Also did you know if you press and hold website refresh icon it brings up request desktop option.

I didn't know this. Thanks! Also it give you the option to reload without content blockers if you're in that situation .

I think I know what you mean. The multitasking tiles seem quite a bit smoother to me when scrolling through them. 60fps vs... ~52-55fps (yes, I'm sensitive to that sort of thing, too).
Are you guys using Digital Foundry tools to measure framerate? Or are you just eyeing the difference?

Ok, on my end, 3D Touch menus seem SIGNIFICANTLY smoother/faster on iPhone 6s Plus. Multitasking seems a bit smoother than 9.1, but that may be placebo. Scrolling on Twitter seems to be smoother as well, but scrolling through wallpapers is still stuttery, but this has been the case as long as I can remember. As reported, settings "bug" is fixed.

I'll all for public testing, but I hate it when people become 'testers' and then complain when things don't work on their main device - acting like the software should be flawless!
Apple long blurred the lines of qualitative distinction between beta and release channel versions anyways.

Not much of a difference these days.

OTA 9.2 PB is weighting @ 1.4GB ... thats on iPhone 6 128GB phone.. the size doesn't matter to me but it would if I was on a Small GB iPhone e.g 16...
I believe a lot of the recent beta updates are rolled out as full installations rather than delta ones.

I honestly can't remember if this truly is the buggiest major release of iOS. I've experienced every major update since 2.0, and this one might take the gold. Not being critical, just trying to remember the history of the releases. One of them has to be the buggiest right? And if memory serves me well I think it actually is this one.

For many the initial versions of iOS 8 and 7 were considerably less stable and with more issues overall than iOS 9 has been.

It's there as it was in 9.0 and works the same as it has before (even before iOS 9).
Yes but it never worked before, it would just ask the site if it had a desktop version, instead of changing the client to emulate a desktop browser.

I noticed it was missing ever since iOS 9 released, and I've been very annoyed...

...UNTIL NOW.

It turns out it is still there, they just moved it! I found it under the "share/more/whatever" icon at the bottom of Safari (the box with an arrow coming out of the top). Tap that, then scroll all the way to the right. I don't know why they moved it, but I'm glad it's still there! (Even though it never worked half the time anyway)

Thank you, not sure why they moved it. It still doesn't work, even with the mac rumors site.

Well 9.2 doesn't appear to change anything. e.g. mlssoccer.com still re-opens the mobile site when you request desktop site in 9.2.

And I CANNOT believe you still can't reorganize and SAVE the layout of the icons in Safari in that menu where you pick "request desktop site." Such a joke, Apple!

mlssoccer.com is a good example of what is actually going on with the Request Desktop Site that is frustrating and confusing for many users.

Originally when mobile browsers were first being deployed, the browser ID string would identify to the web server what browser was connecting and requesting content. Initially many websites ended up making lightweight versions of their websites aimed at mobile browsers. Though you would navigate to www.mlssoccer.com, the server would see you were from a mobile browser and send back the contents of m.mlssoccer.com (typically).

The "Request Desktop Site" options were a way to get at extra, rich content that was not provided to mobile browsers by default.

Since tablets became so popular - many browsers that were identifying as mobile browsers had as much or more resolution than some desktop browsers. The number and variation between the resolution options exploded and it became a fools errand to try to determine which site to return based on the browser ID string.

In the last two or three years, the concept known as Responsive Design has grown rapidly in the design and deployment of websites. Responsive design involves dynamic content that reformats what is sent back to the requesting browser based primarily on the resolution of the browser - not based on the browser identifier in the request header.

Regardless of choosing "request desktop site" - the resolution that is passed back is still small enough in many cases that the responsive design implementation sends back the equivalent of the old m.xxx.com website.

I have no experience with mlssoccer.com so I can't say for sure, but it appears that they do not have a m.mlssoccer.com and separate www.mlssoccer.com implementation, so it would appear they are using responsive design techniques.

It doesn't work everywhere, but in my experience it has worked on various different sites that I needed/wanted to use it on. So certainly not something that has never worked.

Works on here on MacRumors for me. On top of it, many sites, MacRumors included, have their own desktop version links that can be used to load their desktop version.

Yeah it's most noticeable when you 3D Touch an app icon

Confirmed.

Just forced the desktop version of macrumors to load

There really isn't a mobile/desktop version with MR. The landscape/portrait/desktop versions are all based on size.

And as was mentioned, many sites don't give you a 'desktop' version when you request it. They don't listen to you. I wish they did, too.

Really? Can you share the link? I asked and was told there wasn't any such thing after the last redesign! :)
I think there's a difference between the MacRumors and MacRumors forums. MacRumors itself has a desktop version that is somewhat different than the mobile version. For forums a responsive design is used, which his basically the same design that adjusts and scales based on the size of the screen (and orientation in a sense).
