MacBook Pro 15-inch Glossy Widescreen Display
2GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM - 2x1GB
2.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Apple USB Modem
Backlit Keyboard/Mac OS - U.S. English
160GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm
Accessory Kit
SuperDrive 6x (DVD+R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)

Soon, the little lady can use the PB12" full time.

:D
I just ordered it with 3 GB. I hope the system is not "out of balance" because of the non-even distribution of the memory banks.

802.11n

aswitcher, could you explain a bit more to me what you mean by
"802.11n pending firmware upgrade..." since you're the first to mention this at all? Does anyone know if this new MBP will have 802.11n at all (for the iTV)?

Those who bought their Computer in August should be happy with what they got since that was what was the best available at the time. And what are you talking about not in the forecast? The previous revision was here for just over 6 months. From April 2006 to October 2006. How long do you want Apple to go with out updates?

The processor upgrades, not the OS upgrades.

I've currently got a single 1GB stick in a three year old PB - will that be OK to swap into a new MBP?

Iain
NO, even if it was the last powerbook G4 with DDR2 ram it still isn't compatible, different speed and spd DDR2 dont seem to mix very well. Best to buy a new stick from a reputable store (and remember Apple overcharges for RAM)

I cant wait to get mine!!!

I gotta wait to go into uni to order with HE store online

I could order on the phone but online i will get £32 in nectar points, £32 in Tesco points and £10 in Sky points.. so worth waiting for £74 worth of points from all my loalty and credit cards

Nice update. Some really nice to have features, but I'm not totally depressed about buying my 2.16ghz MBP 3 months ago (not that I could have waited, really).

be satsisfied with what you have when you needed it... i got my 17" MBP only 3 weeks ago with no regrets and i love this thing, i don't need all that's there in the update, what i have now will suffice until the next time i need a new computer :D :D :D

Hmmm...I've never seen a power adapter on a plane, and I flew a few days ago (on a cheapo airline, but still...). Core 2 Duo isnt that much of an upgrade, its "only" 1.4X, which to some people would make a lot of difference but to me it doesnt. Whats that, like a second faster on most tasks? Not worth the wait. Also, whats the word on CPU buzz?

Ordered my 17" MBP!!

Sending my current 17" MBP refurb back on the 14 day satisfaction period. I know it may cost a few bucks... But hey, that is why I went refurb!
Besides, my refurb has the circle on the palm rest defect anyway!
:D

This is a great update - enough to satisfy people who have been waiting but not so much that I want to junk my 6 month old MBP :D

2GB of RAM

Wow, no one saw that one coming!!
Maybe something in the higher models needed 2gb of ram.. Or apple is just being its kinds self and giving us 2gb instead of 1gb to make us happy :) Or trick us into thinking we are getting a good deal for our money when we really arnt! Ahh the confusing ways of apples marketing structure! But I sure cant wait for my 2.33GHz stock 15.4inch Macbook pro! I will be paying that back for the rest of my life ;)

Has anyone esle seen that the apple.com/macbookpro image looks white.. kinda looks like a ibook

what happens if i have just bought a MBP but it hasnt been delivered yet?

i bought a MBP 2 weeks ago and its just about to be delivered?
i want a one of the new upgraded ones, just my luck!
CAN I RETURN IT ?
anyone with some tips?

thanks in advance

I guess the point is that for some people this represents a considerable long term investment (like me) and they want to get the most modern hardware available if it will have to last years.
Worth noting that the projected clock speeds of Intels future laptop CPU's are not significantly faster, so there may yet be a "motorola effect"

802.11n isn't due for ratification until 2008. There is a "Draft N v 2.0" due out next year that is supposedly close to what 802.11n will be but there's no guarantee anything will work until the final spec is released in 2008.

Ive just noticed, they've brought back the Firewire 800 on the 15" models now.

Im sure the 2.16 15" is £50 cheaper. Anyone have the old price listing?

Normally only on long haul and even then only in Premium Economy and up. The cheap seats get no love!

I think he means that the wireless card in the new MBP may be the same as in the new iMac, which is apparently 802.11n draft compliant

Great marketing seatbelts sold seperately. This thing never crashes I guess, and I don't want it to.

proven classic latch system, proven case design... nice update

ordered! 3-7 working days. would be great to get it by the end of the week

i got the middle line for £1444 with student discount

But if its not is there anyway you could upgrade to a 802.11n wireless card when it comes out in 2008? Like take it took an apple store and pay £100 or something..

7200 rpm?

as others have mentioned, i'm a little surprised that only the 17inch model has a 7200rpm drive option. i'm going to check with apple directly to see if i can get a custom 15inch with a 7200 drive. my audio apps don't work well with the anything slower.

having said that, the ram, fw800 and dual layer burner are a nice addition

Yep, but the new iMacs are shipping with 802.11n's installed. Plus I'd imagine that Apple has its own standards about being compatible with its own stuff (iTV, etc).

As long as it works with the 802.11[whatever] that the iTV ships with, it'll work for me. :)
