Ouch!

Jeez i thought i was bad with 2 weeks. That's just ridiculous. Still you'll love it when it does arrive, mine hasn't left my side since i got it! 🙂

same email moog... its approaching a month!

whats even better is that on the Apple Store, my order summary is listed as Shipped! It has a tracking number for TNT Netherlands as well.

..however this was on Friday. I rang TNT today, and it appears the tracking number is not one of theirs. So what are Apple playing at? Are they now listing orders as shipped, just hoping that customers won't ring to complain?

Unbelievable.

awww i hope not...

mine too "shipped" today and I have a confirmation email, etc with several tracking numbers...

So far TNT turns up blank... but that could be because its not on their system yet... we shall see!

3 Weeks and 1 day to ship... thats not bad going apple!

YES! I had the same thing. TNT only had my iPod overnight! For about a week and a half when it had 'shipped' it wasn't with TNT. I don't have a clue where it was.

When TNT get it you'll get a second tracking number which will work on the TNT tracking 🙂

Well I went down to the Square Group on New Oxford Street, London and picked up a 4G 20GB iPod, then went down Tottenham Court Road and picked up a pair of Shure E2C in-ear headphones.

The iPod is cool, the click-wheel thingy is very intuitive and the sound through the E2's is awesome. I tried the stock earbuds first for comparison and they really are a pile of brown stuff.

If you can handle sticking things into your ear canal and being almost completely cut-off from the outside world (very little extraneous noise gets into your ears so you have to be careful when crossing the road etc, but also very little noise leakage occurs so your not sharing your music with fellow commuters) then these babies are perfect.

you're doing better than me, I haven't had a confirmation shipping email yet. However you ordered a few hours earlier than me, so maybe our waits are coming to an end?

Went to my local apple store yesterday and picked up a 20gb ipod! I love the new features, I previously had an old second generation ipod. One feature I like that doesn't get mentioned is when you unplug the headphones it automatically pauses. Neat. also when you plug them back in it resumes your place, very nice. I like the clickwheel, very intuitive, very minimalist. I'm a happy guy. 🙂

The 4g are nice... but I actually like the 3g just as well....
The longer battery life would be nice though

60GBs

I am not sure if anyone else noticed this, but in the current (Sept 2004) issue (the one with Jet Li on the cover) of Men's Health they talk about Apple readying a 60GB iPod. Unfortunately the article isn't on-line yet.

It is during a comparison with the new Sony. They say:

"With Apple readying a bulked-up, 60-gigabyte iPod with new features, Sony's opening flurry fails to deliver a knockout punch..."

I'm aware of the guy at Men's Health who does their IT, and who probably wrote this piece. I'd be very surprised if he's got any inside information, so he'll just be regurgitating the general rumour of a 60GB model coming out before Christmas. Not very good journalism, but there you go.

I just got mine!

I just got my 4G iPod yesterday! Man, am I blown away! I love it. This is my first iPod and I'm really happy with it. I don't think I've put it down since it was delivered! 😀

My iPod were scheduled to be shipped on August 16th. Now I got a message that they are delayed. 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁

You got to hand it to Apple, they my piss you around with the delivery, but upon delivery they don't really have any disatisfied customers!

what do you guys bet there's hidden wireless stuff in the new 4G ipods right now.

they'll release some new firmware to make it stream to airport express. bet you anything.

Anything? Can I take you up on that offer? My Original Dual 2 G5 is starting to feel a little slow, and a new iPod would be nice too...

What to do first ?

Hi guys,

my new iPods haven't shipped yet, but they will soon. So I thought about what to do first ? I am talking about the battery. Should I first fully charge them or can I connect them directly to my iBook ? I know that it charges then. But do I have to keep it connected then until its fully charged ?

I heard its quite important what you do with the battery on the first charges. Any advice ?

As soon as I got my new 4G iPod I plugged it into my computer and let it charge. You can either charge it using the outlet, or hooking it up to your computer, as the manual indicates.

Mine has been working great thus far and I can't get enough of it!

Apple info about batteries .
New 4G iPods, like 3G ones use Li-Ion batteries, and like mobile phone batteries on the first charges you should first charge it full and drain the battery out, and then fully charge. Repeat steps 3-4 times. This was suggested in my mobile phone manual (Nokia 3510i) and I've read about batteries in the net. Time-to time (once in a month) you should also do this, full charge and drain out and fully charge. This will keep your battery in the best possible condition. I suggest to read the link above. Oh, btw, it's just the same if you connect it to your 'Book or use the power adapter, the battery get's charged, and that's the main point.

Me, I'm still waiting for my 4G 20 GB to ship.....
