Yea if you need government to give you Medicaid (at or below poverty line) you shouldn’t buy Apple Watches. This isn’t for those people. In fact they probably should stick to $40 androids.

Edit: I’m 100% defending Apple. People like and want the product and not everyone can afford it but those who work hard and manage money can and may choose to buy it. Personally I set money aside for about a year while debating if I wanted to spend that much on it and don’t regret it. But as always the best dollar isn’t spent it’s saved getting compounding interest in a sure thing high yield savings account or in the stock market where time will likely be in favor of the investor.
So what you're saying is, anybody that doesn't have all the opportunities in life that you do, shouldn't buy an Apple watch.

How very elitist of you and it's a shame the US & most of its citizens don't have any compassion for the sick, poor & lower classes. Oh well, at least Apple will continue with their fake altruistic "equality for all" facade👍🏻.

My point was that I'm "defending" companies of all sizes, not just specifically a multi-trillion dollar company. As I stated, the size of the company should be irrelevant in this case. Apple just happens to be the topic of discussion here but we could be talking about any number of companies, large or small.
Wait, so you are defending Apple now even though you said you weren't?

It's this simple, Apple could stop making themselves out to be an altruistic company that sells "premium" products that, if people want to buy them, they also have to pay a "premium" when realistically they're just like any other company out there, as you put it.

Remember when Apple came out and said they weren't putting chargers in the box with their iPhones because they were wanting to be a green company, then they said "we're releasing the new iPhone at the same low price as last year". Then the rest of us said "so it's going to cost the end user more, because now you'd have to buy a new USB C charger because when I sell my old phone, the charger it came with should go with it".

This is the type of cockamamie i'm talking about, a different kettle of cockamamie but realistically the same cockamamie, just regarding a different product and Timmy Cook & his marketing department are a fools for thinking we'd all fall for it.

When has Apple ever made itself out to be an altruistic company? 🤣 That’s some grade A brainwashing on Apple’s part if your takeaway is that Apple markets itself as altruistic. Everyone knows Apple is a luxury brand that on rare occasion throws some crumbs to the poors in the form of a lower end model but even that is still out of the price range for poor people that are wise with their money. The only way my family gets Apple products is because of my hand-me-downs.

Not everybody can afford everything in the world and nobody is getting forced to buy something they can’t afford.
Do you expect everything to be free? Should expensive products not exist at all? What exactly is your point?

You have to know your place in life. I couldn’t afford some of these things in my younger days and plenty of things I can’t afford today. It’s not elitist it’s realist. If you’re not homeless you have the opportunity to apply for a better job to increase education to seek opportunities. As a boy I fancied a sports car I saw in a James Bond movie. A guy around here has one and it’s gorgeous but do I cry that he should be spending his hard earned money on those who maybe wouldn’t do the same to help themselves or do I just let him enjoy it? Also Apple sells premium products not plastic crap it’s all aluminum and stainless. Not sure where people get the idea that it’s some TJ max or Big lots. They partnered with Hermes not Fossil. Yes if your struggling to put food on the table or stay housed you should not spend $350 on an Apple Watch and another $49 on a band or in the case of the link bracelet $750 on a watch and $350 on a band.

Apple may have a desire to become carbon neutral and help the environment but that doesn't make them purely altruistic. Anyone who thinks otherwise has a pretty naive or ignorant view of the company.

There are a number of factors that go into pricing iPhones and the cost of the charger is an insignificant one. For many customers, not including a charger didn't cost them more because they already had at least one perfectly good charger from other devices. Because of that, including chargers with every device could be seen as wasteful.

As far as price changes, maybe Apple had planned to raise prices $XX for other reasons but because a charger was no longer included, they decided not to. Again, many things go into pricing so there's no way to know for sure how much the charger factored into it.

The only thing cockamamie here are your warped views regarding Apple and premium/luxury priced goods. Given that, I see no reason to continue this discussion.

C'mon man, don't play dumb, Apple has always been about DEI.

Yes you're right, Apple do throw crumbs at the poor people who are trying to be savvy with their money and yes, I too give my hand me down devices to my family, but not because they're poor, because we're not stupid which Apple seems to think everyone is.

No I think a company shouldn't make out that they are for equal rights whilst pricing its products for the middle to upper classes. Apple should just drop the DEI crap.

Yes you're right, people should know their place in life, and those people running companies like Apple should know they shouldn't make out to be all about equality, whilst being about the 549 dollar link bracelet which some of the poor demographics that they bang on about wouldn't even consider buying that product because they have to decide between paying rent or buying food.

I don’t disagree on the DEI BS but that has nothing to do with being altruistic.

Once had a Lexus RV and it was called "champagne gold"... no champagne (not from that region) nor any real gold. I should have been more outraged. on several levels ;)
You have a gift, I would pay(*) for a ticket to attend one of your stand-up comedy shows.
