My rule of thumb is wait for whichever Dev beta drops right before the public beta does. I've had fairly good luck with that strategy and other than some incompatibilities with banking apps due to changes in the way a new OS protects and encrypts data and the usual increased battery drain inherent with any beta rarely have an issue.Oddly enough, the first betas of new iOS usually aren't that bad.
