Well thank god, we needed updated emojis.
Right. But the middle finger Emoji characterizes this update in the most meaningful way.

Here's how it is. The Earth got used up...No joke. Words are so last-year. Pretty soon we'll have entire sentences made up of nothing but pictures... WAIT A SEC! Isn't that Chinese?
Has it showed up for anybody? I have the dreaded "no updates available" I am here in California.
Who do you think you are, being all logical and reasoned and stuff? Quit being so level-headed and start whining! This is a necessary step for improved stability that we all asked for. All the new fixes for the last 1-2 months is not considered tested enough to be included in 10.11.0 so they have been pushed to .1 instead which means that 10.11.0 may not be as optimized as it could but it's been tested for a long time without finding major bugs and now the .1 release will get a lengthy test period as well.
Clearly Apple have changed their approach whilst developing OS X. Certainly in the case of El Capitan it is not just the developers that are getting their hands on the latest builds and this is most welcome.
Apple today seeded the first beta of OS X 10.11.1 El Capitan to public beta testers, just days after first releasing the beta to developers and roughly a week and a half before OS X El Capitan will be released to the public on September 30.
The new beta is available through the Software Update mechanism in the Mac App Store.

The first beta of OS X 10.11.1 introduced support for Unicode 8 and new emoji like taco, burrito, cheese wedge, hot dog, middle finger, and unicorn head. The emoji are also included in iOS 9.1, which is also in testing.
Beyond new emoji, there have been no other outward-facing changes discovered, suggesting OS X 10.11.1 is a minor update that will bring bug fixes and performance enhancements. According to Apple's release notes, the beta offers stability, compatibility, and security improvements.

Can you please describe your experience with OS X 10.11.1. It will be helpful for all users who have not yet jumped onto that update.Clearly Apple have changed their approach whilst developing OS X. Taking this strategy of releasing Beta builds of OS X 10.11.1 before OS X 10.11 goes out to the Mac public indicates that Apple are keen to ensure El Capitan remains polished. After all El Capitan is Yosemite done properly much like Snow Leopard fixed the Leopard shortcomings.
This early Public Beta of OS X 10.11.1 should be welcomed as El Capitan has already surpassed Yosemite in terms of stability.
Running OS X 11.11.1 Public Beta 1 now.
OK, I'm a little confused. I have been running the El Capitan public betas so far, but I am not seeing any update for the GM version. My last update to the beta was installed 9/3 and I haven't gotten any others since then. The release I'm running says its "10.11 Beta (15A278b)".
Should I be seeing something more current in my Updates tab?
Go to your Purchased Apps and you should see "OS X El Capitan GM Candidate" or something like that, download/install it and the 10.11.1 PB1 should appear in the Update section![]()
is there a way to get out of public beta? Outside of formatting?
606mb of burrito emojis
Yep.I'm beginning to sour on the public betas. I had an issue with my Mac Pro a few weeks ago, and Apple's Tech Support flatly refused to help me because I was running the beta. They told me to wait for the "legitimate" El Capitan release and then call them back.
It depends how much feedback you intend to send .....So I have the 10.11.0 GM running smoothly... should I update to a first public beta of 10.11.1 to get a middle finger emoji... tough decision!
download the GM of 10.11 1st. that was my problem tooHas it showed up for anybody? I have the dreaded "no updates available" I am here in California.
