My iPod was shipped from Cork on Friday and arrived on Monday, and the accessories (remote and case) were shipped by TNT Nederland B.V. on Monday and arrived this morning in the UK.

OK, sounds pretty good 🙂

Cant wait 😀

btw, what if you're not home when the tnt-guy comes? Will he just drop it off, or do you have to sign for it? Does he take it back with him to the Netherlands you reckon?

My iPod was supposed to come today by 10:30. It didn't. I called Fed-Ex and it seems the package is stuck in Alaska. I'm waiting for a call back. Talk about torture. They had better ship that baby next day. I need my iPod!

No! What they are supposed to (and usually do) is leave a card with the local depot's location so you can ring them and arrange a second delivery, or pick it up yourself. www.tnt.com will show you the location of your nearest depot.

Sometimes, some delivery companies (or rather their drivers) are lazy and just sign the proof of delivery card themselves and chuck the box over the garden fence and leave you a note. Not good if it contains a 20gb or 40gb hard disk. I don't think TNT do this too often though, especially if the item is from somebody called "Apple Computer".

my 20GB just got here, shipped from shanghai sunday night.
gotta love the packaging..."enjoy" written on the software pack,
designed by apple in cupertino as soon as you open the box.

the iPod very nice...looks much more delicate than my original 5GB, but that could be b/c the 1st gen is a brick compared to these. this one is much sleeker, much more "feminine" i guess you could say.

loaded up about 6 gigs of music, the iPod got pretty warm after that, but quickly cooled off. i picked kid a as my inaugural playback. almost over now...so far no buzzing or noise as detailed on ipodlouge. phew.

40 GB 4G custom engraved iPod arrived today from Shanghai via Anchorage, Memphis, Winnipeg, and Vancouver (talk about a roundabout way to ship something 🙄 ).

I'll let you know if any problems arise.

Well, now I officially have had my ship date go from the 22nd, to the 27th, and now to the 29th. I placed my order within an hour of it being announced and I am getting totally shafted.

You think you guys in the UK have it bad? Try ordering something from the Apple store in Canada. 🙁

Well thats good news for me then (finally). I ordered mine at the same time you did but it has been pushed back to the 29th. I was beginning to think it was a conspiracy against canucks. 😉 *Kock on wood* for shipment this week.

I'm sorry to hear that, Cheat, my iPod is already a world traveler, having visited Shanghai, Anchorage, Memphis, Winnipeg, Vancouver and Calgary, where it finally arrived today. If Apple could figure out a less psychotic way to ship its products, maybe it could have its products shipped to its customers more quickly, AND save itself some money in the process... 🙄

Hey,

Just for kicks and giggles I mapped out your iPod's path:

It's actually not too bad... 🙁

I just got my 4G 40 gig ipod with custom engraving today. I ordered it that Tuesday night. I live in Pennsylvania if that is anyone's gauge.

I like it a lot. The clickwheel is such a great addition. I do not know how they can improve the navigation in future models. I have yet to test out the battery life and all, but I'm sure they're not lying to us. The customizable menu function is also really nice. It's a class A product, anyone that does not have one should invest in it.

New iPod 'has secrets'

According to a report there is more to the new generation iPod than Apple is letting on.

Time Magazine states: "You should know that internally the new iPod is a ground-up reconstruction, and its really compelling applications – the ones that very well might get the goat of anyone unable or unwilling to upgrade – are still secret. All that Apple is saying is that there's more to this than what's being publicized."

Hmmm, widely speculative guesses:

1) Wifi?
2) Touchscreen + Inkwell = Newton ][!
3) Hidden Color Screen + .MOV = iVideo!
4) Ok, how about a color-changing backlight?
5) Alright, how about this? Apple supported Trade-Up Program?

I'd like to see at least #4 and 5, please

This would be cool indeed for those like me who have already bought one on the basis of the existing spec. How unusual would this be for a company to understate it's features on its launch? I guess when the rivals start serious competition in a few weeks/months Apple can just pull the rabbit from the hat without a (hardware) revision.

I can hardly wait to find out what these features are!!

I can hardly wait to find out what these features are!!

I recall when the 3rd Gen was released, there was no mention of the recording capabilities. These were discovered via hacking, and then announced later when the hardware was released.

I, too, am most curious to see what these 'hidden' features will be...

TNT UK are useless

I'm absolutely livid with TNT today!

I've been waiting all day long for them to deliver a 40GB iPod. I tracked it this morning leaving the depot in London City - and then going back to the depot this evening. Suffice to say it has not been delivered to me.

I called TNT and they said the driver had gone home. I got them to call him and he said he'd "tried to deliver it at 09:30". He couldn't explain why he hadn't bothered to leave a delivery card though.

I explained it for him - he never set foot anywhere near my house today. I can't believe the dodgy lying drivers TNT are employing! The TNT rep. said they'd "been having problems withn some drivers". No sh*t Sherlock!

What a total waste of a day 😡 Anyone got any advice on how I should handle any complaint about this?

Now Apple are taking me for a ride too... sheesh. It really hasn't been my day today.

I called the Apple Store UK to complain about TNT. I then thought I'd double-check that they were sending me the famous missing accessories. I knew I was setting myself up for a fall...

Mary at the Apple Store UK is now saying I *will not* be getting the remote and case - totally contradicting both Sharon and Duncan at the Apple Store UK who told me on the phone that they would send the items out with my order, due to the webpage specs mistake that was made.

I'll be sending it straight back for a full refund if they p*ss me about any further on this one.

Golden rule: always seek written confirmation of verbal promises like this.

Hey Cheat did your iPod get sent out today?

Not yet. 🙁 I've been checking the status hourly in anticipation - not of it getting shipped, but delayed for the third time. 🙄

Sorry to hear that. I ordered my iPod Tuesday (July 20) and it shipped out on Monday, July 26. If I lived in Toronto like you, I would have probably received it on Tuesday or Wednesday. I called FedEx and they said I'll have it tomorrow! I can't wait. It's my first iPod, and with the recent "secret features" news I'm even more excited about it. My iPod was not engraved btw.
