Thanks for the confirmation. My gen 1 works well enough, but I am sure I will eventually like the upgrade once I feel the need to upgrade.
Same. My gen1 keep “breaking” and I say I’ll upgrade and then they get back to working fine and I don’t.

Eventually.

I’m curious if AirPod pros can remove the “hey” when invoking siri with this firmware. I have the iOS 17 beta and it gave me a notification that the “hey” is required with AirPods. Anyone know the answer?

How do you install this? Does it auto update if you are running ios 17?

I curious to owners of the current APP2 users: do any of you mind charging via lightning or magsafe?
It's never been a problem for me, but I understand usb-c holdouts.
I don't think I have ever charged with Lightning. I have a wireless charger at my bed, work desk, gaming desk and I have my apple watch charger by my bed too so I never have the need for plugging it in. I can see why people would want USB-C but it's a non-issue for me and I wouldnt wait until September for it.

I have AirPods Pro 2 & I’ve only used wireless charging… I have never used any other way to charge them…

Same here… Wireless charge both  14 Pro & AirPds Pro 2, then my watch is next to it… When I’m out & about I use my MagSafe charger for my phone & my AirPds Pro 2 if needed… Other than that I’m usually at home & I don’t use AirPods when I’m home

Mine haven't been plugged into lightning cable since purchasing them. I only ever charge wirelessly.
Same here… When I’m out & about if my  14 Pro needs charging I use my MagSafe… Would also use it on my AirPds Pro 2 if needed

I also received that same notification… Makes no sense if we can’t use it when I’m wearing my AirPds Pro 2’s…

Mmm the video made me laugh as he walks through the park and it was cutting out background noise.

I have used the pro 2 since launch last year and the ANC has gotten worse as I commute to work every day and I can hear more people Talking shuffling and coughing and cars on the road than I ever did when I first bought them.

They don’t block out anywhere near as much as they did when first came out, as I read the stories that apple reduced the ANC and thought it would be rubbish but over the past 6 months they have been reducing it little by little as i swear I could hardly hear anything when I first bought them.

Are you sure the fit in your ears isn't just getting worse over time?

What motivation would Apple have to make their product progressively worse?

Where do you turn your phone into Developer Mode? (using the iOS17 beta)

Super confused by this as well. A Google search says that it's supposed to be under Security & Privacy, but I don't see any such option there.

I cannot wait to try out the new modes. I wish the APM's had gotten some love, but I kinda get it.

One last thing about the USB-C hold outs: I totally get it. My only worry is potential users would miss out on a great product for another year or two. It might be worth the wait, but it's one of my favorite products I own, and the charging hasn't been an issue for me. But yes, Apple get USB-C on there stat.

anyone know the build number for the firmware
It's 6A238h, however, you don't get the beta FW for AirPods just because you're on the iOS 17 beta. You have to connect your phone to a Mac running Xcode, enroll the phone to use developer settings, then enable Pre-Release Beta Firmware for the AirPods.

After using the AirPods for a bit, I got a pop-up box asking me if I wanted to enable the new features. Conversation Awareness is awesome -- just start speaking and it lowers your audio volume.

Do I have to update my phone to iOS 17, or will the update install if I enable Pre-Release software in developer settings?
