight. I still have to recharge. I can only watch 2 movies on the flight. I know, the stuff is still on the Touch.

Unless you are going somehwere for a week. You can watch only so many movies, and listen to so much music. So at home, I recharge and re-sync. No big deal. Now if I did not have a Touch, I would pop for the 32, stupid not to.

For those eyeing up the 32 gig, you better look into this--

I am thinking in terms of an Apple Composite AV Cable for $49. It's easy to carry and you can play your videos on a hotel/friend's TV.

Or the simple USB power supply and adapter for my Nano, to just recharge the Touch when on a trip.

Looks good.

So tell me, with the Touch only getting five hours of battery live when watching video (http://www.apple.com/ipodtouch/specs.html), why spend all that money on storage space when based on the specs from Apple you have to get your Touch back to a computer after only five hours of video watching. If you have to get your Touch back to a computer to get the battery recharged, why not take the opportunity to update whatever videos you have on it.

In the long run, as usual, it's the battery life that limits you. Not how much you can stuff you can put on it. That's why I think my 8GB Touch is just about perfect :)

I agree with 8 and 16GB being perfect for people like you and me that sync a lot, but there are people that don't have the ability to sync everyday. My friend travels weekly and doesn't usually carry his computer so he loads up movies and podcasts in the beginning of the week and watches them for the 4 or 5 days he is travelling. Quality video takes a lot of space and he wants the high quality so when he is in a hotel he can hook it up to the TV and watch on a bigger screen. So for him the 32B version is a big deal, just depends on the person and their needs.

EDIT: Sorry didn't read any further to see you had this discussion already :(

I agree with the above. I want Apple to make money, in fact I'm a shareholder. I just find some of the recent practices annoying as a consumer. If you want to see where not taking care of the customer will get you, look at Dell and the terrific overseas call centers and the obnoxious coupon and configuration scams they run on trying to get a sale price on the custom configuration options. Fu%! them...

I'm specifically annoyed because I waited until MW to see what would be announced. I then decided to buy a 16Gb with the "Apple 14-day" or whatever policy to find I would not get the apps without paying $20 because I didn't buy it from the Apple store, I only bought it from an authorized apple retailer... Then, two weeks later, they annouce what I really wanted but was no longer willing to wait months for. In another few weeks, who knows what they will announce.

I have returned my 16GB to Amazon and I will wait for the SDK announcements. Apple has no sale right now - is that really what they are trying to achive - teaching people to wait instead of buying?

I'm all for big business trying to get money, but I hate having to put off a purchase because I think something better will come along. Lately Apple is doing that. It just sucks a lot when lately they are stearing away from consumer based. Too many choices for too much money. I understand that technology advances. but apples choices of when to release products is not good timing.
A painter is done with his work and hangs it up when he knows he's perfected it and wants everyone to see his work, as of late apple seems to be rushing there products out.

And the start of this mess was with the 4gb and 8gb iPhone

The Apple executives are rolling on the floor laughing until it hurts! wake up people!

Your post brought me a big smile.

Apple is all about giving the consumer as much choice as they can. It's wonderful that they offer the Touch in three different sizes to fit the needs of different users.

The pricing of the Touch seems very reasonable to me.

You might want to ask the iPod Classic users that question. I believe its just good to have your collection on your ipod and not having to sync over your new content. Also I believe some people don't go back to the computer to charge. There are plenty of docks that do charge and thats where I keep my lil touch. Bigger space be nice so I wouldn't be force to sync movies back and forth on iTunes.

I mean they've pretty much been consistent in delivering one major ipod (not counting storage upgrades) per year - lately? the iPod has been out since 2001. If you just put yourself in the mode of buying the new one when it comes out, and selling it after the next one comes along, all is well

Could i connect the touch to my n95 and use its 3G highspeed over wifi?
interesting idea

I have no idea what someone is thinking in that they can use their phone to let the touch use wifi. Unless the phone has server functionality built in then there is no way this can happen. Period.:(
Believe it or not this one thing prevented me from buying the iphone and still will. I need to be able to travel AND EDIT docs, etc. which requires a full OS and internet connection. It seems this is getting closer but is likely 2-3 years away before the size shrinks to that of the iphone.

Wow... I bought my 8GB iPod Touch... after January 15th...... then they come out with this.... and the price on the 16GB is given a decent price drop...... I wish I could get the 16GB now that the price is lower... but I just bought the new apps for it.........

I don't believe that the price of the 16GB Touch has been reduced.

The 8GB and 16GB models cost the same ($299 and $399 respectively), with the 32GB model coming in at $499.

The prices look good.

I think the portable Ipod charger is cool, but I just bring along my wall charger when I travel. It's just an inexpensive plug in device and connects to my Ipod. I have a one hour flight this Thursday, and I'll be gone for four days. Before leaving I'll make sure I have a good charge.

I've been buying some TV shows from Itunes, the Fuel First Hand series. A few of those will be perfect for my upcoming flights!

Hey, I was thinking of picking up the new 32gb.

Has the screen been fixed? I remember when the touch first came out, there were numerous complaints about inverted blacks, and the screen quality not being so good.

also can you read PDF's on it (not from email) yet, or no. (and I mean w/o jail breaking the ipod)
