I have a feeling and I very well may be wrong, but I feel like somebody made a mistake over at Cupertino. It's not the first time, remember El Cap´s tiny mistake during the Beta Program? They already gave us the GM for the Mac. It makes absolutley no sense to release 9.1 to the PUBLIC feed. Since the whole point was to test iOS 9. It may sound dumb but maybe they were supposed to give us the GM for iOS 9 and somebody pulled the wrong lever. Why would they even have it?

I think its interesting that you can install a profile for watchOS, but can't actually install a beta/GM of watchOS 2 without a dev account. Or, am I missing something?

You're missing something.
I installed all the betas with only a public account.

Short answer is no ... To get 9.0 GM build -- gotta remove the profile from the iPhone then wait until GM 9.0 is out for Public Release...

Shorter answer is "yes"
;)

The battery usage on my iPhone 5S has improved significantly with 9.1 PB. Today is the first day in a long time I've gone more than 12 hours of normal use without charging in-between and I still have 28%.

Anyone else seeing similar results?

Seriously?

Seriously what? Smooth? Yes. For me, I've yet run into any hiccups with it.

Seriously what? "Can someone list the steps...?" Also a yes. Several members were asking and no one was answering. I didn't know so I asked again. Since then, another member helped with an answer.

Some other "seriously?" of which I'm unaware? Hard to say. Bit I'm sure you'll let me know if it's the latter.

Cheers.

I think he was being condescending about you asking for help in removing the public profile... other members here are helpful, some aren't..

I only got the option/ability to get iOS 9.1 PB 1 last night despite being in the PB Program for some reason

Glad I got it though

Thanks Apple

Good lord I thought these posts would end for a while until iOS 10.

No rest for the wary tester until
iOS 30 maybe :p:D;):apple:

hmm do you guys think that if we, PB testers, are getting the 9.1 beta, we´ll get the 9.0 GM?

No PB GM is unheard of don't believe it's ever been done plus would be pointless at this point in the game

Wait we have a public seed of 9.1 but iOS9 is yet to be released?

Public Beta Seed
ONLY Apple staff or Those in Dev or PB will get access for now

Is there any way I can install iOS 9 GM instead of iOS 9.1 beta 1 in the public beta program?

No GM can't be installed OTA and is strictly Dev's ONLY no PB access

So the animated wallpapers will NOT work with non 6s phones? Really? Why?!

I would assume some limitations on 6/6 Plus and older that 6S and 6S Plus are able to better compensate for or perhaps they'd just be too laggy on older models

When you backup on an iOS beta, does it back up apps also or just text messages, images etc? When I backup of select (transfer purchases) - apps on my iPhone don't appear in my iTunes library

It backs up basic data and settings unless you make an encrypted backup
( requires setting a passcode to recover/use later )

Encrypted makes a far more complete backup over other options

Can PB testers get the iOS 9 GM?

No

So why does Hey Siri without power only work on new iPhones? Is it because my 6 is not powerful enough with the A8 chip?

Yea not powerful enough

Thanks - I tried encrypted backup however it still doesn't appear to back up apps - I guess I will have to revert to iOS 9 then next week so I can also back up apps from my iPhone using non betas ios..?

9.1 is running smooth on my 6, chuffed!

What happens when our 6S phones arrive? Will we be able to install from a 9.1 backup? Will it be running 9.1?

It'll be run the Public official iOS 9
It may have an update out of the box OTA

If not should be EZ enough to upgrade to 9.1 by enrolling your new 6S or 6S Plus into a Beta program

You'll NEED To likely have iOS 9.1 or higher to restore backups made using iOS 9.1 on current devices

Backing up apps seems 50/50 hit or miss some apps updated to block it/not update

Also I think some iTunes update over the last 6 or so months limited App backups I know I have successfully done full on backups of apps, and all settings and phone data in the past a few times

I wanna say this was back somewhere over the course of iOS 6.1 thru 1 of the iOS 8 early versions though

No iOS emojis on this forum... Damn, just when you need the middle finger...

Ask and you shall receive

It's sad. I really want to install it now but I have to wait until I come home. Why Apple decide for me that I can't download it using LTE?

Simply put if the update/beta takes too much data it will only allow WiFi updates
I'd assume it's a fail safe to not eat into testers data plans too much

Honestly a good idea either way

Wow, iOS9 is not even out to the masses yet and 9.1 is being seeded. Does that mean there's more issues with 9.0 then we know about at this time?

Probably a combination of that and things they ran out of time to put stuff in Public iOS 9 prior to 6S and 6S plus release

Will iOS 9 work on older iOS devices, or will it only be for the newest generation? Will it work on iPad Air 2?

iPhone 4S and newer
Anything else around the 4S time and newer

So far, so smooth on my iPhone 6.
App switching, Notes and Siri have been my most notable differences.

Can someone list the steps for removing the public beta profile? Thanks!

Settings>General>Profiles
Then just delete it

What device are you attempting to install it on and are you upgrading over wifi? At what point does it fail?
Yeah disregard my comment. I was trying to update my iPad 4 over wifi at my college and the network is terrible. As soon as I got home it went through fine and installed fine.

I'm doing amazingly well
98% down to 56% in 8 1/2 hours of pretty solid usage I'd say not too shabby over iOS 9.0 PB 5

Does anyone have location services switched on, when switching the screen on?
It is gone when I unlock the screen. Haven't had that on iOS 8. I checked my settings, and do not have any excess location service on, like wi-fi networking and so on.

Perhaps related to suggested apps that would typically show up on the lock screen?

Oh, I had a boarding pass remained in Wallet (which is strange, because I did a clean install without restore, maybe it was restored by iCloud automatically?) Anyway, that was using Location Based Alerts.

However, there's an other thing: Wi-Fi switches off to 3G, when phone goes to idle, and back when screen is on. Anyone has the same behaviour?

Unless the phone is plugged in it doesn't hold on to the WiFi connection when it's locked/asleep. Been that way for years.

I constantly have location on since I have lots of apps that use or require it.
That and in case I need find my iPhone seeing as I've had 1 stolen by a bunch of bratty teens in the past

Keeping Find My iPhone on doesn't show the location arrow most of the time.
