Honestly, I think I'd prefer that Apple and others stop with the GIANT FLAGSHIP SOFTWARE RELEASES ONCE A YEAR NO MATTER WHAT and instead just iteratively roll things out in 0.X updates throughout the year.

My wife HATES the September iOS update because she feels like she has to learn everything all over again. "Why can't they just leave it alone instead of changing how I need to do things?"
So you want your wife to be annoyed every few months instead? And honestly, they really aren’t changing that much every year …

I wonder if this will include the “AirPlay for AirPods” that Jon said that Apple would be bringing in the future on the latest episode of front page tech.
that way you could actually stream Lossless to AirPods. It would make sense, especially since in all of the materials were they say it’s not compatible, they specifically note that lossless cannot be streamed over “Bluetooth.”
they specifically mention Bluetooth, which is strange to me. So I wouldn’t be surprised to see Prosser be correct
As lovely as that sounds that is not real 😂😂. He said that is what he is predicting with no proof. Jon clearly doesn’t know how tech actually works. Airplay to headphones would be a huge battery drain to the iPhone and the AirPods. Even if it was possible using airplay (or a new wireless protocol) to send audio to headphones no current device has the hardware to do so.

Agreed. Except when each of the new OS updates bring OS-specific features.
Still don’t need multiple articles to announce that Apple JUST released a new beta and public beta. Just dedicate a paragraph to each OS release and consolidate it into one article. iOS, iPadOS, tvOS and WatchOS are the same operating system. They just have a UI tailored to the device in question. Every other Monday or Tuesday the front page gets flooded with redundant unnecessary articles and folks miss other news.

Who cares that Apple released beta and public beta 4 of iOS 14.7 and everything else. If there are no changes compared to the PB 3, 4-5 articles aren’t needed. Just write a separate article or update the original one with any discovered newsworthy changes/updates.

I appreciate the feedback on the beta posts. This combined format works for early betas when we're unaware of feature sets, but it's harder to maintain when there are separate features for each beta that people want to discuss.

Another issue is that beta posts are prepared ahead of time so we can let MR readers know right away when a beta comes out without delaying, and betas don't always come out all together.

I'll combo when I can, but for the most part beta articles will continue to be separate. When there are no new features in a beta as is often the case with tvOS, we do have a feature for making sure it doesn't take up much space on the front page, which we always use. I've also been comboing tvOS and iOS when possible.
I have not signed in here for a long time. But I agree please with the beta release, please stop breaking them out into different articles. Don’t care the reason, there must be a better way.

Who forces your wife to update?

Do you prefer this because you’re averse to an update, or because you want to curb your wife’s complaining?

The big sur 11.5 beta 1 full installer is available too, but not the 11.4 RC full installer.

I am trying to install 11.4 RC however, with the profile installed, I am being offered 11.5 beta 1? Is there a workaround for this?

Yeah, it makes me want to keep the beta profile on my iPhone and just get the RC betas, so that I can get it a few days ahead of the general release without a huge risk of borking my phone with early betas.
It’s also super nice being able to download the full installer OTA. And not have to deal with the overload on the servers when the public release is out.
