Anyone notice the search / siri pulldown and left of home screen look different? I don't remember seeing more icons like it shows now and the search bar is smaller (not sure why, there is room for it). iPhone 6+

Not quite a release per se, just a beta.

I don't know what's wrong with my iPhone. It doesn't have Siri on it and Safari is missing. If Safari is downloadable, then it's not in the app store.

I hate to flatten and reload and start all over. I probably had a bad update to 9.0.

Also, phone freezes up a bit. Stalls now and then and I restart a lot more than before.

I do like the Podcast app and the iTunes app okay. Podcast is a lot better now.

He's not saying it's not there. He's saying it often just reloads the mobile site again. I've had the same issue.

Well 9.2 doesn't appear to change anything. e.g. mlssoccer.com still re-opens the mobile site when you request desktop site in 9.2.

And I CANNOT believe you still can't reorganize and SAVE the layout of the icons in Safari in that menu where you pick "request desktop site." Such a joke, Apple!

You can reorganise the menu and save. I have request desktop site in the first position.

Also did you know if you press and hold website refresh icon it brings up request desktop option.

I cannot reorganize the menu and save. It has never worked for me on any of my iOS 9 devices. Can you explain how you managed it?

Excuse me, I’m on the beta programme and I’m currently running 9.1 on an iPhone 6S+. This was a major source of upset because I had been running 9.0 beta on my previous iPhone 6+ and I somehow ignorantly upgraded to 9.1 beta the day 9.0 was released. (For those of you who are easily amused, this scenario led to several complications when transferring my stuff from the old phone, with the new beta, to the new phone, with an older mainline release, requiring me to enrol the new device into the beta programme before I could load up the backup. But I digress.)

Anyway, I was wondering if somebody could indicate to me how I might get myself off the beta treadmill. It’s worth the excitement for major releases with exciting new features et al but suffering for the sake of curiosity on a daily basis right now just ain’t worth it (for me).

Most appreciated.

Settings > General > Profile, and then remove the beta profile there.

Request Desktop Site isn't available in 9.1. Also it never works anyway

I noticed it was missing ever since iOS 9 released, and I've been very annoyed...

...UNTIL NOW.

It turns out it is still there, they just moved it! I found it under the "share/more/whatever" icon at the bottom of Safari (the box with an arrow coming out of the top). Tap that, then scroll all the way to the right. I don't know why they moved it, but I'm glad it's still there! (Even though it never worked half the time anyway)

Hmm. Interestingly enough there’s no such profile there (just a couple of system-available TTF fonts I uploaded with AnyFont), and when I check for an iOS update in Settings>General>Software Update it reports I’m “up to date” with 9.1, so maybe I did somehow succeed in getting myself off the treadmill.

Thanks for the answer, meanwhile. I appreciate it. (Also, I sometimes make myself feel like an idiot.)

As was posted above, you don't need to go into that menu to request the desktop site. You can just hold on the reload icon in the web address and do it that way.

Why we can't just set Safari to always load desktop sites is beyond me. I dislike mobile sites with a passion.

Happens to us ALL. But yep, sounds like you're not in the beta program anymore! Yay!

Part of it is that the web sites themselves do detection of browsers and serve up the version of the site they fell is apporiate for the browser.

It's still the choice of the server what site to deliver. They can choose to ignore the headers and do whatever they like.
