Just loaded it on my MBP.

Repairing permissions still takes ages!

Why is that? It was very fast on Tiger but is SuperSlow on Leopard. Can't wait to get home and try this out. My C2D iMac has seemed very sluggish and slower since I upgraded to Leopard. Hopefully this helps some

Hieratical menus in Stacks?

Better icons for Stacks?

Text messaging from Address Book again?

No, thought not... :(

WHAT A DAMN DISAPPOINTMENT. that little list of updates in 10.5.1 dont even cover the other huge bugs that mine has on a mac pro, total joke
and all of the complaints about stacks and the menu bar and no option?? wtf??!
i downgraded to tiger so i could have a working and good system but didnt think it'd be for too long.i guess it will be
with the .1 release theres no way they will release another update anytime soon.
to repeat WHAT A JOKE leopard has turned out to be!!

Lock'n'loaded!

Indeed seems much snappier.

Hopefully Time Machine will keep on rolling after restarts [got a new Freecom Tough Drive, white one with FW, but Time Machine didn't want to continue aborted download :( so disappointing, now formated it again after having installed this update and trying to backup].

Stacks and menu bar still the same though :(

Hope it fixes

Hope it enables the Flux Capacitor in Time Machine. That Marty McFly guy owes me a Pepsi. :p

First of call: Calm Down.

Secondly: Traditionally a 10.x.1 release is going to consist of mainly bug fixes that were found after GM, mostly internally, and is not going to add any new features. Expect to see some of the bigger user complains and issues being addressed in 10.5.2 and 10.5.3. 10.5.1 is a small patch to fix the most heinous of bugs.

Anyone notice a fix for D-Link Bluetooth Dongle?

That and occasional inability to wake from a long nap are the main issues I have been having with Leopard.

Can anyone plug their D-Link into a hub and actually have their Bluetooth goodies or their system work?

Unfortunately, it looks like the lack of menu bar translucence isn't a bug, after all.

The determinant for menu bar translucence is GPU support for Quartz GL. The GeForce FX 5200 does not support that, so no translucent menu bar.

You can verify this, using Quartz Debug: "Quartz GL Not Supported" is grayed out and in place of "Enable Quartz GL," which you'll find with GPUs that can support it.

It still seems rather odd to me, considering that Quartz GL is Quartz 2D Extreme renamed, the minimum requirements for which are a Radeon 9600 or better, or a *GeForce FX* or better, IIRC.

nearly good enough to go on sale

Good job Apple

Another update like this and you might want to release Leopard to the public.

Can anyone confirm...

Fix for MBP Screen turning off issue
Fix for Screencapture Memory Leak
Fix for Expose forgetting Hotkey settings?

I'm at work and can't try it out :/

So you downgraded and how exactly can you tell on a system running Tiger if the update to Leopard did not fix some of your bugs that you didn't list above? (Stacks and transparent menu bar are not bugs). Apple never lists all the bugs that are fixed in an update in those tech notes.

Can definitely feel an immediately improvement in performance and snappiness of applications. Doesn't take 20 bounces for Firefox to load anymore!

i'd calm down if the $129 I wasted worked on my top of the line mac pro
and it doesnt.putting aside the asinine removal of dock hierarchal folders and simple options to reduce the ugly translucent menu bar,my system is still not usable.clean install and all
my x1900 high end graphics card puts lines all over the screen in leopard,if you think its just me and i'm blowing it out of proportion just look at apple discussions for samples. that and giant yellow and purple shapes that appear all over the screen at random.tiger never did this and hasnt done it since i went back so it is NOT a hardware issue.and no it is not fixed in 10.5.1,i just tried.
so a huge issue like this is just ignored and passed over by :apple: even though it is affecting thousands of mac pro high end customers majorily?! thats not what i'd call an update that should have been never needed

and back to the missing aka REMOVED 'enhanced' features in leopard like the stacks, menu bar, view options staying set and being stable, and a thousand other things ---- yes i am mad as hell at that. even the stacks feature that they demoed to the world in the public WWDC video showed them working MUCH differently.so much differently that it is another feature entirely. leopard is so half-as@ it isnt even funny so yes i have the right to be mad

dual boot

I said it before ill say it again.

Leopard is vista but done the mac way.

What a disappointment overall.
