Yep, no way of knowing any exact number. So, I go by number of reports with this particular problem on specific device on certain OS. I've seen more reports of not resolved vs resolved. So...
But, thanks for commenting on the post that you believe it is resolved based upon your use with whichever devices.
You might want to read what I wrote more closely before jumping to conclusions. :)

You have learned to accept this as the new normal. What did they do before a product could be remotely "fixed"? You would have to take it to a repair shop or send it back to the manufacturer for it to be fixed or replaced at a huge cost to them. So back then there was a lot more testing and verification of products to make sure this type of thing didn't happen. Now that isn't the case, if there is a bug discovered in pre-release testing that looks like it can be fixed later rather than holding up the release up they go forward and just "patch" it later.
Now I will agree today's hardware is a LOT more complex then that used to be but the manufacturers use the firmware update as a way to help themselves not you.

Not really seeing any proof of this though, since the AirPods clearly work just fine with the firmware it shipped with.

Funny, there was a time; decades ago, when I thought everything Apple made was 'magical'.

Apple does make a pretty decent number of “magical” products. I think the retina 5k iMac is an impressive panel which still hasnt reallt been surpassed in its over four years on the market. I think the iPhone X was an iconic, pivotal moment for the smartphone; the iPhone X design and its innovations in biometric identification are still highly coveted aspects that are unmatched by its rivals. The Apple Watch, in the last few iterations, has become a pretty capable and very nice product. These are all products created in the last 5 years. Apple still is capable of magic, and I don’t think their rate of innovation has slowed too much. The AirPods have disappointed me, however.

iPhone X changed the course of smartphone looks just like the original iPhone did. everyone copied it.

this new airpod firmware seems to have stopped my left airpod from saying it was not a good fit.....

i am having that problem too, but i'm wondering if it's related to the eartips wearing out. before and after the update i have been unable to get the test to say that the fit is good on the right, and it's only sporadically good on the left. when i first got the airpods (day of launch) both sides gave me good status. i've tried all 3 sizes of eartips to no avail.

regardless they sound fine and block the outside noises OK so i guess i'll just do the ear test whenever i want to hear a snippet of Tycho :)

Where did you find foam tips for Airpod Pros?

On eBay. I got them today, but I can't get a "good seal" with them at all, no matter the size tip I use. Someone else got great results, so YMMV.

I got a good seal with the stock tips for almost a day, then it became impossible to get a good seal after that. Apple's engineers have my first set of AirPod Pros, but the replacement set does exactly the same thing. Good seal for about a day, then nothing.

I wear my AP Pros when walking in the mall. I've noticed sometimes when I walk by certain stores, it's almost like there is some sort of interference and humming sound. I use the noise cancelling mode. Any ideas why? Could it be a WiFi network, some sort of bluetooth interference or florescent lighting?
I haven’t experienced this myself, but I have a pair of B&Os, one of the ear will stop working whenever I walk past a security door thingy, you know those thing beeps when you walk out a store with clothes has a security tag. It interferes with the earphone Not sure if that’s the case here.

Bought my set a week after launch and had to return them. Updated the firmware and same result with respect to crackling, popping sound, red !!!!! on the battery indicator etc...BTW there are 3 firmware versions, not two as this article suggests. With all that said I received my 2nd pair today in the mail after waiting about 3 weeks. They are perfect so far. Again had to update the firmware but all is good so far. It appears Apple got rid of the battery pop up window on the home screen, which showed the red !!!!! in the last firmware.

I flew with mine yesterday and compared them to my Bose QC35s. I was impressed at how well the AirPods Pro did in cancelling noise. The Bose was better of course but the difference wasn’t as much as I thought it would be.

QC35 Series 1 or 2? If Series 1, with the latest software update?
Read online it renders active noise cancellation nearly useless, curious to see if you noticed any difference?

Also expecting the same cannot get a good fit since the firmware update

Apple today released a new firmware update for the AirPods Pro, which were originally released on October 30.

Today's firmware update is labeled as 2B588, up from 2B584, which was the release version of the firmware that the AirPods Pro shipped with.

There's no word on what's included in the firmware update, but it may improve connectivity or resolve other small issues with the earbuds.

The firmware update will install automatically when connecting the AirPods Pro to your iPhone or iPad, and it could take some time for the update to become available for everyone. To check the firmware of your AirPods Pro, follow these steps:
  1. Launch the Settings app on your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Tap About.
  4. Scroll down to AirPods Pro and tap it.
  5. The firmware number is listed under "Firmware Version."
There's no reliable way to force a firmware update on the AirPods Pro, so AirPods Pro owners will need to be patient and expect the AirPods Pro to be updated over the course of regular use.

In Apple’s internal support documents, it is stated that the AirPods needs to be fully charged and then be kept with a charger plugged in for about 40 minutes in near proximity to the iPhone. That will trigger the firmware update.
